Chapter 23 - Chapter 23

The following morning; Roxie was in the kitchen looking at her e-mails, social media accounts and editing some of her stories. Roxie had a hard time falling asleep once she and Nathan had gotten back to the house from The Smouldering Hog. Roxie couldn't get what had happened between her and Nathan at The Smouldering Hog out of her head and she didn't know if she should tell Cassie about all that happened. Not only that; Roxie was even close to message Fifth Avenue Boy about her current situation with Nathan. It wasn't that Roxie was embarrassed about having feelings for Nathan, it was just something Roxie didn't even consider on even happening especially with how fast Roxie and Nathan's relationship has grown since she has arrived in the UK. Feeling a bit tired and stressed, Roxie decided that it was time to take a little break. So Roxie closed her laptop and went into the kitchen to make herself a cup of tea.

Now it was around 9:30 in the morning and Nathan was awake in his bed, thinking up a strategy to ask Roxie out for lunch. Then an idea finally hit him. Nathan remembered that he had promised to take Roxie to Maverick's one day and Nathan also knew that Roxie still hadn't gotten a full city tour of London, England.

"Alright, now that I know what I want to do with Roxie; the only problem that I've got now is when do I ask her?" Nathan thought to himself. All of a sudden Nathan heard a loud clattering noise coming from downstairs. Nathan then got up and went over to his bedroom door to see what was going on. He then opened his door and noticed that the other boys' doors were still closed. Nathan then walked out of his bedroom and very silently walked downstairs to the kitchen. Once Nathan had entered the kitchen, he saw Roxie sitting on the floor organizing all of the pots and pans the boys had stored in the cupboard by the stove.

"Need some help there?" Nathan asked her. Roxie quickly turned around, got up and banged her head against the drawer.

"Nathan, hi; I was just organizing a few things here." Roxie said.

"Yeah, I see that. Have you been at it all morning?"

"No; I wasn't. I was actually on my laptop earlier doing some editing and going through some e-mails and I got a bit stressed out and a little hungry so I decided to cook myself something to eat and when I opened the cupboard all of the pots and pans fell out. I'm sorry if all of the noise I'm making startled you." Roxie explained.

"Eh; it's ok, I can live. You said you were editing a bit of your story earlier, right?"

"Yeah, in fact I just finished editing a chapter a while ago. Do you, maybe; want to read a bit of my story while I finish up over here?"

"Yeah; I would love to." Nathan smiled. Then both Roxie and Nathan walked over to the kitchen table and Roxie opened her laptop so Nathan could read a bit of her story.

"Alright; there you are, feel free to read as much as you want. Just don't make any changes or edits. I don't want any publishers to think my story is some washed up version of some T.V. teenage musical because I think that type of story line is overrated." Roxie told Nathan as he sat down in front of the laptop.

"Don't worry; I won't try to embarrass you," Nathan promised. To Nathan's surprise; Roxie's story was amazing. Even though he had technically read most of Roxie's story before; Nathan had never seen Roxie's actual story for himself. Each chapter was intriguing and overall well written that Nathan seemed to enjoy the story. "Roxie; this story is incredible! I especially like the name of the story. It's pretty creative and eye-catching." he added.

"Thanks; it took me about 30 minutes to come up with that title."

"Really; 30 minutes?"

"Yeah, let's just say when it comes to making titles I generally suck at it." Roxie admitted.

"Oh, well at least I know now to not go to you for any song titles." Nathan chuckled. There was a long awkward silence between the two of them and both Roxie and Nathan didn't know what to say to each other.

"Do you want to help me make some breakfast for everyone?" Roxie asked Nathan.

"Sure." Nathan replied.

"Alright; what I'm making is pretty simple and it's an authentic Latin meal and I know for sure you boys will love it."

"Cool; simple and easy to make is what I like to hear. Now what is it that we're trying to make?"

"We are going to make huevo rancheros. It's actually Cassie's all time favorite breakfast that I make and now I'm lending the meal to you and the other boys." Roxie explained.

"Huevo what?"

"Huevo rancheros. It's basically an egg toastada. It's easy to make; here I'll show you." Roxie said. Nathan then walked over to the kitchen and stood by the island.

"Ok; what are we going to need?" he asked.

"You need to find me eggs, corn tortillas, two tomatoes, a whole onion, two jalapenos and cilantro." Roxie instructed.

"Hold on; I thought we were making the huevo toastada thing?"

"We are, but you can't have huevo rancheros without some kind of salsa. Without the salsa; the dish would be bland and flavorless." Roxie giggled.

"Oh." Nathan said.

"Relax; the salsa that we're making isn't that hard to make either. You'll be fine; trust me." Roxie reassured him. Nathan then just shrugged his shoulders and followed Roxie's instructions. For a while both Nathan and Roxie started making the meal, and so far Nathan was getting the hang of it. Every once in a while the two of them would have a brief conversation about the band's upcoming album, but the one topic Nathan wanted to talk about the most with Roxie was her friendship with Fifth Avenue Boy.

"How's it going with that guy you were supposed to meet up with at my family's pub? You haven't mentioned him since the night I saved you. Is everything going alright between the two of you?" he asked Roxie.

