"Why did you leave the room?" Ace asked seriously.
"Like I said I was bored and I wanted to know what was happening."
"Being bored? That is even more stupid then catching a butterfly." Xenon just remembered the excuse he said, I guess we all know what Xenon is bad at.
Ace walked away from Xenon. Where was he heading? He followed Ace, he was going outside on the story. (Ace's base was a tower). He sat down at the edge of the balcony, Xenon joined him.
"Do you wanna know the reason why I'm helping you?"
Xenon was taken aback. He obviously wanted to know the reason but her thought it was because he doesn't want to get involved with the council.
"Yes." Xenon responded.
Ace looked at Xenon's eyes, they were filled with sadness.
"Around 10 years ago, I met a vampire."
A vampire?!
"Her name was Anne, she was only 7 and had no family." Ace's eyes started to fill with tears. Is that even possible, I mean he's a ghost?
"Anne got lost just like you, and I took her in. I cared for her, I protected her, at least I thought I did. It was one rainy after noon the village I lived in was under attack by demons. I ran away with Anne to a deserted forest but little did we know that was the borderline forest. We got close to a ghost army base. I would've never known that would be the last time I see Anne."
Ace's face went dark, Xenon put his arm on Ace's shoulder and tired to comfort him.
"She saw some food lying on a table and went to go grab it, we hadn't eaten in days. When she reached for the food, a ghost soldier found her and grabbed her by the hair, her screaming echoed. All I did was watch, I couldn't do anything. She was taken to the capital, where she was later hanged, I saw the whole thing and I will never forget it. Still to this day her body is hanged in the capital for everyone to see."
Xenon had no idea that Ace's background was this sad.
"I'm sorry." Said Xenon
"What's done is done." Ace replied, "Since I failed to protect Anne, I will not fail to protect you."
Xenon felt touched by Ace's words. When he looked at Ace, he wanted to help him but Xenon didn't know how.
"Don't worry, I will no leave by your side." Xenon said confidently.
