Chapter 7 - Chapter 7

AUDREY

I don't know when we got back or how I ended up in my bed. I could barely remember what happened.

"Are you sure you're okay?" Sebastian's voice was soft, not hiding his concern at all.

We were laid on my bed with my head on his chest while he gently stroked my hair, watching Disney's Hercules on the TV.

"I'm sure, Sebastian, I'm okay," I reassured him, glancing up at him. He was still worried and it may as well have been written all across his face in bold red marker.

"Are you one hundred per cent positive?" He questioned, his hand momentarily stopping.

"Yes, now just enjoy the movie with me, Hercules didn't go into the underworld for this."

"Fine, fine. And I think you mean Hunkules." He quoted one of the muses, causing me to laugh.

"Yes, I apologise. Hunkules didn't go into the underworld for this." At this, he chuckled and went back to watching the movie, though I know only another ten minutes would pass before he asked me again if I was okay.

At some point during a second movie, I fell asleep, waking in his arms hours later, both of us surrounded in the duvet. I rolled over to face the sleeping face of Sebastian. He looked peaceful, as do most people when they're not dealing with the hoards of inconveniences life throws at them when they're awake.

I quietly slipped out of his arms and out of the bedroom, trying to make my journey to the back garden as quiet as possible and occasionally swearing under my breath at the occasional creak of the stair.

I made a cup of tea and ventured into the cold air of the early morning, scorning myself for not at least chucking on a pair of socks.

"You have slippers, Audrey, why didn't you pick those up in your mission impossible quest?" I mumbled to myself, tapping myself on the forehead.

I took a seat on the bench, sipping my tea whilst listening to the uninterrupted songs of nature. I felt at peace during the early hours, the chorus of birds chirping being my biggest comfort. I didn't do anything but sip and listen. Sip, and listen.

I was cold, gosh I was so cold. The only downside to early mornings is that they're so damn freezing, it's better to enjoy them with a nice warm house-coat on when you're not recreating a scene straight out of a Tom Cruise movie.

It was in the midst of my slight shivering and the birds not giving any shits, that a groggy voice broke the atmosphere.

"Hey, are you oka- holy crap it's freezing." He wrapped his arms around himself.

"Yeah, I heard the birds singing and I wanted to tell them to shut up in person," I joked. "You're wearing more layers than me, Sebastian. And while you're up, could you nip up to the bedroom and fetch the blanket?"

"Aww, fine. But only because I love you." He shot me a wink and darted off.

I quickly made him a cup of tea and set in on the table beside me, waiting for him to come back with my warm salvation.

"I'm back, here." He draped the blanket around me before crawling in and pulling the other side around him. A perk of having a king-sized bed is having a blanket big enough to cover a small family.

"Audrey darling, you made me tea. You really are the best aren't you?" He took the tea and savoured the warmth.

"I know I am. What would you do without me?" I smiled slyly.

He scoffed. "We both know the answer to that."

My eyebrows drew closer together. "I don't. What's the answer?"

He looked a little confused as if he already stated the obvious; like I was that student who didn't listen to the lecture and asked a question that was already answered.

"Well, I would try to find you." He smiled at me, looking at me in a way I can't describe, the way he has looked at me many times before. "I would always try to find you."

"If it hadn't already happened, that would have sound extremely stalkerish." I mocked, imitating him to which he simply laughed and returned to sipping his tea.

We sat there in comfortable silence for about an hour, maybe longer, just sipping tea and listening to nature. Every so often, a bird would break the scene by suddenly flying out from a tree. At one point, a bird released a squawk that sounded abnormal, to which we both replied "same" and "me".

"Do you know what we need to do sometime?" Sebastian asked, his voice a whisper.

"No." I was still watching the scene in front of me. "What do we need to do?"

"Follow a Bob Ross tutorial." At this I broke my gaze on the trees, turning it on the man beside me.

I chuckled, raising an eyebrow. "That's a bit random."

"Yes, but you aren't saying no." He smiled brightly, causing the skin around his eyes to crinkle.

I took a long glance at him, really looking at him. I just looked at everything that made him...him. I watched the rays from the rising sun dance across his hair, as dark as the night sky and just as beautiful. I tried to hold myself back but, alas, I couldn't stop myself from reaching up and running my hand through it. His hair was soft, so soft, my hand just slid through it with no problems - and now I'm envious.

"Audrey, you okay?" I shushed him and moved on.

I moved onto his eyes with my hand still in his hair. His eyes were the warmest, mahogany brown I have ever seen. Like the colour of the tea that I most desperately loved and couldn't go a day without. His long lashes on a level that would make any makeup lover jealous.

I brought my eyes down to his nose. As a button, it was cute. So cute I couldn't help pinching it a little, receiving a squeak of protest from him, but he let me continue while I brought my hand down from his silky hair, cupping his jaw. His lips so plump, so soft. Unfortunately, they looked so kissable.

"Audrey? What's going on?" He whispered, his eyes meeting mine.

"Don't you know how beautiful you are? Breathtakingly beautiful." I felt like I was stuck in a trance, drinking down his features like they were water in a drought.

"Huh...um, thanks. No one's ever said that before." He smiled sheepishly, a faint blush spreading across his cheeks.

"Sebastian." He focused his eyes on mine, seemingly nervous for what I'd say next. "You need to be appreciated more often."

He sat there like a statue for a minute before smiling widely, his face lighting up like a star. He pulled me into him, my head resting in the crook of his neck. "You are too cute."
