"Things...it just happens..."
He let out as he joined their lips together.
Della's eyes rotated around her socket as she tried to figure out what was happening as he pasted their lips together.
His hold on her tightened when she did not respond to him as he thought she would have.
But within the snap of fingers, as if she got her senses back, she pushed him off and he stumbled backwards, astonished by that move of hers.
"You have a girlfriend."
She declared as if he had forgotten about the fact himself.
He was taken aback, her eyes staring at him with an accusatory disposition.
How could he just kiss her when in the daytime he was claiming to have a girlfriend?
He would take her to the party, and steal her first kiss as if the world was ending the next day and leave the place with another woman in his arms...how could he?
"Why did you kiss me in your car?"
She asked. She had to. She could not rest anymore without knowing why when he already had someone waiting for him at the party.
He did not respond right away and just kept staring at her as if she had transformed into the fourth dimension right in front of his eyes.
Her mind got restless in the next passing second. He was not going to say anything at all...it was what it was.
The open communication relationship that they used to have had ended a long time ago and it was foolish of her to think that she could revive it.
"Della? Come to the front...we got to go. It is late."
She heard her mother from the other side, breaking the moment and it was time for her to leave finally.
Not like she did not have enough of this evening. She could not wait forever for his answers to her questions.
Maybe kissing him so passionately in front of everyone, without a care of the world was a mistake?
"Coming, Mom."
She yelled back and then turned around to leave. There was no point waiting then.
But as soon as she turned around to go, parting her eyes off of him, he called her back.
"Wait, Adella..."
And she found herself halting on her own, although not turning around. Her chest heaved up and down, contemplating what was he going to say.
"Emily and I are over."
Four simple words and she was already in the cloud nine.
Neither did he expect nor did she, that she would react that way...because the next moment, he found it difficult to not lose his balance and fall on his back as she launched herself onto him.
She pasted her lips against his, wrapping her arms around his neck, as he held onto her small waist trying to keep straight.
A smile plastered on her face, eyes closed as she moved her lips against his, feeling the hole in her heart being filled up with rose petals, healing from the last night's exhaustion.
He accepted her fully as he responded to her as if tomorrow the world would go static and they would not be able to move.
"Della?"
Startled, she pushed him off and he fell on his back, not expecting that move at all.
"Mother?"
She turned around, totally unaware of having to face a moment like this next instant.
"Let's go...been calling you for a while now."
Beth looked at her daughter weirdly, wondering what was she doing in the front yard all by herself in the dim light. There was no one.
"Coming..."
Della muttered under her breath and walked after her mother, not daring to look back and eye him.
She did not know how to face him. The act she did was involuntary. Something about him declaring that his thing whatever it was with Emily was not working, made her sour heart elated.
Shawn lying on the ground, did not dare to get up from there as he heard the mother and the daughter exchange a few words and the footnotes leaving.
He could not comprehend what had happened. He had bought her here thinking of getting things sorted between them...because he did not like having Adella outraged by something he had done.
And how things unfolded, even though he had no explanation for it. He was not supposed to kiss her or escort her to the party.
He should have picked up Emily instead but he did not. Instead, he found himself parking in front of her house.
He had consoled his out-of-line behaviour thing saying that if any person in this world had right over him was Adella Gomez because they did every first of theirs together.
So he had to pick her up first in his brand-new Maserati. But then did he have right over her first kiss?
Something he had no explanation for... he stared up at the night sky and heard the engine starting and driving away.
She leaned her forehead against the glass window, looking up at the night sky too, wondering how things had transpired in the evening, just a while ago.
But it was too late to curl up and drop the feelings that she had been feeling for a long time.
This evening had changed a lot of things. If before, she was not sure whether or not to pursue it, she had got a kickstart.
If he was clueless, she was not. If he had lost track, she had not. If he had no idea what it was, she exactly knew what it was.
A smile stretched her mouth, feeling her cheeks heating up, the warmness of his hands penetrating her skin, even when he was not holding her right then...she could feel his touch.
"If you love, you fight."
The words repeated inside her head like a siren...a constant reminder.
A rather awkward realisation that she could not pinpoint out for a long time and then she did right in that moment...she was in love with Shawn Randall...and she had to fight for it.
