Chereads / Daisy Blue World / Chapter 7 - Lunch

Chapter 7 - Lunch

'What subject and time your last class is?'

Elijah looked into his schedule on a piece of paper. I'm leaning on the wall in the school hallway while he got his schedule and locker number in the admission office.

School is still the same— gray painted wall, dark blue lockers at both side of the hallway, bulletin board every corner in between the classrooms, even the glass cabinet with trophies and medals that being displayed inside are still here.

I recognized some of the students and vice versa. None of my previous classmates are here though, they had already graduated while I'm trying to survive at the training camp. It's a good thing anyway since most of the guys that I hangout with were like me, which are bad influences. We were like, birds with the same feathers flock together. I don't have any idea what happened in their lives after high school, just got a little bit lucky for my dad's way of straightening me up since I most probably ended up in a jail or whatever if not.

'English Literature, its up until three. Man I hate my teacher. Can I just skip school after lunch? Its like the first day anyway. Who the hell even attend class on the first day?' Elijah said exasperatedly. He is overdramatic sometimes I don't even know how we became siblings. He must be adopted. Positive.

'No you can't and ask Luigi to drive you home after school since I'm going somewhere.'

His eyes formed into slit and he's about to open his mouth probably to gossip again but, I just walked passed him and went to my locker. Good thing he didn't follow me.

Only one year left before I will finally set free from this purgatory. The looked that some of the students and even teachers that were directed to me when I walked the hallway are something they condemned about the thing that I did and happened a year ago. It's partially my fault and I'm really shameful for what I did and already regretted it a long time ago but, by how they looked at me, its like I had done the most gruesome felony in the world. Fuck them all to hell!

Although one year had gone through and people go on with their lives, I feel like I'm stuck and still living in the past. It's stifling.

'Ma' man! Bryson is in the house!' A boisterous voice behind me spoke followed by a slapped on my shoulder when I'm about to close my locker. It attracts the attention of most of the students that are walking on the hallway or putting their stuffs in their locker.

I turned around and came face to face by one of the few person that I could truly called on as 'friend'. Samuel Oswell— a very friendly and loud guy, player of the football team and a grade lower than me but, since I skipped one year of class, guess we're going to be classmates from now on.

'Hey man. What's up?' We did our customary handshake and pat on the back. I can't help but to smile because, he still doesn't really change— the same Sam I knew of since day one of school year.

'Same man, same. It's good to see ya back. How's ya training man? Heard ya barely survived out there.'

I playfully punched his shoulder while laughing and he rubbed it, faking hurt but, still had a genuine smile on his face.

'Easy. Training drilled definitely paid off, got my head off the trench. You should signed up for it, put some muscles on that scrawny body.'

He just laughed. Truthfully, Sam is categorized as one of those titans with broad body packed with muscles to the brim and a few inches taller than me. If he was not into any kind of sport, he would likely end up as a bouncer at the club. His characteristics didn't match his physical appearance though but still he's a good guy.

'Dude, I'm hardly breathing cause of these.' He paused flexing his biceps. I just laughed and punched it. 'People think I'm addicted to steroids or some muscle inducing drugs.' He continued chuckling while still flexing the fruit of his hard work. I just only shook my head.

'So, what's ya plan after this? Thought ya gonna follow ya father's footsteps.'

I played the dog-tag on my neck unconsciously– thinking about his question.

I enjoyed my training, the drilled, combat martial arts and used of any kind of weaponry because, it became my only way to lashed out some pent-up anger but, I hadn't really thought about my future yet.

'Dunno man. Just can't decide yet. What about you? Any plan to play professional?'

I'm talking about his football career, he became a quarterback, star player and captain of the team during his sophomore year. We played side by side together but, I didn't really enjoyed it as much as he is. The guy is undeniably a good player, coaches from different NFL teams are lining up on his doorstep to convince him for signing up to become their starting player ever since he started playing.

'Yea man. Got some professional training during summer but, imma still undecided what team I should sign up in.'

'Well, its not like the scouts are leaving you alone anytime soon anyway. So think about it thoroughly and just be the best player that you are. Good luck man.' I patted his back again.

'Thanks man. Same to ya. I'm having meeting with coach so, catch up to ya some other time yeah?'

The bell rung indicating the start of classes. I just nodded my head and we both walked to our different destination.

