Haven knocked on her boss, Ms. Harris' cabin door. She was asked to meet her boss by the assistant.
"Come in," Haven heard from inside. She opened the door inwardly and entered the cabin.
Ms. Harris was a very well organized person. Her work table had no hint of dirt and no personal things except for her mobile phone.
"Please have a seat, Haven," Ms. Harris pointed the chair in front of her desk. Haven nodded and did as she was told.
"Now that you know about the weekend team dinner, where do you think we should go?" Ms. Harris asked.
"Um... Ma'am, can I know the agenda of the dinner?" Haven was careful about her question.
"It's just that I am thinking of hiking the salary for a few editors and some promotions in our team. So, I want to have one last team dinner for the editors who are getting promoted."
"Oh.. That's great to know."
"Don't tell Olivia yet, she's got something to be surprised too. If she gets to know, then she'll be flying over the roof of the office."
Haven and Ms. Harris laughed. They both were aware of Olivia's exceptional reactions to the good news.
"She is getting transferred to the design team I assume."
"Ah... What to do Haven, your friend is always high to join the design team. So I thought I should just let her go now. It's been some time that she is on my team."
Haven nodded in understanding. Almost everybody in the office knew Olivia wanted to transfer to the design team. She is more interested in that. Now, finally, her dream was coming true.
"So now for the team dinner, can you organize it?"
"Um… Yeah, sure. I will."
"Ok then, this Saturday it is."
"Clear."
Haven spent her entire working hours just at her desk or in the restroom and a little bit of chatting with her colleague. She spoke to Vincent for the second time in the day. Something that she didn't do in the past.
As disturbing as it was, she continued to read the story from last week that she was evaluating, where the male protagonist dumps the female protagonist for another woman. She only found out that at the end of the story he did realize his mistake. But nevertheless, he couldn't get the female protagonist back into his life. But the female protagonist found someone who truly loved and valued her.
Haven realized that not every relationship ends with a happy ending. And life isn't bound to one love affair and it moves on after that regardless of anything. And there will be more chances in the future.
As she completed reading the book, Haven thought if she'll ever find love again. And by love, she meant who will truly love her and respect her and her values.
She sighed and pressed the submit button, giving her approval for the book and passing it on for her senior to confirm the book.
Haven leaned back in her seat and closed her eyes. She tried to think about her life. It was smooth since her childhood. She didn't have to worry about anything. Her parents had everything ready for her even before she could ask for it. Her every need was attended and satisfied. This was her first time experiencing a heart break. Sure, she had dated before. One boy in high school and that was very brief. It was more like a crush and puppy love as what people called it. And another guy in college. And that ended on good terms. It simply didn't go well between them and as soon they realized it, with consent from both, they parted ways. So it wasn't really a problem that she had to overcome.
Haven felt someone tap on her shoulder, she opened her eyes and looked at the floor assistant.
"Ma'am, you have a visitor."
She blinked her eyes for a few times before understanding what he said. She didn't have anyone in the city who would want to meet her. No friends and definitely no extended family. If it was her parents, then they would have come home directly.
She nodded her head and got up from her seat. She walked towards the visitors' area.
Olivia watched Haven leaving her seat, with the corner of her eyes. And wondered where her friend was going to and was more than curious to know about it.
Haven noticed a man waiting in the visitors' area. Just by looking at his back, she could tell who was this man.
Lucas Gray. As he said it.
Haven wondered why he was at her work place. He had just left her place this morning after the eventful night they had spent together. Haven couldn't deny it, the sex was great indeed. She hadn't had an orgasm that way before.
She thought about the chance he informed her this morning. Becoming his submissive and learn new things. But she wasn't sure about it.
She shook her head and entered the visitors' area.
She cleared her throat making Lucas turn to her.
He smiled at her. She looked as fresh as any flower could look. She held the same scent from the morning.
"Hey,"
"Hey," Haven was feeling very shy around him, all of sudden.
"I was in the area, so thought I of giving you a visit."
"How did you know where I work?" she asked, raising her brows. She was sure she hadn't told him about her work place.
"You said,"
"Did I?" she pointed her finger towards her.
Lucas nodded his head. Seeing her not remembering it, he spoke, "When we were sitting on your couch and talking about stuff and I pulled you onto me and-"
"Fine," she muttered, gritting her teeth. This was beyond embarrassing to listen to him reciting the time they had spent together.
Lucas laughed at her embarrassment. He didn't miss the blush that was spread wide on her face.
Haven had her head hung low and thought about what to speak next. And Lucas stood there, watching her being all shy around him and his words.
"Is he the guy who left your house this morning?" Haven heard Olivia's voice from behind.
