Chapter 33 - My boy, Seven (3)

Seven stood in the giant Colosseum, on the benches to all sides there looked to be millions of people cramped together. They all cheered, not for him of course.

In front of him stood a noble, the king's nephew. Not cheering for him would be taken as an offence against the king, so everyone did. The noble held a rapier, with a golden handle.

"This is going to be sad,". The spirit he called Looser was around him. No matter how much time they seemed to spend together, the spirit never lost its negative attitude.

In his right hand, he held a bastards sword, it was of high quality. Naturally, it had been provided to him by his slavers, the amour he wore was also of high quality.

Seven looked around the crowd, he wondered if his old master stood in the crowd. He couldn't spot him, but he felt their terrifying stare pierce him. It was enough to weaken him.

Seven had tried to attract a spirit all this time, sometimes strong spirits came close to indulging his request but stopped at the last second.

That was after all the big downside of his skill, he had no control over these things. If a spirit did not want to enter him, he could not force them into him.

"Stats", he matured under his breath.

Over his gruelling training period, his level had skyrocketed. He had put all his points into luck, he had a similar thought process as before. Until he could escape his slave master no other stat mattered.

The large sound of a horn sounded throughout the Colosseum. It instantly quieted down, the fight had begun. Both participants walked up towards each other.

There was no need to rush, sparing ones stamina for the real fight was wiser. Soon they were barely two meters away from each other.

The rapier thrust forward aiming to pierce Seven in the chest. "And you are dead", Loser muttered. With a clash of his sword, the rapier had been blocked.

Loser skills weren't completely inept after all. The noble didn't let up, that thrust was followed by another and another. Seven had quickly been put on the defence.

The fight continued like this, thrust block thrust, the spectators cheered like mad. The noble used a skill, his rapier became two and they both pierced at Seven.

"Better give up" Loser muttered. Seven used a skill from Loser, to deflect the skill which had been thrown towards him. He spun in a whirlwind slashing down at an angle which blocked both attacks.

Only one made a noise, the other one had been an illusion.

The noble had been pushed back by the attack, they began circling each other, waiting for a mistake to exploit. The nobles leg work was a lot fancier than Seven.

"How come I have never heard your name before?"

"Umm, I don't know man"

"Which house do you belong to?"

"Umm, I don't know man"

"Do you belong to a house?"

Seven had been fed up with the chatter and swung a strike at the noble, effortlessly he deflected it and counterattacked. Seven rolled to the side.

"Pathetic", the noble shouted. The crowd erupted into a cheer. The Noble realized the crowd's cheer and began flexing for them. His attacks became more flashy and less practical, he dropped his guard to taunt Seven now and then.

Seven was undisturbed by all of this, his brain completely fixated on not dying. He had gotten pushed around, his sword swung left and right, he'd began breathing heavily. He had one trick up his sleeve.

He aimed his sword towards the noble, and with a skill, he flew forward-thrusting it at him. This was the one rare skill Loser had, and it had saved Seven countless times. His sword pierced through the Noble, he quickly pulled it out and returned his guard.

The crowd gave a heavy "buu" at Seven's foul trick. The noble dropped to his legs, gurgling blood. Seven sword flew up and descended, aiming to behead the noble.

Before the sword reached its mark, he had been frozen by a powerful mage. A powerful current of air then made him fly to the spot he had entered the fight from. He crashed against the wall and slid down landing on his face.

All the wizards overseeing the fight had run forward to the noble healing him, the crowd's attention had completely focused on the well-being of the noble.

The horns were blown once again, silencing the crowd. "Seven has proceeded to the next round". Seven had exited the Colosseum before the outrage had begun at his victory.

On his way out of the tunnel, a hooded man which he had not spotted, grabbed him and pinned him against the wall. "If you win, what will you ask for?", "Ten thousand gold". The figure had disappeared in an instant.

Seven trotted towards his rented room. It was the cheapest sort, the type which he couldn't extend his legs fully without hitting the roof or a wall.

He got into a mediating position and reached for the calming spirit. It came to him quickly, "hello" it started. "Hi" he repeated, and so their conversation began.

It talked to him of the land it had come from, it talked to him of the adventures it had gone on. They seemed endless, and Seven would find himself immersed in the stories. 'Maybe I also want to become an adventurer' he thought to himself.

Soon it was night and he fell asleep quicker than a kitten. He woke up before the sun had risen, "hello", he called out to the spirit to no avail. He exited the building and went on his run, aiming to warm himself up.

He entered the Colosseum, staring at his opponent. He had no armour at all, only a large cheap sword on his back. It was Ferro.