After switching off the engime, I stepped outside my car and locked it. From the outside I could see customer's crowding and waiting in line inside the flower shop. It must be the busiest time of the day. It's almost lunch time by now though and I can't wait to see Daisy again and treat her some lunch. This'll be our first time we're eating lunch together and definitely not the last one.

I also plan of asking her to go out with me. I intend to wait for a while longer but, that decision bugged my mind the entire night and there's no harm in trying anyway. If she rejects me then. . . I'll just wait for her.

The last customer in line paid the item, and I immediately walked in front of the marbled counter. Megan was a little bit taken aback seeing my face again cause her professional and rehearsed smile briefly faltered.

'Good afternoon Sir. It's you again. How can I assist you today?'

I looked over her shoulder to catch a sight of a strawberry blonde hair with petite frame but, feel dissapointed when I saw nothing. Where is she? I didn't asked her yesterday if she has work today. She agreed though so she must be just somewhere in here.

'I'm not here to buy something. I'm looking for Daisy, we're having a lunch date.' Megan's eyes squinted, processing my words then it nearly bulged in its sockets in an instant and her mouth formed into an 'O' shape.

'Really? Wow I didn't know Bae has a boyfriend.' Boyfriend? That word certainly sounds great. Daisy and I are not into that kind of. . . intimate relationship yet but, I'll just leave her thinking that way.

'She's in the back, we got some deliveries coming right up in an hour so she's tidying up the place to make some space.'

I see. Why the hell she's the only one cleaning? Don't they have other employee or anyone. Its supposed to be her lunch time and I don't want her to skip it regardless if she's with me or not.

'Well, It's lunch time already, she need some energy to finish cleaning up the mess don't you think?' I don't mean to be sound sarcastic but, its just flew in my mouth the moment words came running out, and besides, isn't it her lunch time already? Or is she skipping it?

Megan narrowed her eyes again while having a staring contest with me.

'Well, she insisted on finishing up and I know better than anyone that when she set her mind into something. Bae will do it no matter what and besides, the delivery might arrive anytime now and I got a little busy in front.'

Is she trying to picked a fight with me? Nah. Just bitching around and I'm not seriously going to have a debate with this bimbo. It's a pain in the ass. Woman don't usually let the conversation end when they don't get the last words.

I just clicked my tongue and wait patiently. If its me from the past standing like a statue here and being bitched around with anyone. Well, I would honestly send that person to the nearest hospital. With few broken bones, ribs and unrecognizable face but, I guess. . . military training really paid off— it added a few meter in my short-temper.

After a few moment, the door at the left side of the counter opened up and Daisy waltzed right out holding a broomstick and garbage bag. My mood instantly brightened like when the first time mom brought us to the amusement park.

She bend down to put the cleaning material under the counter and I just followed her every moves, waiting for her to see me. When she stood up, her eyes instantly locked into mine and my favorite smile flushed on her face.

Wearing a cotton pastel colored long sleeve blouse and denim skirt, hair flowing on her back with its natural curled. Even if when there are sweats glistening on her forehead and little bit of dust that clung on her blouse, it didn't made her any less beautiful. As always she still is so fucking gorgeous.

Megan stared at me like how a parent toward their daughter's suitor. She undoubtedly don't like me.

They exchanged some sign language that had Daisy frowning her eyebrows. I just looked at both of them like some idiot from another planet cause I don't fucking know what they're talking about.

'Daisy said if you could wait up a minute cause she still need to throw the garbage bag on the—'

'I'll do it. Give me that shorty.' Daisy shook her head frantically while I raised my hand waiting for her to hand me over the fucking garbage bag. The bin is just on the alleyway at the left side of the shop so she doesn't have to go out through the backdoor.

I walked closer to her instead and gently pried the bag off in her right hand and grab the left with my free one.

'How many hours are her break?' I asked Megan whereas she gave us an amused expression and a sly smirk.

'An houe. Be back whenever you want bae. You're mostly done with the cleaning anyway so just enjoy your lunch date kay?' She finished saying while looking at Daisy and winked her way.

Daisy signed to her something that made the florist rolling her eyes.

'Nonsense. I can handle a few customer and got the list of deliveries so I'll just call you if something come up yeah? Now shoo. You're wasting the time.'

I gave her a brief nod then dragged Daisy outside before she can even complain. I'm really starving but most of all, fucking ecstatic that I can finally have her all by myself.
