Chapter 10
The moment I went into the party, I knew this wasn't my crowd.
The music was blaring until I could feel my eardrums vibrating, and everybody looked like they were grinding against each other, which I wasn't a fan of watching.
William poked my arm. His mouth was moving, but I couldn't hear a thing, I pointed to my ear and shook my head, meaning I that, couldn't hear him.
He leaned down, and shouted in my ear, "Can we go back outside? I need to talk to you about something important."
I nodded. We walked through the crowds of people, then suddenly, William disappeared. How was that possible? He's a big guy, like giant-sized big. I turned in a circle on my tiptoes, then suddenly I felt a hand grab my arm, I felt like 10 years had gotten stripped from my life, but I realized that it was William.
After that William held onto my wrist, pulling me outside with him.
Then suddenly William grabbed my shoulders, "Adam, the reason why I asked you to go outside, is because I need to talk with you."
I nodded, "Okay, what is it?"
William looked into my eyes, "Adam, I need to ask you a question, and you have to be completely honest with me. Promise."
I swallowed, "O-okay. I promise." Oh god, what is he going to ask me?
William's eyes never left mine, "Adam, are you a girl?"
I start sweating, "W-why would you think that, William? Your so funny, h-ha ha ha ha."
William stared at me, studying my face, "You promised that you would be completely honest, Adam, is that even your name?"
I slouched, "William, I-"
William glared, "Answer the question, Adam, and answer it honestly. I promise I won't feel any different about you, you're my friend. Are you or are you not a girl?"
I sweat, even more, "I-I-I," I slouched, there was no way of getting out of this, he was going to find out the truth eventually anyway, "Yes, yes, I'm a girl."
William sighed, "Why? Why do you lie about your gender?"
I asked, "Do you want the short version or the long one?"
William raised an eyebrow, "I want the truth, starting with your name."
I nodded, sucking in a breath, "Okay, my name is Avery, and inside that party, right now is the real Adam Darkwaters. He and I made a deal so that I would go to his school and he would go to my mine and in doing so we had to switch identities, so I became Adam and he became Avery, we also made up a lie that we were twins because that would be the easiest explanation of why we look so much alike. Oh, and the reason I became Captain of The Martial Arts Club was, that that was Adam's family tradition, and we're living together. Any questions?"
William stared at me with surprise, "You live with a boy?"
I stared at him in shock, "That's it? That's all your questions? And yes, I live with Adam, he's gay. Please don't tell our friends, William."
William nodded, "Okay, I won't tell them, that's your decision to make, and no, I still have one more question. How does it feel like to pretend to be a boy?"
I shrugged, "Easier? More comfortable? I like being a boy. It's nice."
William nodded, "Okay, let's go back inside."
After the party, I told Adam what happened there.
Adam was a little annoyed, "So, you told him?" Sigh, "Okay, that's fine, he won't go telling everyone right?"
I nodded, "William promised, and he will keep it, he's my friend."
Adam sighed, "If you say so, Avery. Good night."
"Good night, Adam."
I went to my room and grabbed my clothes, then I headed to the bathroom.
After the shower, I read a little, then I fell asleep, it was already almost 1:30 in the morning.
And thus, ended my day.
