Walking up to the throne room door, Aki put on a serious face, his wives having long done so. As the great doors opened, the crier anounced them.
"The S-rank party, Alastor."
Yep, the capturing of one of the demon lords a week ago allowed for that. Easily. There wasn't really any way to tell a powerfull enough A-rank from an S-rank to begin with, so it was mostly a title for the case of people doing something ridiculous. Only a handfull of people reaching this level were ever 'fakes' however, since they'd easily die if they didn't actually have the strenght to back it up, with all the beings that would benefit from killing them and all that.
The king raised a hand, though there was already silence, the handsome middle aged man on velveted robes sitting on the masterfully made golden throne still seemed able to gather even more of the room's atention to himself.
"Friends, you have done a great service to the world, but it was my negligence that allowed for you to be targeted at the heart of my own nation to begin with. If there is anything you wish for, ask and i shaw try my best to fullfill your demands." His rough and autoritative voice resounded, the queen by his side having much the same opinion even if the old lady only nodded her head behind her fan.
"Thanks you, your majesty." Aki bowed, his posture and hand movement perfect for all standarts the strictest of nobles might have. "In the light of recent events, it has come to my attention that i need influence to match my power if i wish to truly protect my family. My request is simple, though i reconize it to not be as easy for a sovereign, nevermind one with as many enemies as your majesty." He made a small pause, all present already anticipating what he'd say to the best of their capabilities. "In the recent incident, i have found myself having my job changed, maybe by divine intervention, but now i have a guider job." His words somehow stirred the congregations of nobles even more. No matter what he said, they could all see how it'd be of great advantage and danger, no matter the actual results. "I wish to be granted a title of minor nobility and allowed to expand the borders of this country. A crescent over Count Nevlar's border towns and villages, a blade over expanding land routes, allowing for more commerce and fortification against those with narrower minds. Populated by monsters of the forest and civilized from the whole continent." He described.

"And now i have more than a hundred capped jobs." He smirked, his wives twitching as they understood that he'd likely just changed jobs and got them capped from deffered XP. Normal people considered doing so a ridiculous notion for obvious reasons, but even experienced adventurers found it hard to get chances at just skipping the leveling process. Aki had several of those just stored away, and had decided it was time to finally take some bonuses out of the simmer since he'd acquired the 'Border Baron' title so easily.

"Hundred and three." The fact his newly leveled system access granted him authority to have two jobs at the same time really didn't help with his gloating.

"Hundred and five" Just like every other protagonist, he quite liked seeing the numbers go up.

"Hundred and six. Ok, gonna take it seriously now." He said, stifling his laughter and selecting two difficult jobs.

