Haven wasn't really shocked to see Olivia in her work place. It was expected of Olivia to wait for her friend for a few reasons. One, could be for a morning greeting. Two, could be that Mrs. Morgan had filled in about the guy who left Haven's house in the morning.
Haven slightly smiled at Olivia, "Hey, Oly."
Olivia turned the chair to see Haven, looking as fresh and pleasant anyone could look. There was a hint of glow and blush on her cheeks.
"Wassp?" Olivia blew her nails. It seemed like she had applied nail color just to pass the time until Haven arrived.
"Nothing much. What's up? You are waiting here?"
"Uh.. that. Just here to talk to my friend. As far as I know, this isn't the first time you are seeing me here, waiting for you."
"Of course. Not the first time."
Haven had an evident hesitation and awkwardness that filled the air around her. But Olivia was keen on staying back for some more time, unknowingly.
"So. How was your evening yesterday? Olivia asked, still blowing her nails.
"Um… it.. it was fine,"
"Why are you stammering?" Olivia raised her brows. When Haven didn't reply anything and just moved her eyes around every corner of the office, Olivia was sure that her friend was hiding something from her.
"By looking at you, I can confidently say that you are hiding something from me,"
"What? No. No. Nothing. I'm not hiding anything… from you," Haven was now sweating inside her clothes. It would be evidently visible on her clothes if this interrogation went for some more time.
Olivia stood up from the chair and faced Haven.
"What is it, Haven?" Olivia asked, curiously. It was the first time Haven was hiding something from her and she was being hesitant which only fueled Olivia's curiosity and suspicion. So Olivia's curiosity grew more when her friend was refusing to even look at her in the eyes.
Haven was trying her best to phrase a sentence in her mind to make a comeback, but luck seemed to be not taking her side for some time now.
"Something happened, right?" Olivia asked.
"Oly… I… I will tell…"
Olivia nodded her head.
Haven swallowed the saliva that was struck in her throat. She left a huge sigh before making up the courage to tell her friend everything.
Just when Haven opened her mouth, "Hey, ladies."
Haven and Olivia turned to the owner of the voice, Vincent.
An overly bright Vincent stood in front of them. Haven sighed of relief because she now had an opportunity to escape from Olivia. Not that she didn't want to tell Olivia about the things that she did or what happened. But not this way. She wanted to compose herself before she reveals it to Olivia or Mrs. Morgan.
"Hi, Vincent," Haven greeted, making both Vincent and Olivia raise brows. Never in the 3 years of working at the company did she greet him on her own. She did not even speak to him unless he was bugging her conversations.
Vincent chuckled and waved his hand, "Hi, Haven."
Olivia left out a known scoff, lightly. She was expecting that from Haven. There was definitely something wrong with her friend.
"Hi, there," Olivia greeted Vincent with no soul.
"Have you both planned anything for the weekend?" he asked them.
"No. Not really. Why?"
"Well, the boss was thinking about content team dinner this Saturday."
"What? How can that happen?" Olivia almost screamed.
"Oly, don't scream," Haven softly warned her friend.
Olivia sighed and sat on Haven's chair, "Doesn't that old woman have anything else to do on a weekend?"
"Haha. She's single. What could she possibly have to do?" Vincent said.
"That's her problem. Why would the employees want to go out for dinner with their boss, on a weekend at that,"
"I totally get you. But the boss has already decided."
Olivia was about to speak but was interrupted by someone.
"Hello, everyone. What's going on? What are you all discussing in the middle of working hours? I won't mind unless it is related to work." That was their boss, Ms. Harris.
The lady was old enough to be either of Haven or Olivia's mother. But she was still single and ready to mingle, only non-commitment ones though. She was half British and half American. And she comes from a very well polished family. She was lives alone. No, she is housemates with her cat, Izzie.
"Good Morning, Ms. Harris. Vincent was just informing us about the team dinner on the weekend," Haven spoke in her sweet voice which could soothe anyone's mood.
Ms. Harris laughed and spoke, "AH.. the team dinner. So don't forget guys. I can't wait to have dinner and little chat with you all. It's been a long time since we did this last time. I hope I am not messing up your plans for the weekend."
"Of course not, Ms. Harris. We would love to have dinner and chat with you," replied Vincent.
Olivia kept silent the whole time. Well, it wasn't new to neither of them. She never really got along well with Ms. Harris. The boss still has her in the company and team because of her work efficiency.
"Ok, the, get back to work soon. Don't slack off." Ms. Harris warned and left for her office.
"Ugh… how long does she speak?" Olivia groaned making Vincent and Haven chuckle.
"That was like 2 minutes,"
Vincent shook his head and said bye to them before he walked back to his seat.
Haven turned Olivia who was still sitting in Haven's seat.
"I'll go back to my seat. Bye," Olivia got up to leave.
Haven sighed of relief, sitting on her chair.
"We'll talk later about the guy who left your house this morning," Olivia whispered in Haven's ears before walking away.
Mrs. Morgan had indeed informed Olivia about the strange man that left Haven's house in the morning. Anybody who is close to you will only be suspicious and scared if they see you a strange man leaving your house in the early morning. It was the same for Mrs. Morgan and Olivia. They were just looking out for Haven.
Haven sat in her seat with wide eyes. She didn't know how to respond to that words, so she forcefully ignored Olivia's words and began her day at work. She was a short distance away from Olivia. Her friend could pop up anytime. And they still had a long day to fill.
