Harold stared down at the woman before him. She was still looking stunning in her white beautiful flowy dress. The dress had designs of pink flowers which were everywhere on the dress, from up to down. He could not believe he was looking at her. The day he left, he had promised not to set his eyes on her again. And now, here she was, standing right in front of him.
"What are you doing here?" he asked her, his voice breaking at some point. Seeing her again was bringing memories he did not want to remember.
"I came here on a business deal. I have heard about this company and I wanted them to help me ship some goods from America. What are you also doing here, anyway?" she said.
"I-I work here. I never thought I would ever see you again. By the way, you look good." Harold said and forced a smile on his face.
"It's nice seeing you again. I have been looking for you ever since you left. You and I need to talk," she said and walked closer to him.
"You and I have nothing to talk about. Whatever we had to say, we already said it. So, I don't know what you want to tell us. By the way, if you are looking for the best shipping company in the country, then you are at the right place. Just go in and speak to the receptionist," Harold answered and walked away from her.
"Harry, wait! Please, we need to talk. Please, hear me out," She held onto his uniform, making him to turn around and face her.
"What do you want? What do you want to say? That you did not mean to sleep with Miguel? I trusted both of you and you betrayed me. I thought you loved me just as much as I loved you but I realise that was all a lie. You did not care about me," Harold replied.
Matilda shook her head vigorously. "No, Harry. I really did love you. I still do. Please, I am sorry. What happened between me and Miguel was a mistake. I did not mean for that to happen."
"Well, too late. I do not want you in my life anymore. Because, now, I have a woman who cares about me more than anything and I love her the same. So please, just go in and do what you came here to do and leave quietly. As I said, you and I have nothing to say to each other," Harold said and left the compound.
Matilda looked like she was about to cry. She almost did. But, somehow, she managed to compose herself and walked inside the building. She met the reception downstairs, who greeted her with a smile on her face.
"How can we help you, madam?" the receptionist asked her.
"I am here to see the boss of this place. I actually was introduced to this place by a friend. I was told you guys offer the best shipping services ever so I decided to come see the owner of this place and strike a deal with him or her," Matilda said.
"Well, the boss is a little busy at the moment, but I can arrange for you to meet the manager of this place if that is okay with you? Or would like to book an appointment so that you meet the CEO at a later date?"
"No, what I want can't wait! So I think I would rather want to meet the manager."
"Good then. I will let him know so that you can meet him." The receptionist dialled a number on the telephone that had been placed on the table. After she was done with the call, she smiled at Matilda, who was still standing in front of her.
"You can go to the manager's office, it's the first door on your right on the first floor."
"Thank you," Matilda said and smiled.
After some hours, the manager and Matilda came downstairs. They were both talking and laughing.
"I can't wait to start doing business with your company. I am sure we are going to have a smooth sailing partnership."
"I really look forward to that. Thank you for coming and we look forward to doing business with you," the manager said.
"Same, sir." She said and shook hands with the manager. They both smiled at each other and said their good byes.
Matilda walked back to the receptionist with a smile on her face. "Thank you so much for helping me. I really can't wait to work with you guys."
"Its a pleasure, ma'am," the receptionist said.
Matilda got closer to her desk, and asked the receptionist. "Sorry to bother you. But, does Harold Mills work here?"
"Harold Mills? Oh, you mean Harold? Yeah, he does. Did he do anything to you?"
"No, not at all. Its just that he is an old friend and I was surprised to see him here. It's been a while since I saw him. I guess since I will be coming here most of the time, I will be seeing him often. Anyway, thank you for your help," Matilda said and left the building.
That evening after work, Harold quickly dressed up for his date with Denise. He had planned a surprise for her and had been waiting all day to finally take her there. So, when they were done with work, he drove Denise and himself back home so that they can prepare for the date.
Harold as usual dressed as casually as he could but Denise went all the way. When she came out, wearing the short black, shiny dress that kept sparkling under the night light, Harold could not keep his eyes of her. He kept smiling sheepishly at her till she was finally standing near him beside the car.
"You look gorgeous," he finally said, after staring for so long.
"Thank you, baby. So, can we go now? I really want to know where you are taking me," Denise laughed.
"Don't worry. You will soon see," Harold winked at her.