"Done, with so many bonuses I even got a level in guidance, so you guys should get even more bonus stats." He explained as he increase pace in the 'slow' road construction linking one coastal area to the other.
The territory Aki had specifically asked for was a line of big fucking nothing that was composed mostly of forests, some mountains and whatever magical terrain they did not have properly charted out, ending around the independent settlements that spawned around the borders of the two big countries, the great forest and them.
Almost no one really understood what he'd planned for the place, but the moment he explained the existence of Duran and how the driads and monster tribes were peacefully living under his administrative plan already, several accusations flew his way even if most were just prodings for his intentions.
Some tedious explanation later, and he gained the right to offer citizenship more easily in his territory. Plenty of resources were offered by the crown then and there, great interest being shown in the creation of the two new port cities in conjuction with the habitants of the deep, their special position allowing for them to more easily form relations with the other neutral faction.
It'd been agreed that in case of successful development, which was more a question of time in everyone's view really, Aki's contributions would quickly allow for him to be promoted to a count.
Of course something like that would happen only after he'd actually cleaned the several monstrous species living there, raised walled cities and established a secure supply line, preferably with all its farmlands and tax paying villages interconnected.
Such requirements were already the bare minimum for proper functionality from Aki's point of view. To begin with, he'd already started with the roads long ago, even creating an ironway from the closer coast to the city with tens of thousands of citizens, the former currently habitated by a couple hundred slaves and some mer-kin looking to make it big or just looking for a new chance at life.
There was only one train at the moment, made by Aki after extrapolations and adding magic to what he thought the functional structure was, which was relatively easy to do considering how steam power was simpler to implement with the small amount of time needed to teach a reliable group to operate and power it through skill and magic, besides the ease to acquire metals and materials in league with steel in high enough amount, but there was already a second one being made.
As a son whose father was completly addicted to kingdom building games and used Steam as his main platform, Aki had thousands of hours managing the big picture in these kinds of things, meaning that instead of having several unemployed citizens doing nothing, he actually had a deficit of workers he could mobilize.
This also ment he was completly lost on the actual paperwork side of things without an already existing format or base to go from, but the four or so original clerks he'd been able to scavange had been of great help there. There were plenty of capable fighters, public figures and even some farmers, but it was all ultimately tied to managing the territory they had before the time of paperwork started. By then, they had a few more assistants working things up. Though the number of monsters able to take such positions was still not even on the double digits, it was still much better than just his mother and grandmother in law.
People were quite interested in his ideas for development, though not all were actually good or feasible, he apparently had a good perspective to give advise.
As Xera interrupted his continuous cast, Aki noticed he'd been so lost in thought over funny or worrying things that he'd started building a bridge over the ocean's surface. It'd be yet another worry in his mind if he wasn't still both mentally and physically tired from recent events.
If he still needed sleep, he'd probably be sprawled on the ground and acting like a spoiled brat demanding company for lengthy naps, though he was admittedly almost as cranky.
"Yeah, I think it's about time we take a break. You girls were also training this whole time, so we can just laze around. Not like many more people can do the job of a whole specialist team of mages, engineers and escorts and shorten the timeframe of months or even years to a bit more than half a day." He quipped, stretching a bit before reaching to give a kiss on each woman's cheek.
"Yeah, I'm pretty sure you still had the worst out if all of us. There wasn't any specially powerful creature either, so how about you just..." *SNORE* "Take Mari for a nap?" Sera tried, the woman in question practically falling asleep in her arms. Aki took a moment to look at the snoring cat girl, but ultimately took her in his arms and fell backwards into a summoned mattress, rolling for a bit until he was spooning the smaller woman and fell asleep with a smile.
She exchanged a look with Xera and they both agreed that he'd probably be slobbering the pillows in a bit. They each had a diferent reaction to sleep deprivation, but things you eventually find out after being married to someone asside, any of them being so tired something like this happened was worrying.
Much like in the island Aki had taken them to 'relax', they could tell he was ultimately forcing himself, his mind undermining itself through his fears and constant phisical exaustion. While his attention was definetly above even what they were used to, their time in there allowed for plenty of thinking between all the action. Their husband was acting weird.
"I know i'm not exactly the one with the highest EQ around, but maybe we should do a party for him?" Suggested the spearwoman after getting some distance, because Aki recorded everything that happened while he slept.
"Maybe do something tematic? No, that'd probably just lead to sex." Pondered the tanker, before suddenly snapping her fingers. "Oh, i know! We could have him spend his spare time teaching us magic!" She proclaimed, her wife's eyes widening in realisation.
"I think i can take the head ache." Nodded Xera.
"C'mon, it's not so bad!" Complained Sera, blushing a bit. Despite what their general looks would suggest, she was actually considered quite the nerd, having two or three levels in a lot of academic skill and actually passing as an above average mage "And he always has those comparisons to your spear form so you can understand it better." She pointed out, making her companion blush this time.
"You know i'm not that good at things that aren't related to weapons or housework." She muttered while averting her gaze, getting her boob poked by a pouting orc as they walked.
"And you know we're happy to teach you. I don't even have something impresive other than my body either, so at least use that which you have." She rebuted, pulling the other woman closer with an arm and kissing the top of her head.
