Chapter 1
Every day is the same for me. Get up, eat, walk to school, you know the everyday life. That is....until today.
I was running late to school, which rarely happened, suddenly "Oof," I slammed into someone while I was hurrying to school. I offered a hand to help her up while muttering an apology.
She, or maybe he, grabbed it and said, "Thank you," She had a surprisingly deep voice, she looked exactly like me, I asked, "Are you a guy? What's your name?" She/he raised her/his eyebrows "Do I look like a girl? And my name is Adam Darkwaters."
I stuttered out, "Uhh, yeah you do look like a girl since you look like me or I look like a boy cause I look like you. My name is Avery Bane. Oh god, I have to go! I'm going to be late!"
Adam exclaimed, "Wait! Avery, I ran into you because I need to talk to you. Just give me a minute."
I asked him, "What? You need to talk to me? You don't even know me."
He quickly responded with, "Avery Bane, 17, birthday December 22, 2006, middle name Rose, lived in an orphanage since she was 11 months old, can do martial arts and can play many sports. Which means you are in pretty good shape."
Shocked, I asked," How do you know that about me? And what do you want? Are you a stalker? I've got pepper spray!"
Adam rolled his eyes, "No, I'm not a stalker. I want us to switch schools."
I exclaimed at him, "What?! No! I'm not switching schools with you!"
Adam said quickly, "Wait, wait, wait, hear me out. We look the same right? So it wouldn't be any different. Besides, you owe me for running me over. And I've already brought your stuff to the apartment."
Raising my eyebrows, "You did what? How? And no I don't, you didn't even get hurt."
Adam sighed, "Have you seen the way we look? I just told the orphanage that I was your long lost twin. Anybody who laid their eyes on us would have thought we were related. And yes, you do. I could have been run over by a passing car. Please."
I stared at him suspiciously, "What do I get if I do, do this?"
Adam replied, "Food, a place to live, clothes, normal necessities, anything else you might need, and you owe me for running me over."
He did get me out of that orphanage. Sigh, "Fine, okay. I'll do it. I'm assuming you know where I go since you know so much about me. Which school do you go to?"
"I got to Princeton High."
I raised an eyebrow, "Seriously? You go to a rich people's school? Ugh."
Adam nodded, saying, "Yes, it is a very elite school. And it is part of my family tradition
too-" Bzzz Bzzz.
He pulled out his phone, "Shoot, it's time for school. Hurry up and change uniforms with me. I'll explain more on the ride to school."
My eyes widened, "Wait? What? Change? Where? In the car with you?"
Adam rolled his eyes, "Of course. Where else?"
Crossing my arms, "Somewhere without a guy that can see my lady bits?"
Adam rolled his eyes again, "I don't care about your lady bits because I like manly bits. Now hurry up! Get in the car and change!"
I glared at him. Ugh, the audacity of this dude! "Geeze you don't have to be so bossy about it."
Adam sighed impatiently, "Yes, I do, or else we're going to be late on our first day of school!"
"Okay, okay," I said while taking off my school uniform exchanging it for Adam's Princeton High uniform.
After a few minutes of changing clothes, I ask, "So can you tell me more about Princeton High?"
Adam replied, "Of course, my family has been attending Princeton for generations. Every member of the Darkwater family has been captain of the martial arts club. Oh, Princeton is an all-boys school, did I forget to mention that. Whoops."
Glaring at him, it seemed like I was doing a lot of glaring in the past 15 minutes, "Wait, you want me to go to an all-boys school and become captain of the martial arts club?"
He replied, "Yes, that is exactly what I want. And please don't let them find out you're a girl. Oooh, hey, we're almost there." Adam turned towards me, "So, do you have any rules for me to follow for our agreement?"
Thinking for a second, I answered him, "Uhh, not really, just keep up with your or my grades."
Adam stared at me, "No friends you need to tell me about?"
I shook my head, sighing, "No, make some if you want, but I never really had any friends, I wouldn't have done this if I did."
Smiling, Adam said, "Alright, I'll keep up with grades if you do too, okay?"
I nodded, "Yeah, sure, okay. Wait, you don't have any friends either?"
Adam nodded, "Well, I would like to think of us as friends, but other than you there's nobody else, but Thomas here, my caretaker/driver."
"Okay, well feel free to make as many friends as you want. We're almost there."
Grinning, he said, "Oooh, okay have fun and so will I, hehehe."
Stepping out of the car I said, "Uhh, okay, bye."
And so began my first day at Princeton High. Wish me luck, because I was going to need every little bit of it I get.
