Chapter 16 - Chapter 16

"I have a question," I began, looking at the housing page for our college, "Do you want to try living on campus or commute?"

"It'd be too much gas to commute from here to campus every day," Aili answered from the bathroom. "Besides, I think it'll be more fun to be with our friends on campus. We can make more plans that way," she added.

I was sitting in the middle of the bed with my laptop on my lap, "With that being said, which dorm should we go for, and would you mind driving me back to mom's so I can get my dorm things?"

"Are you sure you can handle that," Aili asked, peeking her head from the door, "I mean, you haven't been out in a while?"

I smiled as I set my laptop aside and stood up, "What if I told you that I got an email this morning from the doctor saying that I can go back to rigorous events. I was waiting to tell you or surprise you," I said as her face lit up.

"Okay, you just have to let me know whenever you don't feel well," she said, and I nodded with a grin, "promise?"

"I promise," I said, taking a step towards her and wrapping my arms around her as she finished getting ready for work. "I wish you didn't have to leave," I muttered as I kissed her neck.

"You'll have fun tonight," she said, tapping my nose, "you have the password for everything, right?"

I nodded; she gave me the password to all of her college accounts to organize everything for her; she even gave me the list of classes she would be taking this year. "Yes, you did," I replied, "you gave me the password to everything that I may need access to, as well as the times that you want your classes to be at."

She returned the nod combining it with a smile, "What would I do without you," she asked me as she melted into another kiss on the neck.

I shrugged, "You'd probably die from all of the stress. I'm pretty sure if you didn't have me around to help calm you down, you would've either died or killed someone."

"You're right," she said with a sigh, "last year was chaotic," she added. "Promise to not have a year that was as chaotic as last year," she proposed.

"I promise," I said, kissing her neck once more, "at least I don't have to fear having a seizure this year."

She nodded, "Yeah, that helps matters," she muttered as Aili supported herself on the counter as she looked at us in the mirror. "I am so not ready for this shift," she muttered as I rubbed her shoulders.

"You'll be fine," I reassured, "just set your mind to the task, and you'll do great," I added, and she smiled. "I mean, we both survived an intruder. If we can survive that, then I'm pretty sure you can survive this shift and the next shifts to come."

She grinned, "Thanks," she said, "are you going to look for a job as well?"

I nodded, "After I'm done with all of the scheduling, I'm going to start looking as soon as possible," I answered, and she grinned once more. "I will also do some practice tests for my temps if I have the time," I added, and her grin widened.

"I love that for you," she said with that same grin as I smiled

"Well, I can't be an independent person for everything, can I," I asked, and she giggled as she turned around in my arms.

"Sadly, we both have to get to work," she said before ducking underneath my arms and leaving the bathroom.

I pouted, "That we do," I said, following her. When I got to her, I saw a black device covered in stickers. "Why are you giving me the laptop when I could sign in on mine," I asked her, and she smiled

"That's because most of my sign-on information is saved on here, and you don't have to worry about switching between accounts on one computer," she said with that same smile. "I don't want you to stress out when you're only helping me," she added, and I grinned.

"I love you so fucking much," I said, kissing her on the forehead, "now go out there and conquer that shift."

"Before I go out there, let me get something first," she giggled. She rose on her tiptoes and kissed me on the lips. "You'll get more tonight when everything's done," she said before I took her laptop.

I nodded as I grabbed my laptop from the bed and followed her down the stairs into the kitchen, "It feels so good to go more places than just the bathroom," I said, and Aili chuckled.

"Don't do anything stupid while I'm gone," she said with a smirk, and I sighed.

"You should know me by now," I began, "the stupid follow me," I said with a smile. "What do you want me to do in case our new backup comes," I asked, and Aili thought for a minute.

"Run them through everything that has happened since you came back because I'm pretty sure they already know about the intruder," she said, and I nodded. "I gotta go, bye, I love you," she said, pecking me on the cheek.

"Love you too, stay safe," I said as she walked into the garage.

As the garage door closed, I gently set my laptop onto the island counter that we usually sit at to eat and set hers next to it. I then got the paper and set it in between the two before getting some breakfast. Once I got an oatmeal bar and a clementine, I opened her laptop and put in her pin once it woke up. As soon as everything was loaded, I got to work, glancing at the paper every so often to see what she wrote.

By noon I had both schedules set up and reread the book that I was given for my temps test before I heard a knock at the front door. Before doing anything, I checked the doorbell camera to see who it was. When I didn't see anything, I grabbed a bat given to us and headed to the door. I looked through the peephole and saw that it was covered as well.

"Who's there," I asked cautiously

"You're new security," a gruff voice said

"If you're a new security, then tell me why the last one had to leave," I ordered, and he sighed.

"Because she failed in her duties to protect you, causing you and your soulmate to be in danger and one of you to almost die," he answered, and I opened the door. When I opened the door in came a buff man wearing a pantsuit just as how we met Sam in

"Are the only suits that you guys have up there pantsuits," I asked with a giggle, "because this is how my soulmate and I met our first one."

He chuckled before changing into a woman, "Hey Liz," she said with a smile as my jaw dropped.

"Sam," I exclaimed in shock as I looked at my first backup guard.
