Chapter 32 - The first rule of war

The student leaders remained quiet because they knew nothing of Joaquin's disappearance (most of them.) But Mr Albion who had been there when the Warmonger started to change did not want to believe that, he was restless and operated on the knowledge that more than half of the school were afraid and if not hated Joaquin. They are kids and they don't know any better, but after all the stories they were told about the Warmonger you would think that they would be wise enough not to drive Joaquin into a corner.

"TELL ME NOW!" He said with a deep voice which forced the students onto their knees, all of them but Ruben were being pressed by the force that leak from the blonde giant.

"You who has the last name as he, do you have any idea where the bleach is?"

"I wish I did sir, I wish I did," Ruben said as he scrolled through the students, his eyes met with the Idol Prince's and the prince ducked.

"Get back in the bus, if the bleach is not back in 10 minutes then get ready to set out and look for him," Miss Modred said as she cancelled Albion's pressure.

The student leaders did not hesitate to make a quick escape. "Why did you let them go? Any one of those fools could be responsible for his disappearance, more especially Basil and To-Wei. Those muscle heads are going to suffer for this when we get back." said Albion as he stomped forward.

"Like you're one to talk, those two take directly after you." Miss Modred said as she followed Albion into the bus that stayed behind as the others left. She looked inside and noticed Ruben standing in front of the Idol Prince.

"Where did you leave him, if we can hurry he will let this go," Ruben whispered.

Beipan who was sitting next to the Idol Prince's hesitation and pulled him away from Ruben's view.

"Wherever that monster is, he is probably dead," Beipan whispered.

"The first rule of war is to know your enemy as much as you know yourself, do you know who taught me that?"

"The knight training you?"

"Joaquin, he is the one who taught me that. Do you think that killing him would actually kill him? I will repeat myself, tell me where he is and I'll stop him from hunting you two down."

The Idol Prince tried to get up from Beipan's chest and say something, but only a grunt was heard as Beipan tightened his grip on him.

"We have nothing to fear. Joaquin led several students to their deaths, and many of us barely even got a passing grade following..."

"Did he ask you to follow him? Don't get me wrong, I'm not at all thrilled that some students lost their lives because of him. But I know for sure that he never asked you to go with him. On another note, I don't know why but Joaquin tried his best to keep you in the guys alive, in a tomb-like that on any normal day only 10% of those who entered would return."

"Why should we care that he sacrificed a few golden trinkets for precious human lives?"

Ruben took a huge breath and calmed himself down. "you better pray he does not consider you enemies when he..."

"When I what?" A voice came from the entrance of the bus. It startled Albion who jumped out of the way to expose Joaquin. Instead of the school tracksuits, he was now in a giant white robe and wasn't wearing any shoes.

"What kept you?" Miss Modred asked.

"I was picking up a few monster cores, I suddenly got a need for twice my normal revenue."

"Fork them over, I'll need to get on some late fees." Mr Albion said as he grabbed Joaquin's head.

"Ouch," Joaquin said in a bored tone as he pointed outside.

Mr Abion looked out of them and saw a massive pile-up of sacks filled with monster cores and in front of them were goblins wearing thorny leashes. It seemed as if they were used to transport these and were also beaten into submission.

Almost everyone on the bus was in awe as they leaked their sights out of the window. Albion let Joaquin go as he went to collect the bags in his spatial ring. Joaquin walked past To-Wei, Basil, and Ruben without even saying a word to none of them. But they did exchange icy glares with one another. It was then that the Idol Prince realised that he might have thrown himself into something greater than just justice. He did not see them because of being shielded by Beipan but he did feel the air in the bus getting thicker, and colder.

"MASTER!" Ains called in a happy tone, she was seating at the very back of the bus. Joaquin went to her and sat beside her without saying anything, the ride back to the school was a weird one. Ains was the only one talking, she was talking just loud enough for only Joaquin to hear and not disturb the bus. But a few around them still heard her weird stories.

She told common tales that everyone knew, tales about birds as tall as five men on top of each other. Giants that take showers in the oceans, Foxes that could talk with humans, elves that love war and many more. Before Ains knew it, there already many students around them trying to eavesdrop her private storytime.

The ride was long for most and short for few, when the students reached the school the student leaders were separated from the normal students and were sent to rooms of eternal darkness. Joaquin was also taken and when he came to, there was a recognizable and completely undesirable face in front of him.

"Oh dear, oh dear. Ever since I've met you I've been praying that this day didn't come to pass." The bright toothy smile and the red eyes of Vampire Ren greeted Joaquin along with an intoxicating voice.