"It's funny that you bring him up because I actually haven't sent him any messages and honestly; I think it's kind of nice. Usually I would have sent a few messages by now, but I don't know. I guess I've been so busy with helping you boys and Cassie out that I completely forgot about him since I've been here." Roxie told him.

"I guess so, but aren't you at least wondering why he didn't meet up with you that night?"

"Maybe. My guess is that he was probably busy with the band that he's in, but he will always try to talk to me after his band rehearsals. I don't know; maybe I'm overthinking about this whole thing." Roxie sighed.

"Maybe you should send him a message and say that you are sorry for not meeting up a few weeks ago and you're wondering if everything is ok."

"Yeah; I guess I can message him later on today. Oh, that reminds me; Lexie texted me last night and she says that she was able to get an open slot for you boys in the studio and she wants all four of you to start recording some of the album this week."

"Cool; I'll let the lads know once they came downstairs and maybe we could also have Cassie come by and record one song as a little audition for Scott." Nathan suggested.

"Yeah, that'd be perfect. I'll run it by her once she gets up." Roxie smiled.

"You'll run by me what and are those huevos rancheros?" Cassie asked as she walked into the kitchen.

"Oh; Nathan and the guys are going to start recording their next album and Nathan thought it'd be a good idea that you would go with them and record a song as a little audition for you to get a record deal from the record label." Roxie explained.

"Sounds like a good idea to me; at least I won't be stuck here at the house all day." Cassie said.

"I was also thinking that the lads and I along with Cassie could write a song together and perform it as a duet and use that song as Cassie's audition for the label." Nathan added.

"Nathan, that is a brilliant idea! I better go wake up Paul, Landon and Calvin and tell them this. They're going to freak!" Cassie squealed as she went to the staircase.

"Also tell them that breakfast is almost ready and ask them how many huevos rancheros they want to eat." Roxie yelled.

As the day went on; Cassie, Roxie and Fifth Avenue Square were busy working on Fifth Avenue Square's duet with Cassie. So far the song was turning out really well and Cassie was having the time of her life. When it was finally evening and when all six of them were getting ready to head to bed, Roxie turned on her laptop one last time. She then went to her message inbox and scrolled to her messages with Fifth Avenue Boy. All of a sudden, there was a knock on the bedroom door and Cassie walked in the room.

"Hey; I was going to head into the kitchen to grab some kind of snack. Did you want anything?" she asked.

"No thanks; I'm good for right now." Roxie smiled.

"What are you doing?"

"I was just about to message Fifth Avenue Boy to see if everything was ok. I haven't found the time to message him since I've been here and surprisingly he hasn't messaged me either. Nathan and I were talking about it this morning and it got me thinking and I guess all of this silence between the two of us has got me really worried."

"Well don't over do it with the messaging because guys don't like that and I'm pretty sure he'll talk to you. He always does when it's you." Cassie teased.

"Whatever; goodnight." Roxie chuckled. Cassie just laughed and said goodnight. Roxie then went back to her messages and started typing away.

"Hey; it's me. I haven't heard from you in a couple of days plus I've been pretty busy myself so I apologize on my part. Is everything ok?" Roxie asked. Roxie then sent her message and waited for some type of response.

"Please reply back, please reply back." Roxie whispered to herself. All of a sudden the message icon lit up to Roxie's relief it was Fifth Avenue Boy.

"Yeah, everything is fine. Sorry I haven't messaged you either the band and I have been pretty busy with rehearsals and what not. Anyway; what's up?"

"Nothing much. I've been in London for the past few weeks now and I still want to meet up, but I'm kind of in the process of helping out an acquaintance of mine right now."

"Oh; who is that you're helping out? Maybe I know the person."

"Ok, just don't freak out when I tell you who it is; promise?"

"You have my word, love." Fifth Avenue Boy responded. Roxie then smiled and explained what has happened to her in the past few weeks. Once she had finished typing, Roxie sent the message and waited again for Fifth Avenue Boy's response.

"I can't believe you're helping out Fifth Avenue Square on their next album and considering on being their new personal assistant and have them help you out in finding a publisher."

"I know; I still can't believe it either. I sometimes have to pinch myself every time I wake up every morning."

"What's it like working with them?"

"To be honest; it's a bit challenging, but also really fun. I mean; I get that it's a serious job. I mean I'm basically working with the most well known band of this generation. I don't know, but I feel like I was meant to help these boys," Roxie explained. "I mean with Paul, Landon and Calvin; all I have to do is make a few changes here and there, but with Nathan-Nathan is something else. I can't really explain it, but every time I hang out with him whether it's watching T.V., playing video games or writing a song; he does something that kind of reminds me of you. I know it sounds crazy, but it's true. Plus I think I'm starting to have a tiny, little crush on him." she added.

"Wow; you having a crush on Nathan Hendrickson. I thought you didn't like guys like Nathan."

"I don't; it's just he makes me feel comfortable. Do you know what I mean?"

"Yeah I do; and if I were you I'd make a move because who knows, he might feel the same way about you."

"I guess you're right. Anyway, it's getting late and the guys are going to the studio first thing tomorrow morning. Talk to you later?"

"Of course; goodnight love."

"Goodnight Fifth Avenue Boy; sweet dreams." Roxie typed. Roxie then shut down her computer, changed into her pajamas and got ready to go to bed.
