"Hi mama and papa, it's nice to finally meet you" I said, with my best childish smile.
As degrading as it felt to put up this farce of an act, I didn't want to squander my new parents first experience of forging a parent to child relationship. As a former parent I should know, a bond between parent and child is something to be treasured.
But at this moment my mother Val'nora and my father Dravein was to startled by my sentence to either speak or embrace me. That's when I recalled that as a Hatchling even though I appeared like child my mind should still be that of an infant.
In the traditional sense my parents would have casted the spell 'clarity' to allow me to absorb and understand the basic concepts necessary, like Speech, morality, and a natural control over my body. Unfortunately I saw no need, but seeing their faces made me realize I broke the one cardinal rule of reincarnating.
Never reveale your intelligence at a young age, especially right off the bat.
Quickly my thoughts went into gear on how I could salvage the situation without psychically rewriting their memories or speaking baby babble after doing so. Yet without warning my sister pounced on our parents wrapping them into a warm embrace.
"Mama, Papa! I'm so glad to finally meet you too! I can't wait to have lots of fun with you both! Right brother!" my sister gleefully spoke with pure sincerity.
"uh huh" I smiled even wider as I joined in.
I immediately followed along, I inwardly applaud my sister's uncaringly bashful behavior at that moment, as it freed me from taking drastic measures. My parents rapidly recover from their stupor as our innocent actions and words melted they're hearts.
Our mother was the first to respond.
"Darling the Godess of Miracles has blessed us once more, She not only gifted them with clarity but delivered them to us earlier than expected!" Val'nora spoke as she cradled my sister while inwardly thanking the Goddess.
My father firmly agreed with a nod before glancing again at me completely astonished and I know the reason why. I specifically lacked the characteristics of all Drackin Males.
I had a human face and a upper and lower abdomen of one as well. The only proof of my lineage was seen by my obsidian and crimson scales on my arms and legs, gold plated scales were in the same places like my sister but also on my tail and the small protruding horns on my forehead.
I had bronze skin and white spiky hair similar to my twin sister, I even shared a symmetrical look to her but my eyes were crimson like our mother's.
While holding me up as if I was a pup my father exclaimed with joy. "I Dravein Vackron, not only have a wonderfully strong and beautiful mate but also offspring blessed by a Goddess, if my misfortunes lead me to such an event then now I truly have no more regrets, Hahaha."
My father's short speech brightened the smiles in the room to newer heights, I just played along but of course I too was a bit cheery by his words.
"To think she made my first born son more human, on the bright side son you're the most handsomest, if I had to compare. Truly it's a trait gained by your mother, mhm mhm." My father was sitting cross legged with me on his lap as he spoke his mind with a few claw rubs to his chin and several conformed nods.
"Papaaa! Me and brother share the same face! So I'm also the most handsomest you've ever seen too, hmp!" Pouted my sister still being held by our mother.
"Hahaha, I don't know about handsome but yes yes you're quite beautiful, my little drake. Your both our pride and joy, Happy Hatch Day little ones!" Our mother proclaimed as she lifted my sister up and twirl around the room.
I laughed and smiled along with everyone, when really my attention was put on the state of my father's mind and the contents of the bag on which he brought home.
'System, scan all properties within my father loot bag'
[...Acknowledged, scanning now...Scan complete, collected data now waiting...]
After shuffling through my father's psyche and the data collected I started to come to the same conclusions he did.
'How intriguing, someone knows my families standing with the near by human settlement is uneasy at best, unfortunately for both groups. Neither know that my father and mother are exiled from the two Drackin tribes, so using Scorched Wyverns was smart but also a terrible miscalculation on the schemers behalf. They've should've gathered more information, how sloppy.'
I kept up my act during my investigation, I still looked all giddy and cheery as my sister. I'll set this matter aside for now, I've got a new family to care for after all.
"Happy Hatch day? What's that pa?" I asked feigning ignorance, with a perplexed expression on my face.
"Well you see son, hatch day is when we as a family come together to celebrate the day of you're hatching and welcome you to the family." Said father, with gleeful pride as he rustled my hair.
"Oh yeah? What else do we do pa?" I asked.
"Well traditionally we gather the tribe so they may greet themselves to you as well as Welcome you both, but do to past grievances including distance between us and our tribesmen I don't know if many will make the trip...." Said Father with a downcast smile.
I acted as if I was showing concern to why he seemed so sorrowful, upon seeing my worried gaze he swiftly regained his vigor.
"Don't worry though, their's still the feast that awaits along with your naming ceremony! You'll both have name's bestowed upon you along with the last name Vackron, officially declaring you both our children....hmm wait? I think I skipped a step but I can't re-" Just as father was about to finish my twin sister chimed in.
"Hey, papa what's that between brother's legs?" asked my sister with a arched brow.
'Seriously!? Out of all the things you could have asked dear sister. Did the system really leave out sex education?' I inwardly rolled my eyes at her query but outwardly looked down to play along.
'Not bad.' I inwardly approved.
