And so the Hatch Day feast began, with my sister Val'neira face deep in a over grown rat-like creature.
Her ferocious appetite and barbaric eating style was quite unsettling to watch. She went from adorably innocent twin sister to ravenous beast in a matter of 5 seconds was a lot to process in that short window of time.
Mother was delighted that my sister took a liking to her cooking while me and father dare not take any plate from her side of the table.
I was hoping there were any utensil but until I was forced to recall in my fathers memories we hand no such thing's, except for a few knives to cut oneself a portion of food. Again a way of life that was ingrained in me for so long, became obsolete in this life.
For now.
After flinging my inner turmoil aside I grabbed a hold of several skewered grilled meats and vegetables and chow down, the sweet tang and herbal spices exploded immediately within my mouth.
It was the most incredible thing I've ever eaten in the last five years, the soft yet tender meat was jammed pack with juicy rich flavor.
The next dish was that of several large mackerel like fish, lightly seasoned in herbs and peculiar sauce. I sliced up a couple for myself and indulged in the marinated delicacie. Truly marvelous!
I've continued to partake from every plate on the table without end, to my surprise my sister was beating me to every dish I've yet to sample.
'How are you not full yet! I barely started and you've cleaned a quarter of the table, she's no Drackin! she's the F'ing Void.' I couldn't help but curse my luck for having such a greedy sibling in my new life.
Mother and father were on the same page as I.
"Val'neira dear, please leave some for your family! There's enough to go around, if you're still hungry dear I'll make you more later. I promise." Said Mother between twitches of her brow.
Val'neira was in the middle of drinking all the soup in a large bowl and when she finished it, she finally answered.
"Aaah! Really mama you will! Ok I'll eat lesser so everyone can have some of mama's yummy food too." She then hoped off the round table and continued to eat at a much slower pace.
My father then leaned over to mother then whispered.
"You sure you can handle it dear? You already slave'd over the fire long enough today, how about I cook dinner later and if she's still hungry after that I'll handle that too." Father asked mother out of sincere concern.
With a sigh my mother replied to him with. "Thank you Dravein my love, I'll take care of the cooking if she still so desire. But of course I gladly take your offer on Val'neira's future late night meal requests." She then wrapped her arms around father and kissed him merrily on his scaly face.
Unsurprisingly, father blushed.
My sister nearly choked seeing it. So would I if I didn't know how different the antonym of this world's dennison's were compared to my dimension.
Apparently any species with a humanoid appearance on this rock is capable of displaying similar traits of emotion to human's, a coincidence? Maybe not. The fact of the matter is, my reptilian father can make his scales turn red like a woman in love.
I just continued to pat my sister's back out of support to help clear her air ways, she sent a mental message through our telepathic link screaming 'The Hell!!!' but I just chalked it up to the many things the system forgot to educate her on.
'Blame the system dear sister not I, though I should have guessed it left out the knowledge I obtained from both our parents before I modified it. You'll only need to run a refresher course is all.' I relayed through our telepathic link.
She internally screamed her frustration while stuffing her face again after her quick recovery.
Although she's highly intelligent, she's still just a new born child who rather live care free then listen to the monotone voice of the educational lecture from the system.
Pretty boring stuff I know.
I continued to play my role as curious and inquisitive hatchling along side my sister throughout the entirety of the feast.
Asking as much question in a very vague manner to appear naive, my parents answered every question honestly to the best of their ability to simplify it for me and Val'neira to better understand.
Val'neira gleaned more incite from the basic knowledge known by our parents along with some common sense.
I'm just being a doting brother is all, no harm in asking question for her to skip the system's explanation classes while also maintaining my curious child act.
Two hurdles in a single bound, I always say.
After the feast was over, Father discussed plans to take us exploring around our territory to inform us on the boundries and areas we should avoid when we adventure or play.
He stressed the likely hood of us running into monster so we are to remain close to him and mother at all times on our excursion.
Mother chimed in that she'd be coaching us and explaining all of dads fighting styles, race skills, and magic cast's while he defends us from enemies coming around us.
She also made us aware of several demi-human and monster tribes we'll be visiting across our territory in which we protect. Father joined in after, saying it was important to introduce us as the new young lords of the mountain to the tribes under our protection.
Val'neira was basically ecstatic to meet new faces and explore while I remained obediently 'listening' to my parents, occasionally answering or asking questions with a upbeat attitude as usual.
All for my sibling benefit of course.
I was actually on autopilot, multi-tasking several plans and Magical theories that came to mind that I had the system A.I. run several theoretical tests when it's mastery improves, gaining more spells or Magical affinities.
I didn't want to listen to my parents talk about information I already retrieved rummaging through their minds upon our first meeting.
I'm constantly regretting the decision since I'm technically distancing myself from truly getting to genuinely form a bond with my new parents, but since I've peered into their origin's I can only see them as Good hearted individuals that I highly respect.
Val'neira on the other hand is a clean slate who's
life is yet to start and with me by her side she'll possibly join me on my journey for all Eternity, if I guide her growth properly during her future tribulations she could ascend to become like I and the system....
