It was so hard trying to remember all what Mamey told her but Kamigani was able to list all Mamey said without missing one. She was proud of herself.
"And stop bitting your lips or frowing like that!" Mamey slammed her hand on the table making Kamigani jolted when the cups collided with a clang.
"Yes." Kamigani relaxed her face, she was starting to feel sleepy.
"You have to have this charisma, make it natural." She waved her hands in demonstration. "Not force it, like a charm.... a natural smile a little bit of smile not frowning, do not frown." She shook her index finger.
Kamigani nodded, at least Mamey didn't rebuke her. "Yes Lady Mamey."
"Now smile!" Mamey commanded and Kamigani complied only for Mamey eyes to widen and she started grumbling her hand hitting her forehead. "No do not smile, too much charm, too much radiance, too bright, do not smile too much, I mean do not smile especially to his Majesty!"
"Yes." Kamigani frowned only for Mamey to snapped her fingers in front of her which made Kamigani quickly relaxed her face. Trying to wear an impassive expression she was already getting used to the way Mamey sound one minute her pitch low and next her pitch goes high and the way she acts dramatically and some words spoken by her seemed like she was grumbling to herself.
"His Majesty doesn't entertain girls so do not go seducing him!" Mamey stood up abrutly to once again twirl around dramatically. "What to do what to do what to do..... what... to.... do..." she stopped taking a deep breath and occupied the seat folding her hands on the table giving off a serious pose. "Do not smile at him!" She said firmly like she just made a law.
That was definately an absurd declaration and she was getting unreasonable to Kamigani. "Yes Yes." Kamigani nodded trying to nod off the sleep
"Yes Yes?"
"Yes."
Mamey started her staring contest with Kamigani and it was Kamigani that first looked away. "You say yes Lady Mamey."
"Yes Lady Mamey." Kamigani corrected.
"Posture is important too, you have a nice posture not slouching once which is good." She made a comment.
Kamigani doesn't know if it was a compliment. "Thank you Lady Mamey."
"His Majesty will be moving to the Redroses Villa, there is a kitchen there, you will get there early by five, you will draw his Majesty's bath, his Majesty would be awake by then you can ask if he has a special request for his meal, you will wait on him, lay his bed, dress him." Mamey cleared her throat. "I mean help him dress not that you will peek on him when he is taking his bath and do not help in his bathing! Good?"
Did Mamey just called her a pervert?
"I understand Lady Mamey." Kamigani said politely.
"Then the cook will be done with the food. You will set his dinning wait on him and follow him to court if he dismiss you then you can do whatever you like except seducing him...except seducing him! then by twelve you will go to the Redroses villa, find his Majesty, serve his meal, same at six for dinner, draw his bath then leave when he dismiss you, his laundry will be done once in a week and also your salary will triple."
Kamigani tried to keep up but her eyes lit up at the last word Mamey said. She wanted to laugh and cry at the same time. She was happy and couldn't stop the corner of her lips lifting up in a sincere smile. Drinking with Xanxier made her realised he wasn't harsh and even tried to make her feel comfortable. It was required of him to behave like the highest authority but at that moment it was like drinking with a kind high born. She doesn't know if it was just one of his faces but she was a little glad of how she spent her time in the royal paradise garden.
"What did I say?"
And there she goes. Kamigani frowned and Mamey snapped her fingers at her which made her quickly wear an impassive look. Mamey placed her index and thumb at the corner of her mouth tugging it up as a gesture for Kamigani to smile. Kamigani complied and wore a small smile, Mamey nodded.
"I will wake up by five, go to the Redroses villa to draw his Majesty's bath, I will wait on him without helping him with his bath then I help him dress up and and and lay his bed then go and bring his meal from the kitchen and set the dinning and follow him to court then lunch by twelve, dinner by six." Kamigani nodded summarizing all Mamey told her still wearing the fake small smile.
"Remember if he dismiss you then you leave and you may be called by his Majesty sometimes and also you take fresh wine or juice from Goldman, you know Goldman?"
"Yes Lady Mamey."
"Good if things are too heavy to carry make as many trips or find someone to bring them, help you carry them as his Majesty's maid no one will not listen to you and if they don't report them to me or Master Dorovan Len."
Kamigani lips twitched it was hard wearing a fake smile for long. "Yes Lady Mamey."
"Wear that smile in front of his Majesty at all times, do not break it, you frown a lot so you will wear this smile till tomorrow which means you will smile when you sleep and pray you have time to sleep which means you will only sleep if you get the basic procedures right or when I deem you excellent, I will teach you about the ceremonies later on, the ceremonies yes the ceremonies..." She rambled.
"You said not to smile in front of his Majesty." Kamigani reminded her blinking innocently.
"Not to much, just a little bit of smile!" Mamey pull up a scowl. "Did you drink Wine?"
"No."Kamigani lied. She doesn't want her to know she took wine and Xanxier served her.
She prayed silently to Heaven Mamey doesn't ask her to repeat all she said since she was feeling so sleepy and her brain was getting mushy.
Even though Kamigani doesn't really believe in Heaven but she act like she does. Kamigani had seen Naria prayed to Heaven every night clutching a weird necklace with a pendant shaped like a crescent moon before sleeping and even visit the temple on her way to a mission. Rora do murmur a silent prayer to Heaven whenever she was getting ready for a mission too and sometimes made a statement of not offending Heaven and Kamigani thought if she murder a defendless King the son of Heaven then she would be offending Heaven. Understanding Heaven was a so complicated.
Mamey scowl as she stood up leaving Kamigani on her spot. Kamigani eyes followed her when Mamey stopped and turn to gesture for her to follow. Kamigani thought she would be taught how to serve tea.
"I need to write everything down so you won't miss a step." Mamey flipped the invincible hair behind her. "We have little time for me to turn you into a perfect first maid for his Majesty." She led her into the resident to a bright room painted pink and there were shelves filled with books. A table and chair beside a large open window.
She gestured to Kamigani to take a seat which she did. Mamey only moved to the shelves selecting large books, she piled it up and dumped it on the table dusting the unseen dust on it. She brought out a paper and pen, taking out and ink bottle from a small shelf. She glanced through the books and gave one to Kamigani, opened to the first page tapping on it indicating for Kamigani to read it.
Kamigani stared at the complicated words only for her face to flush in embarrassment. Ayante didn't teach her this complicated words. "Ill... illisti... are.." She tried to pronounce the words to avoid Mamey intense gaze.
"What! you do not know how to read?" Mamey eyes widen and Kamigani shook her head. Once again Mamey started turning around dramatically repeating. "What to do..."
