Chereads / The Schatten Chronicles / Chapter 12 - Chapter Seven

Chapter 12 - Chapter Seven

'So Raiden,' Jennifer decided to break the silence while they were walking back to their house after their classes, joined by Aaron (who had been forced by Jennifer to attend the last class), 'You didn't tell us you had a boyfriend.'

What? Raiden stopped in her tracks, sure she had misunderstood. 'I beg your pardon.'

'You heard me clearly,' Jennifer wiggled her eyebrows, 'you didn't tell us you had a boyfriend.'

'Yeah, why didn't you. Is it because you have feelings for Jayden too?'

'What!' Raiden snapped her head so fast she felt a cramp.

'Come on Raiden,' Jennifer pressed on, 'I know it's only been one day but you seem to be whipped for him. You're always flustered when he's around. Admit it you have feelings for Jayden.'

'I absolutely do NOT have feelings for him.'

'Oh,' Jennifer giggled, one that seemed overly sweet and deliberate, 'I absolutely believe you.'

'Yeah, we believe you loooove Jayden.' Aaron cooed.

Raiden ignored both of them and continued to walk back to her house.

'Hey come on! We were just joking! Don't take us so seriously!'

Back at Gardien house, Raiden was again greeted by the sight of Travis and Sarah, appearing to be fused together, almost eating each other's faces off as if their lives depended.

'And you'd think this is a school for the elites.' Raiden muttered under her breath as she walked past them trying not to be noticeable.

And luck was a person who never wanted to be on her side.

She had barely climbed the stairs when Jennifer and Aaron came bursting in.

'RAIDEN STORM WHO THE HELL GAVE YOU PERMISSION TO WALK AWAY FROM US LIKE THAT!' Jennifer's voice boomed throughout the house.

Sarah got startled by Jennifer's voice and pushed Travis off her so hard that he fell off the chair and crash-landed on the floor. Aaron burst out into laughter.

'Damn, Jennie,' He patted Jennifer on the back, still laughing; 'your voice actually has the power to make people fall down on their butts. Now that is a superpower I would kill to have.'

Raiden groaned internally. What do these people have against being quiet?

'Well technically I didn't walk away; I walked faster than you two.' She pointed out, earning a glare in return. It seemed so deadly, she was surprised Aaron didn't recoil.

Jennifer sighed. Clearly, she didn't have anything to say against that.

'Yeah, right.' She glanced at Sarah and gave Travis a disgusted look as she trudged towards Raiden, with Aaron hot on her heels 'Let's just go to my room. I feel sick of seeing trash around here. Gotta get down to cleaning this place by myself one day.' She had just caught up with Raiden when Sarah held her back.

'And where do you think you're going, Kurosawa, after calling us trash?'

Jennifer feigned surprise.

'I don't know what you're talking about. Please speak clearly Sarah.'

Jennifer's casual tone angered Sarah even more.

'You know exactly what I am talking about Kurosawa. You just called us trash.'

Jennifer raised her eyebrows.

'I never called anyone trash, Sarah. I just said that I feel sick on seeing trash around here.' she fake giggled, 'I didn't call you or that French blonde man whore trash. Of course, unless you have finally become intelligent and realized what you truly are, it's not my problem.' She shrugged nonchalantly.

Sarah flared up. Raiden could see her shoulders heaving up and down in anger.

'Oh Kurosawa, you think you're so smart, don't you. Remember, you're just a poor gifted person who has been let into this school on scholarship. Almost as a begging.'

Jennifer shrugged again.

'I know I'm smart, Sarah, I don't need to be told twice. And also for your kind information, and you better drill this fact into both yours and your whore boyfriend's minds, that being smart is precisely the reason I have been able to attend this school, unlike the two of you, who have to go to their daddies acting like spoiled little princesses to get admitted to a place and take away seats that rightfully belong to other people, only because they have money. So cut the crap and do not disturb me again.'

And she turned around and trudged up the stairs, her long hair slapping Sarah's face while Aaron and Raiden kept staring at Jennifer's fading back trying to process what had just happened.

'I really like it when that girl whips your ass with words every time you try to insult her.' Aaron commented, 'It's amazing really. No matter how much you try to, she always finds a way to shut you up and manage to get the last say. Admit it, Sarah, you'll never be able to bully her no matter what. What have you got with her anyway, I don't understand.'

'Shut up Stevenson, you don't know what that girl has done to me.'

'I very well know what the girl has done to you, Sarah,' Aaron defended, ' the question is what is it that you have not done to her? don't think I do not know how you paid Kasper not to go to the airport to pick her up. Don't think I do not know you were the one who paid those seniors to rape Jennie last year. If Jayden had not caught them who knows what would happen.

