AUDREY
The day of the date has arrived, and I was feeling more nervous than I've ever felt before. The day began with me arriving in the kitchen, my nose caught a scent and forced me to find it; like a damn greyhound.
There stood Sebastian, sporting a short-sleeved shirt, a pair of light washed jeans and a pair of comfy vans. I was instantly thrown off my game, I hadn't seen Sebastian is casual wear since university, since then it's been only suits or pyjamas.
This is weird. Maybe there's a reason he's dressed so casually?
He turned around and caught sight of me, delicately setting something down before coming round the kitchen counter. "Audrey. Good morning, I hope you had a delightful sleep."
"I did, thank you." I sat down on a stool near him. "Why are you dressed so casually? What's happening?"
"Oh, dear innocent Audrey. Believe me, I am bursting at the seams trying to keep this a surprise for you." He smiled brightly. Normally that type of smile is just too bright for the mornings but since he's taking me on a date, I'll make an exception. "I made you crepes."
He made me CREPES!
"You made me crepes?" I gasped, itching to dig into the plate he is currently holding.
After an eternity, he sat the plate down in front of me with a fork and knife. If you don't think I threw all my manners out the window when the plate touched the surface of the countertop, you're so wrong on every level.
"Wow, you really love crepes." I nodded enthusiastically at this. I then began to regret eating like a pig, he wanted to take me on a date and now he is taking an animal on a date instead. Just as the embarrassment began to creep in he got his fork and stuffed his mouth with crepes. "I'll join you on that." He mumbled as best as he could over a mouth full of crepes.
I covered my mouth as I laughed, thanking whatever entity caused me to scarf down the crepe and swallow it quickly. He simply winked at me and continued his conquest to devour the crepes.
"Audrey, my love." I perked up. "You need to dress casually, I want you to be comfy. The date might include a lot of walking, but don't worry, if your feet get tired I will carry you."
Crepes, comfort and he's going to carry me when I'm tired? I could swear I'm hearing wedding bells ringing in my ears.
I gulped down the crepe before asking my question. "What will we be doing?"
"That is for me to know, and you to find out." Aw seriously? You're going to go all mysterious on me now?
"Do I at least get a hint?" Please, give me a hint. I don't like suspense.
"Nope," he replies, popping the 'p'.
I finish my crepes in a huff and quickly get ready. By the time I meet him at the door only twenty minutes had passed.
"Are you ready?" I nodded my head and smiled, excited but also afraid.
We got in the car and he drove to wherever he was holding the date. After a while, I heard Sebastian ask me something.
"Sorry, pardon?"
"What are you thinking about?" He turned to smile at me.
"Oh, nothing." I shrugged.
His eyebrows drew together. "Nothing?"
"No."
"You really weren't thinking of anything."
"No. My internal monologue is In The Hall of the Mountain King on a constant loop."
"Really? Woah." He laughed. "That's amazing."
"What do you mean? It's so distracting, like, I'd be sitting somewhere doing work or something and next thing you know, top ten classical pieces are on and I'm distracted. Then there's the aspect of things seeming they're okay and then becoming extremely fast to a point that it's comical."
"Well, I guess it's a bonus that I like Greig then."
I laughed, my excitement levels shooting through the roof. "I'm swooning."
"Calm down, calm down. You don't need to get so riled up by boring old me."
"Oh stop it. You know Rachel wasn't the only girl who had a crush on you at Rowell Academy."
We halted to a stop, reaching our destination. I got out of the car and took a step towards the building, however, a strong grasp held me back.
"What do you mean?" Sebastian almost resembled a lost puppy.
"I'm confused. What's wrong?"
"You said Rachel wasn't the only girl who had a crush on me." He pressed, eyebrows furrowed.
"Yes, so many girls had a crush on you. Did you...not know this?" No response. "Geeze, how oblivious are you?"
"I never really thought...I just never noticed." He shrugged. "Either way, I chose you to go on a date with, so shall we proceed?"
"Still not a Pokemon, but yes, we shall."
I had no idea where we were. We walked through and were greeted by a man smiling at us. Sebastian talked with him for a few moments before he directed me down the hall. We entered a room and there was a bed, a table on either side of the bed filled with snacks and drinks and a projector hanging from the ceiling.
"Sebastian?" A bed? What does he think I'd do with him?
"Before you freak out, I'm going to explain. This is a place where you can hire a room for a private showing of a movie. Couples seem to really like watching movies in bed, plus they're comfy."
"And the movie we will be watching is?" I coaxed.
He grinned. Now I was getting worried. "Detective Pikachu."
"Detective Pikachu? Seriously?"
"Hey, it's actually a really good movie. There's just something about Ryan Reynolds that just..." He paused, trying to find the right words.
I giggled before replying. "Just, tickles your pickle?"
"Ryan Reynolds would absolutely approve of that."
"I'm glad he would."
We sat in silence while we watched the movie, Sebastian had his arm around me and my head was leaning on his shoulder. Every once in a while we would change positions but it always resulted in us touching in some way or another, be it his arm around my waist or his head on my lap.
After the movie, walking out into the world felt like a shock to my system. It was bright, so bright, I felt my eyes shrinking into their sockets. It was noisy, and not the good kind. It made me realise I just wanted to stay with Sebastian...for longer than I thought.
SEBASTIAN
I wanted her, in so many ways that I thought wasn't possible. I wanted to be on a bed with her in my arms, watching a movie. I wanted her near me when we ate, so we could talk about our day. I wanted to hug her every time she started crying over an animal and its cuteness. I wanted to tease her and inwardly die over her adorable pink cheeks of embarrassment. I wanted to sing really badly, not giving a care in the world about who hears us. I wanted to be there for her when something happens in a book, whether it be happy or sad. I wanted every single type of love, so long as it is with her.
I watched her now, I couldn't contain my smile. She was crouched down and petting one of the fluffiest dogs I have ever seen with tears streaming down her cheeks because it gave her its paw. She looked up at me and my breath hitched.
If anyone else saw her, they'd think her crazy. She had tear stains down her cheeks, mascara along with it. Her cheeks were red and her skin became blotchy. If anyone else saw her, they'd think she looked like a mess, but to me, all I saw was a masterpiece.
I wanted this masterpiece and every brush stroke that came with it. Every mistake, every accident, every perfection. I wanted it all.
Everything she could give me I would gladly take, I wanted all of her.
