Chapter 4 - Behind the Books

Four books piqued my interest. Of course, they are all about magic, but it's still intriguing.

The first book was about martial arts, the second was about animal's techniques, the third is graceful swordsmanship, and the last is the book recreation. I went back to the house and sat on the couch. I took the first book out of all of them. It's called Graceful Swordsmanship.

It was cool. It wasn't at all a story but techniques how you do it. It also mentions good swords compatible with the techniques. I admired the grace sword, it is said that the holder of this sword is the family of Arie. I finished the book and memorized everything inside it incase Amashla asks for it.

Among all the books I chose I think Graceful Swordsmanship was the best. Since it didn't mention any magical things. It taught anyone how to do its techniques but I feel like it was halfway made, it felt as if something was missing... some were left unsaid. It was as if they wanted it to be a mystery.

"What'd you choose?" speaking of the devil, here she is.

"Graceful Swordsmanship," I said. I fought the urge to ask her why'd she let us read these things than strategies and survival guides.

She looked confused and took the book I was done reading, "I don't have this book. Where'd you get it?" she looked at me as if suspecting me.

"I got that from bins outside, I was collecting some... y-yeah..." Sh*t! I stuttered!

"Well, you have good taste. How about take a sword and do some techniques." I just scratch my head and giggled at what she said.

And where are we getting a sword? I thought to myself. Though I was left speechless when Amashla took out a sword underneath the table... I mean... I know she's a warrior but why'd she have to hide a sword here at the house...

"Here, show me some techniques you had learned," she said. I picked up the sword and was surprised that it wasn't really heavy. It was thin and has this elegant structure. I liked the sword.

We went out, and I swung the sword to try it. As expected the sword is heavy if you try to lift it. I swung a couple of times and let out a deep breath. I inhaled and visualize how the first technique I learned works... It's called Graceful Slash. The most basic technique of the book. It slashes anything, be it a boulder, wall, and many more that's at least 5 feet long and big. It leaves off sparks and sweet harmony to any sword. This is connected to Sora, The Musician Sona Swordsmanship...Yes, I memorized that all. I focused and closed my eyes. I prepared my sword... and I leaped closing my eyes towards the boulder Amashla prepared... I heard a graceful swing, and I opened my eyes... The boulder was disappeared?

"The boulder isn't gone, Alibaba. But you are at the other side of the slashed boulder," she said. I looked back and saw the slashed boulder that was as tall as the door...

"Did I do that?" I asked, unable to apprehend what happened. I didn't feel any pressure when I slashed. Everything was so soft, but the swing wasn't heavy like it used to, in fact, it felt beautifully light.

"Why don't you do it again without closing your eyes?" she said chuckling.

I went to another boulder and prepared. I swung a couple of times and inhaled. I let out a deep breath and prepared to swing my sword. I leaped and everything went slow-mo... I was moving so fast, and I saw sparks coming from the sword and its beautiful sound came and the boulder was torn. And my body weakened.

"Hey, you fine Alibaba?" I looked at her, and I fell onto my knees. Amashla was shocked and helped me up.

"Yeah. I think I exhausted myself. But I'm fine, ill just rest on the couch." I took my arm and walked inside the house. I sat down and thought about what happened. I couldn't believe such swordsmanship, and I was able to do it. It was cool. Swordsmanship is one of my favorites now...I guess swords isn't a hard obligation to handle. But it almost looked as if it was magic. I've seen butler George does that every morning, and it looked easy but I don't believe I was able to do it too.

I shook my head and saw the second book I found, it was called Ancient Beasts, it was all about animal techniques... I took it and started reading it.

I was reading for an hour and was already halfway to finishing it. I stopped and laughed at the thought of the book. This time it wasn't similar to the swordsmanship, it was all magic-related and I thought it was funny. I finished it and went for the other book next.

Night came, and I finished the Ancient Beasts and Ancient Martial Arts. The Martial Arts sounded interesting but the things inside the book were all nonsense too, like how'd you combine your other techniques with martial arts. I took my last book and opened it, the first page explained how the book works and said this was an ancient grimoire and other things. I finished the book and the writings of the book disappeared. I didn't mind it since I was very tired, and the next thing I knew I was already laying down on the couch.