I know a lot of things you have done to Jennifer, Sarah. You're on the list of the most disgusting people I've ever seen or met. Just because I flirt with you sometimes, or Jayden is nice to you doesn't mean that puts you off the list. There are a lot of things I know you try to do to her and I have enough evidence to prove that. Enough evidence to get you expelled.' He walked closer to Sarah, so that he was just a few inches away from her.

'Listen here Gallagher, just because I'm nice doesn't mean I'll always be nice. Two can play this game. And I don't mind getting my hands dirty either, as long as she is safe. So, I'm being nice and warning you, stay out of my best friend's way, or the consequences won't be nice.' He walked back a few steps from her and smirked.

'Of course, I know you're smart. You won't do any such thing that would end up with you getting expelled now, won't you. You just stay away from her and I will make sure everything stays peaceful just like it is. You really don't want the whole school to know where you sneak off in the dark now, do you. See ya.'

And Aaron walked away from them, still leaving Raiden dumbfounded as to what had just happened.

These people sure as hell are too ferocious for their looks. She concluded.

She glanced at Travis who still seemed like he had been put to trance mode as soon as he had fallen down on his butt and then at Sarah whose face had turned red in embarrassment.

'Uh, I think, I should check up on the two of them.' Raiden awkwardly said, leaving the two of them in their state.

She decided to go to Jennifer's room first as she expected Aaron to be there too.

She was about to knock on the door when he heard voices. Aaron's and Jennifer's.

I'll probably come later, it's bad to eavesdrop.

But you do wanna know what they're talking about.

It's a bad habit.

You still wanna know.

They're probably having a private moment in there.

You're their friend.

I've only been here for one day.

They already consider you as their friend.

That makes it worse!

Raiden was having this fierce fight inside her head when she heard a voice from behind.

'Are you gonna enter that room or are you standing here like a guard while people probably having sex inside?'

Raiden was so startled that she would have probably screamed loudly had a hand not clamped on her mouth from behind, preventing her to do so. Raiden struggled against the grip.

'Jesus Christ, calm down. If they are really having sex, and if you're not guarding that door then it's bad to eavesdrop on them like that. Unless of course, you're interested in a threesome, then you can enter that room. You're not interested in a threesome are you?' The hand let go of her mouth and Raiden turned around to see Jayden smiling.

Raiden placed her hand over her chest. Her heart was probably scared to death and was running at the speed of about a thousand miles an hour.

'Why...the hell...did you...have...to creep behind me...like that?' Raiden asked taking in long deep breaths to calm down.

'Whoa, were you actually trying to go in and do a threesome? My, my, my, Raiden, I really didn't know you were interested in stuff like that. You seemed really nice yesterday. Well, you can't judge a book by its cover now, can you?'

'Will you stop jumping to conclusions?' Raiden exasperated, whispering, 'And do you mind keeping it down, I'm trying to listen to a conversation here.'

'You do know it's bad to eavesdrop right.' Jayden pointed out, earning a glare from Raiden. Jayden chuckled and threw up his hands in the air as a sign of defeat.

'Chill, I'm just messing with you. Don't have to get so perked up. Lord, look at you your face is red right now, you look like a living tomato. Or are you blushing because you like me, huh? I don't blame you really, I tend to make girls blush when they see me, it's not your fault. I know I am irresistible.'

Raiden gagged. Why do all the hot guys have to be this cocky.

'Irresistible my ass.' Raiden commented.

'Chill, Raiden, chill. I'm saying it again, I'm messing with you, don't take me so seriously now, will you? Now tell me, why are you trying to eavesdrop here?'

'I think you should hear the full story from Jennifer and Aaron.'

'Sure I will just tell me the gist.'

'The whore couple was making out, Jennifer was disgusted, Sarah was trying to be a bitch and both of them retaliated.'

'Not a good gist, but I'll manage. I guess I'll have to listen to them.'

'Yeah, I was just wondering whether I should enter the room or not. They may be having a private conversation.'

Jayden shrugged and ran a hand through his hair.

'That may be true, but I think you should enter, in case, you know, the two of them decide to get wild all of a sudden. They may be best friends, but I've seen the way they look at each other. The mouth lies but the eyes don't.'

'That's true.'

'So, are we gonna enter, or are we just gonna stay here like that?'

They didn't have to enter the door surprisingly. Jennifer's door opened and Aaron walked out. Jennifer just stood there holding the door while rubbing her eyes with one hand.

'Thanks again Aaron, you're the best.' She smiled weakly.

'It's alright Jennie, and remember that, no matter what, I am always here for you. Sarah is just another bitch. Ignore her. You're already successful in ignoring Guillaume; Sarah will not be much of a problem.'

'I know, it's just hard.' Jennifer hiccupped.

'I know, it will be fine. Stay strong now.' And Jennifer closed the door. Aaron just smiled as he leaned against it.

Jayden glanced at Raiden before smirking at Jayden.

'So Aaron, when are we getting to hear the wedding bells?'
