The sky was black, engaged with pearl stars. The softness in the breeze and the night smell slow wind called body and brain to rest, and let the heart go to its steady rhythm but not for him. He looked down sensing the depth. Even the air around him pushed him down or that's what he thought. He took another small step only inches away from the edge of the cliff. His cellphone was constantly ringing, breaking the whole scary silence. A warm tear slipped down his left eye. He was going to do it. He will do it. He wanted it. As his shoe grazed the small stones underneath to move forward.....
It was midnight and she couldn't sleep at the camp. She was following a narrow steep slope trail with either side rough mountain rocks with a torch in her hand. She was faraway from her classmates and Mr.Pearson. She was tired of trying to sleep. With steady steps, her olive green eyes searched for a place to rest her legs. She saw the steep ending but a very wide opening showing the starry night clearly. She moved fast only to see the flat area mountain end and a beautiful scenary. It was dark black but still it was breathtaking with the moonlight. She wanted to take a moment to admire this wonderfulness but a ringing sound made her eyes land on a black hooded figure on the edge of the mountain. She immediately turned off her torch. It took her seconds to realize that he was trying to kill himself. Her hands trembled suddenly thinking of what she can do. As his shoe grazed the small stones underneath to move forward.....
She shouted "stop" breaking the dark silence. His foot retained back halting himself. Eventhough he wore a hoodie, she can still see his back muscle tensing underneath the thin piece cloth. He didn't turn back. He didn't utter a word. He didn't remove his hood from his head. He was just standing. "Don't do this, get away from there" she said. Her dry lips quivered with her hand shaking trying to bring out words from her lips. When he didn't listen taking his step forward "please" she cried. "Please. Don't do this" She didn't know why her eyes flooded with tears. She knew that the person standing before her has burden and pain in his heart. She brushed away her tears, making herself calm she started speaking "This is not the end. This is not the way it should end. I don't know what happened in your life but I was there in the same situation when my parents died and today is their anniversary". She stepped forward slowly towards his back. She could say he was listening. She continued "Ofcourse memories and incidents haunt even as time passes but to live with it at one point there will be a change". "Wait for hope, wait for happiness, wait for your turn, wait for your time" she said taking another step forward. She didn't take a step any further. "Please" She was waiting, waiting for him to retreat, waiting to see his face, waiting for him to understand. After a very long time, he took steps backward making her take a deep breath. But he didn't turn, he walked along the edge making her cautious and contemplate what he was doing. Her cheeks were dried with tears but her eyes were brimmed with tears. He again stopped with his neck slightly turned but not revealing his face. With his last words "don't cry" in his deep voice he disappeared into the woods.
