Chapter 34 - 34

Karen sat down on her king sized bed, with a serious look on her face. Her room is painted in bright pink colours with beautiful expensive lights in each corner of the room. Her sliding glass window was slightly moved to the side, allowing fresh air and sunlight enter the room. Her room was decorated beautifully with posters of beautiful girls and handsome men on one side. Karen has always been fond of men with broad chest, so having such posters in her room did not bother her.

There is a plasma TV plastered on the wall. There were also two flower pots at each side of the TV on the ground, with beautiful artificial flowers placed inside them. That alone gave the room, some sort of homely feel. Her laptop and phone was on the bed side table beside the bed. Her father is rich, so everything she did made everyone see she was a spoiled rich brat.

Karen is the kind of girl who always do whatever she can to get what she wants. She has never backed down from something and she was not ready to let it go now. She wanted Harold. She wanted him in her arms and she wanted him very badly. She did not understand why Denise had to be the one Harold loves. Why must Denise always have the good guys? She thought to herself.

Her father entered her room and found her in bed, with her hands on her cheeks, like she was deeply talking about something. Her worried father, sat beside her on the bed facing her. She looked up at him and smiled a little. Her father held her hands and drew close to her.

"What bothers you my dear? Is everything alright, sweetheart?" he asked her.

"Nothing Father. I am fine," Karen replied dejectedly.

"No, sweetheart, you are not fine. Tell me what bothers you so much. And please don't tell me no."

"Well, it's just problems of the heart father. Nothing I can't handle," Karen said.

"Problems of the heart? Tell me about it. I might be able to help you. You know you are my jewel. So tell me dear, what's wrong?"

Karen smiled brightly when her father said that. "There is this guy I like a lot. But unfortunately, he does not want me. He does not even look at me, father," she pouted her lips.

"Which man is blind enough to behave that way with you? Don't they know your father is one of the richest men in this city? Can't he see that you are the most beautiful girl in this city? Who is this man, by the way?"

"His name is Harold. He works with Denise, my former best friend. He is the man who has taken over my mind and thoughts. He is the man who is driving me insane, father," Karen said.

"Oh, so he works in the Wilson's mansion? What does he do there, anyway?"

"He is Denise's personal driver. But, it seems they are dating now. I have seen them both recently and they look like love birds. I really don't understand why she always have to get the men I want. Father, you just help me get him. Help me, please, father," Karen begged her father desperately.

"Denise's driver? Come on Karen, you would not stoop that low. I understand if Denise is in love with him, after all, she is known for always getting cheap things. But you my daughter, was not raised that way by me. Why would you even thin of falling for a driver?" her father threw his arms in the air and got out of the bed.

"Father he is the one I am crazy about. I love him father. Please, help me get him. Please. I want him to be separated from Denise. She always gets the good guys while I get the stupid ones. Now that I have my eyes on a perfect one, she wants to take him from me. Please help me get him father."

Her father sighed and sat back on the bed. "You Iove him, don't you?"

"With all my heart, father."

"Then, I will help you get him. Don't worry my angel," her father smiled at her.

"Thank you so much," Karen said and laughed happily. She then hugged her father with all her might.

Denise was seated in the garden, her mother's garden, going through some files. It was the accounts for her company. She was seeing some things that were not making sense to her. She kept going through but she could not see what exactly it was.

Harold came out of the house, looking everywhere for Denise. He tried looking behind the house and in the car but could not find her. He frowned his face, thinking of where she could be when his face suddenly perked up from the sudden realisation that hit him. He walked towards the garden where he knew Denise woukd be. He found her, seriously looking at the file in her hands. He sat by her, making Denise shift a bit in her chair.

"I knew I would find you here. What are you doing here anyway? Your mother is looking for you."

"I am just going through this accounts the accountant sent to me yesterday. Some things ready don't add up," she said.

"Really? What's the problem?"

"Some numbers don't add up. Look at it. The calculations are all wrong. I just don't understand how this could have happened," Denise said worriedly.

Harold took the files from her and looked through them. He saw what the problem was immediately.

"I think I see what the problem is. Look here, the numbers don't add up because all these figures look like they were made up. Nothing here makes sense. Who did you say brought you this?" Harold said, pointing to a page in the file.

"The accountant. Could it be someone is stealing from me?"

"Look, I thin you should hold an emergency meeting with everyone involved with the accounts and ask them directly who worked on this. Let them see the seriousness of this issue and let them know you will get them arrested if they don't speak."

"What if they don't own up?"

"Then arrest whoever brought you this. I am sure your accountant knows who is behind this and he will definitely tell you."

"Wow, you will be a ruthless businessman one day," Denise mocked Harold.

"I am serious. If this is what they brought to you, then I can already imagine the amount of money they have embezzled already. Don't let this slide," Harold said with a serious look on his face.

"I won't. By the way, how did you figure this out so quickly?"

"I studied accounting at the university. It's just that I could not get a job with it."

"Really? Why didnt you ever tell me?"

"Well, I felt it was no longer important. I got a job as a driver for you and I am happy with that," Harold said.

"You are really good. Why don't you work for me as my accountant then. Or better, my general manager," Denise offered.

"And leave you alone? No thank you. I am okay with the one I am doing right now."

"I love you Harry. I don't know what I would have done without you in my life."

"I love you too, Denise. And I will continue to love you till my last breath."