Immediately our parents were dumbstruck, my mother Val'nora turned 50 shades of pink while my father Dravein was completely slack-jawed. After there quick recovery they rushed us both to separate rooms to give us a lesson on the Drackin and the Draquin.
'Not how I wanted to spend my first day but that's life. Always being unexpected.' I said with a deep sigh inwardly.
As dawn came we all finally left the rooms, I pretended to be enlightened along side my sister as we wore animal hide and sheets for clothes. As for our parents they seemed rather drained and helplessly tired.
I could only give my sister a quick glare for being the cause of this debacle. She on the other hand dare not look my way.
Our parents guided us to the dining room part of the cavern to prepare our hatch day feast, on the way they both took turns regaling our families legacy on both tribes. This slowly helped them recuperate from their first parental hurdle.
Mother was the first to start.
Our mother hailed form The isl of Flames where The Dark Scaled Tribe ruled, they're called Volcanic Drackin, whose powers not only comes from flames but Nevalion's red hot magma. Her tribe are descended from the Dragon Volusia The Flame Empress, Mother of all Drakes of the Flames.
As for our mother she was the 3rd daughter of the Chieftain Vol'kanus Kouldren and was sent along side a handful of her tribesmen and Scorched Wyverns to colonize in the Meridian Continent to gain a foothold. After months of traveling and small skirmishes, they eventually came across Father's tribe The Mountain Fang.
When we reached the dining room our mother went to work preparing the feast in the kitchen area while Father guided us to the family table. He let us sit on the only two stools no the round wooden table, which makes sense since we weren't due till next year. The stools are rather sturdy and comfortable with the addition of lathered cushions, if this was a chair my tail would have several difficulties right now.
'Dear God! I'll have to worry about sitting properly in a damn chair in the future. How something I've been naturally accustomed to doing for 2 million years will now become a challenge, how hateful.' I internally said in indignation.
Luckily my outwardly expression showed no signs of grimace, instead I eagerly asked my father to continue the tale of his ancestry and how mother and he met. Of course I know all this already, but keeping up an act and spoiling moments like these is something I'd like to avoid, especially for my dear sister.
My father then manipulated the smooth cavern floor and created two stone stumps for him and mother to sit on. Once he took his seat he continued to tell us about his ancestry and how he eventually met our mother.
Our father is the first and only son of the chieftain Dravion Vackron. They hailed form this very mountain eons ago, left here by they're progenitor Roc'terra The Terrain Dragon. All nature and earth elemental type drakes descends from him, Earth Drackin of course was his tribes race type.
Quake Wyverns joined our tribe during our great grandfather's reign where his mate our great grandmother became the bridge and guardian over the Quake Wyverns Hatchery. Eventually our grandmother took the mantel and then father after her unknown early passing, which to this day eluded the tribe.
Father's eyes welled up a little before saying "I wish you both could have met her, she alway rushed you're father to settle down early heh. Then again she'd probably do the same to you son, while you're sister would have learnt etiquette with you soon following after. Hahaha!" Our father laughed full haughtily reminiscing and imagining his mother doing all the things he claimed she do.
Our dear father went on a spiel about our grandmother and all the things they've done and cherished together, little did he know 2 hours flew by with my sister slumped over on the the table in a pool of her drool while I continued to attentively and politely listen to my father's stories.
Mother eventually came to the rescue along with two trays full of delicious and exotic dishes with there intoxicating aroma overwhelming my heighten nostrils to no end.
"My love you've put our daughter to sleep before she could even partake of my cooking! Now stop flapping your gums and help bring the rest of the dishes to the table." Mother ordered with furrowed brows.
My father flinched and quickly stood up and rushed to the kitchen before saying "Yes, Dear!"
'Pistol whipped by the wife, how original.' I shook my head in disappointment.
Quickly my sister rejoined the living thanks to mother's meal prepped around the table but she still proceeded to salivate as she gazed at the smorgasbord before her, truly a feast not even us two siblings couldn't possibly finish in one setting.
As the last slab of garnish meat laid on the table our mother and father held each other's hands and repeated my father and mother's tribes Welcoming ceremonial speech for their tribes Hatchlings naming ceremony.
In unison. "Welcome our honorary children as we bestowe your names, cementing your heritage in The Mountain Fang and The Dark Scaled tribes legacy."
"My son who bares The Dark Scaled tribes characteristics you are heir to my tribe but to your father's tribe The Mountain Fang as well. Yet do to your blessing and debt owed to the Goddess of Miracles Xova. You're name shall be henceforth be Xirius Vackron, Future chieftain of both tribes and Champion of Miracles." My mother proclaimed in passion and pride.
"My daughter who bares The Mountain Fang tribes characteristics you are the future inheritor as bridge and guardian of the Quake Wyverns. Yet do to our debt to The Goddess of Miracles Xova, you'll become the first Priestess of Miracles and still be dubbed Val'neira Vackron" My father herald with his trademark stoic voice and stance.
"May The Hatch Day Feast begin!" They shouted in unison and the carnage began with Val'neira being the first to dig in.