Well we'll see...
So back to my family, it appears my mother and father got to work sewing together three pieces of clothes for me and my sister that seems more appealing than the rags we have on.
"Heyah~ brother! Aren't you excited to go outside, we just hatched and so many amazing things are happening today! I can't WAAAAAIT!" Val'neira exclaimed with balled up fists waving around ssd's sporadically Hehehe, maybe we'll make several Friends!" she cheered, obviously excited about the possibilities.
Father chuckled at Val'neira's enthusiasm. "It all depends if you're mother and I can finish up both of your attires by then but it's still a few hours before midday. So please occupy yourselves for the time being and remain in the cavern, alright?"
Val'neira nodded vigorously and trotted off holding my hand with me in toe saying "Alrighty, Papa! Come on brother let's go exploring the cavern, we can make up some games we can play together on the way."
As I was tugged a long Val'neira asked me several questions when we left their earshot range, "So big brother what are we going to do huh? Can you teach me some cultivation paths the system's been talking about or are we gonna practice our magic, oh oh oh Can you make one of those shiny mechs from your world!!!"
"If not that can you teach me how to lift stuff with my mind, I've seen the images of your um... 'universe' and I'd like to learn it all just like you big brother!" She clamped her hands around my obsidian claws with eyes full of expectation.
"Patience dear sister, there's no need to rush into things as we've got lots of time to do those activities at a later date. As for cultivation paths they can be quite complex for your young mind, we also need to insure you're compatibility with certain path before we even start." I explained to Val'neira to fan out her overpowering eagerness to grow and learn everything in a single day.
Though her eagerness died down her once bunched up shoulders, drooped along with her mood.
"For now we can both practice magic together, but first I'm going to have the system check your status so I can better gauge your strengths for now. May I sister?" I asked with my arm to pat the top of her head, she was still bumped but after hearing about seeing her status she perked up again.
'System display Val'neira's status screen before us, while maintaining a look out for our parents and other sentient entities. Give us a warning ahead of time before their arrival."
[... Understood... System has updated status settings due to new self-discoveries on 'Magic'... (Mana Core), (Mana Grading), and (Core Refinement Progression)...]
Ah yes, the glories of having an omnipotent A.I. even in a world off Magic and Swords it can divulge it's secret in mere minutes.
[... Skills obtained... (Mana Sense), (Mana Absorption), (Mana Fusion), and (Bibliotheca of Mahatma The Thaumaturge)... Host's skill have now been integrated...]
The first two are self-explanatory in away, the last two are rather intriguing. I'll look into their descriptions later.
[...Val'neira's status screen...Prompting...]
Suddenly the mana in the surroundings came together in a gold light that concentrated between Val'neira and I. Then it took the shape of a golden rectangular board and hundreds of Runic text's drifting about its seams, it was also thinner than paper itself with black English writing on its surface displaying my sister's status.
'Is this light magic?' I asked the system in my stupor. If the system is capable understanding the building blocks of Magic and it's laws, that I can grasp but mimicking a holographic display through Magic already only means one thing, the system has begun to innovate Magic!
All within a day! That's something the system A.I. has never done this before.
[...Affirmative, Host can learn 'Light Magic' through your (Bibliotheca of Mahatma The Thaumaturge) skill... this display of 'light Magic' is for advanced users, certain requirements must be met...]
"Okay we're getting of track, sorry sis did you listen into all that?" I asked my sister who stealthly laid her light status board vertically in the air and was now 'Floating'.
It looks fragile, but I wager it could take an incendiary round and it would still hold up.
"Yeah and I got bored so I started messing around with this holographic screen but then to my surprise it was solid as steel hehe." Val'neira said rubbing the back of her head in impish laughter.
"Fine it doesn't matter much for you anyway, for now hop off your status screen and let's see what we have to work with." I said in a firm tone of an elder.
Val'neira obediently followed my request, taking her place to my right. I petted her head for a moment before turning my attention back to the upright status screen.
'open status.'

Fascinating!
Mana cores are like amplifiers and Mana compactors storing as well as strengthening ones mana pool. Red being the weakest and violet being the pinnacle of Mana cores on Nevalion while white transcends to the realm of Godhood in this world.
Which isn't so appealing, Godhood is just an alluring accursed pitfall of enslavement. Truth's for another time.
Val'neira practically thrives in the realm of magic, she's basically built to serve such a purpose. Her cultivation path is nonexistent at the moment, but I can still guide it's eventual rise for now.
She aslo gained four of my newer skills obtained by the system, yet Bibliotheca of Mahatma The Thaumaturge has been barred off to her. Sis didn't like the idea of power being locked away from her so she was very adamant about learning the requirements to unlock the skill.
"Let take a look at them then" I told Val'neira so she can quell her inner frustrations.
"Good as long as I can catch up to you brother I don't care." She commented with a small smile as I'm captivated by her emerald eyes, I put my attention back on the status screen that's name changed to my own.
'Open status.'
