The room was getting colder due to the open windows that was currently rattling because of the gust. Vane's heart thump violently like it would burst out of his chest. "How..." He muttered his mouth quivering.
Everything was perfect, his plan was perfect. He had sent the bag of golds earlier to Krista. This was not how he planned it. He made sure Trazin would not suspect him and even stole some from the vault. He went through a lot to steal the vault key and made a copy, he made a perfect plan to secure the golds without alerting the guards not working for him. He had the perfect guards for the job, he bribed them and wanted to secure the riches for himself to live lavishly in Trenor but when he heard King Dima Zee died, seeing the opportunity to marry Krista, he made the decision on a whim.
Vane bit his lower lip thinking of his weak attempt to make sure Xanxier doesn't propose marriage to Krista and he wanted to be the fastest incase Xanxier changes his mind. The letter he wrote was enough to make his head roll on the floor.
Xanxier produced a crumbled letter from his sleeve and straightened it "Lets read it shall we."
"..How.." Vane wanted nothing more than to stand up and snatch the letter from Xanxier tearing it into pieces, eat and swallow it to destroy it but he knows his legs would betray him the moment he surge forward. He would only fall since his knees was so weak and he was trembling all over, his hands shaking as he clinched his cloth.
Xanxier cold gaze met Vane only for Vane to bow his head in shame. "I will advise you to listen and not interrupt me." he voice dipped with warning as his gaze returned to the letter.
"Dear Krista
I still love you and not for once did
I forget about you. I think about you
everyday and I have decided to do
everything in my power to marry you..."
"Wait please stop!" Vane begged weakly, he could feel a heavy sharp pain in his heart and it was beating so fast spreading all over his chest. He recalled all what he wrote in the letter. It hurt realising this may be the end of their relationship.
"Do not interrupt me!" Xanxier shot him a cold dangerous glare which made Vane shook violently in fright not for once meeting Xanxier's gaze, his gaze on his trembling hands.
"Please." He whimpered, a tear rolling down his eye.
"Listen." Xanxier warned darkly, drawing his attention back to continue reading the letter.
"My brother is nothing but a fool for
rejecting your proposal, am sending
you this hundred bags of gold as an
apology for not being capable enough
to be the man that you want five years
ago. Any request you make even if it is
usurping the throne of Autumnshell.
I will do it.. all for your love
Your love Vane Otis." Xanxier folded the letter.
"Forgive me brother I do not mean any of those words, I dare not usurp the throne" Vane cried.
"Do you know your crime and your punishment is death?" Xanxier smirked, his eyes almost white and was looking right at Vane yet it doesn't look like it. The eyes was enough to tell Vane he would be devoured.
"You can't kill me." Vane said too quickly. His cloth was drenched in sweat and he had never felt so stucked at a corner. Xanxier's dark veil was concealing most of his face yet Vane could tell each expression and could almost picture how Xanxier's mouth was curved in a wickedly.
"What made you think so?" Xanxier tilted his head giving Vane an evil grin.
"You dare not kill me." Vane yelled standing up trying to get a firm grip of the floor. "You are my brother and Heaven judgment will befall on you if you touch a strand of my hair." He had to try every means he knows to get out of the situation before he gets killed.
"And you think am afraid of Heaven or whatsoever." Xanxier said. His face impassive still standing like a god descended as an adjudicator from Heaven.
Even though Vane was standing he was still not on the eye level with Xanxier since his legs where slightly bent. He was afraid of what would happen if he straighten up and look straight at Xanxier at the same eye level.
"Its just a letter, I only want to marry her and I don't care about Autumnshell throne." He quickly explained.
"But you did five years ago." Xanxier's voice dripped with venom.
Vane almost collapse when he heard that statement but he was mentally drained and his body and system would not corporate with him. He felt like a fool since the way Xanxier said it firmly means he had known for quite some time.
His mother warned him of not stepping on Xanxier's toe when they left Autumnshell. All Vane thought was his mother was being ridiculous. It was unfair of him leaving when he was only eight to Trenor and he only came to visit occasionally and for two years he wasn't able to see Xanxier.
Each time he came to visit from Trenor and go to the Redroses villa they would inform him Xanxier was busy and couldn't see him. It was painful to Vane thinking Xanxier hated him for killing his birds and yet when he was able to see him instead of treasuring their moment he wanted to usurp the throne for love.
"Hmmm.." Vane forced down a lump on his throat and fell to his kneels, his hands planted firmly on the floor. The imposter standing in front of him wasn't his brother. His brother doesn't look down on him and would never suggest executing him no matter what he had done. Being in this situation made him result to the only option he had left. He had to bring back the real Xanxier. "Zilian....."
"Do not call me that!" Xanxier snapped making Vane jump.
Vane knew it was a risk but he had to bring Xanxier back to his senses. "This is your name and here you are conjuring up a name Xanxier? Does your fake name makes you powerful Zilian..." He snarled raising his head to see Xanxier's eyes was glowing white.
"Stop!"
"Tell me why did you lock yourself up for two years." Vane was trying to divert Xanxier's attention. He wasn't ready to die. He didn't prepare himself to die and he wouldn't die in the hands of Xanxier. He doesn't want Xanxier to carry the burden of the knowlege of killing his brother. "You are Zilian! you can never change that Zilian!..." A sharp gust of wind blew and strikes Vane like a blade, he was thrown to the wall and his back felt extreme pain spreading over to his body, he landed on the floor and coughed out a mouthful of blood. He placed his hands on his chest feeling extreme pain in his chest.
Vane raised his head to see Xanxier's eyes were now white as a paper. He didn't plan this, he was only trying to bring his brother back but it resulted in making him angry.
"You You!" Xanxier said in a powerful hoarse breaking cracked voice which echoed twice.
"Help me!!!" Vane said weakly as he clutched his neck trying to see why he was feeling uncomfortable but the unseen force only tightened around his neck and he was choking.
Of all how Vane would die he never thought he would choke and he tried to talk to beg Xanxier to stop but he was unable to talk. Xanxier was only standing, his eyes dangerously narrowed. Vane's face started to turn purple as hot tears rolled down his eyes. His eyes were getting dark but he saw the door burst open and Daminas ran in seeing the situation he grabbed a chair and hit Xanxier's head. Xanxier fell and Kale that ran in quickly caught him.
Vane coughed watching Daminas who only nodded at him. Vane coughed till his throat went sore still trying to think irrationally as he saw Daminas urging Kale to carry Xanxier out.
"Be careful..." Daminas said.
Vane quickly crawled and struggled to get up. He wasn't going to let it go.
