Denise got home and had this serious look on her face. Today, Harold was not with her so she had to wait to go home before she could speak to someone about what was bothering her. She was really angry that the people her father trusted so much and gave so many chances to would disappoint him and steal from him. She so much wanted to arrest that accountant but she had to leave him because she knew her father would not want that if he were alive.
She sat in the chair in the living room, with her keys in her hand and leaned back lazily in the chair. Her mother came out of the library and smiled when she realised Denise was back from work.
"You are back early, how was work today?" Mrs Wilson asked.
"Bad," Denise replied lazily.
"What? Why, what happened?" Mrs Wilson frowned.
"Well, I found out that the accountant whom father trusted so much is stealing from the company."
"Wait, what? How is that possible? That can't be. I have known that accountant ever since he joined the company. Your father trusted him very much because he knew how to do his job. So, I am surprised about this."
"I am also surprised as well, mother. I would never have thought he would do something like this. I trusted him too, that is why for the past five years I had not asked for the company's account. He took that as an advantage to steal from us. I am very disappointed as it is."
Mrs Wilson sighed. "So, what do you intend to do?"
"Initially, I wanted to get him arrested so that he would serve the rest of his years behind bars. But, then again, I realised father would not want that so I just fired him. I made sure he was thrown out like he deserves."
"That's too bad. That is very bad," Mrs Wilson shook her head.
"Yeah, mom. It is. By the way, where is my boyfriend? I haven't seen him when I got back and I am missing him already."
"I sent him on an errand. He should be on his way back. Why don't you find something to eat then, since he is not back? You had a hectic day so you should eat something," Mrs Wilson proposed.
"Okay. But before that, let just go and shower, then I will come down to eat, hm?"
"Sure, my dear," Mrs Wilson smiled at her daughter.
Harold had just delivering some documents to the youth organiser like Mrs Wilson asked him to. He walked towards the car and opened the door, when he felt someone standing behind him.
"Well, well. Who do we have here? What brought you to these parts?" the male voice said.
Harold turned, and came face to face with Alvin, Denise's ex. Harold had seen him once, when he mad Denise had gone out to the restaurant to get food some time ago. He still recognised him immediately.
"What do you want, Alvin?" Harold asked, wearing a frown on his face.
"Wow, you remembered my name. Well, I am just surprised about what Denise's driver would be doing here without her?" Alvin teased him.
Harold did not want to indulge him anymore so he tried to politely decline whatever he wanted.
"Listen, I have to go back and I do not have time to play around, so please say whatever you have to say and go."
"Really now? Anyway, how is Denise? I hear she is dating again?"
"And how does that bother you?"
"It bothers me a lot because she is my woman. I love her and I want to have her back in my life."
Harold scoffed. "You, love her? Do you think Denise is some sort of toy you can use and discard at your will? She is human with feelings. And can choose to date whoever she wants. Besides, if you really loved her like you claim, you would not have cheated on her with one of her best friends."
Alvin was angry. He wanted to hit Harold for what he said. So, with a clenched hand and teeth, he charged towards Harold, who blocked him and pushed him back.
"How dare you say such things to me? Do you know who I am?"
"I don't care who you are. Listen, if you think you are so much a gentleman to be insulted, then behave like one. As Denise, stay away from her," Harold warned him.
"And who is going to make me, you?" Alvin laughed sacarstically.
"It would surprise you what I can do if you do not heed to my warning. Have a good day," Harold said and sat in the car, then drove off.
Alvin suddenly smirked. But then his mood darkened. "Denise is mine and I will do anything to have her by my side whether you like it or not," he said to himself.
Harold got back to the mansion a little late than he had expected. He rushed inside to meet Mrs Wilson. When he got in, he saw Denise, who was in the living room, typing on her laptop. She looked up to see who had entered, only to see Harold standing there, looking as handsome as ever with a smile on his face.
"Darling, when did you get back?" Denise put her laptop aside and got up to hug Harold.
"I just got in. Where is your mother?" Harold asked.
Denise broke the hug and turned away from Harold with a small pout on her lips.
"You just got back and the first thing you ask about is my mother? What about me?" she said and crossed her arms.
Harold laughed a little, which really sounded cute to Denise. She smiled but kept her face away from Harold.
"Come on my dear, you know I miss you so much. It's just that your mother sent me on an errand and I need to report back to her. Don't be angry with me," Harold said and hugged her from behind.
Denise giggled like a little girl and turned around in Harold's arms. She placed her hands on his broad shoulders.
"I know. I was just messing with you. Mother is in the library."
Harold kissed her on the lips and placed his forehead on hers.
"I will go see her now. But, don't go anywhere. I will be right back."
He kissed her again and headed towards the library as Denise just laughed.
