In another place...
Swishh…. swishhh
Two things, both as fast as an adult cheetah, were running across the forest. The moon was hung high in the sky, a sign that it was already late in the night, yet for these two people… or things? It was their most active time, preferably to do some hunting.
The problem lies in the fact where one of them, who should be an apex predator in this part of forest, stumbled upon something it couldn't face, nor fight this night. This thing, the shadow that ran past all vegetation in front of it, actually had no intelligence, it only relied on it's instinct. Yet, even it's instinct flaring up like crazy at the moment, telling it to run as fast as possible from something chasing behind it.
Sadly for the four-legged shadow, the forest didn't stretch out forever. At some point in it's flee, the thing was finding itself in a clearing of the forest. In front of it was a grassland, no trees and no bush.
More importantly, no cover to hide.
The monster, which now revealed itself to be a wolf, and a very big one at that, turned his head behind. But when it saw the trees moving slightly, it growled in cowardice and continued running, even when there was no hope of covering itself over the grassland. This monster which was called Vile Grey, was a natural predator around this part. It was a surprise in itself to find one alive and hadn't reported to the adventurer guild yet. But this could only mean two things.
First, it had killed all of the humans who coincidentally met it, or stumbled upon it in the middle of the night. Secondly, it hid itself very well at all this time, avoiding human's prying eyes and kept itself away from their business. While the later sounded impossible as a monster shouldn't have any intelligence, but the former was more nonviable because the adventurer guild would instantly dispatch more investigation teams and hunting teams as soon as the report of missing people came.
It's life had been a smooth sail throughout this time. At night where humans became less active and mostly sleeping, it started it's hunt. While at the day, he hid himself in an inconspicuous small cave, too small to accomodate most of the dangerous animal and monster, sleeping, to preserve its own stamina for the night time.
Until some hours ago, a human girl… no no, it knew too much well at how humans smelled like, so she shouldn't be a human it feared very much. She was something else. Something… more dangerous, and more deadly than any creature it had met in its whole life. And it convinced the monster that she was anything but that two-legged intelligent apes who were waving their swords and spears around like coward fools.
And while that kind of thinking was running on its head, its feet didn't stop even for a slight second. It never stopped stomping the grass, stepping on the flower it came across and flattened them. It ran and ran, running without turning its head back, for it's instinct told the monster that it was better to do so. It was better for it to stay focused on what was in front rather than wasting it's stamina and splitting it's focus by looking behind.
At some point in it's running, it started questioning how far the monster had gotten. If being estimated, it was sure it had crossed this accursed forest for a half of it. It surely had crossed other apex predator's territory, yet the forest was too calm to even check it out, and it was too busy in it's fleeing that it had no time to do any other meaningless thing. After what it felt like an eternity, it's legs finally slowed down, starting to grow exhausted by all this running.
Having only one option left, it growled, turned its head behind while his eyes displayed a complex mixing emotion of fleeing or fighting. With it's yellow eyes, there the monster could see the bastard who was tailing it tirelessly like a maniac, a tireless maniac.
In the human world, this kind of tailing is called endurance/persistence hunting.
Right when the beast's eyes landed on it's hunter, a swishing sound came. It wasn't loud nor fancy, yet it startled the beast off as it's vision suddenly turned upside down in a 180 degree. When it looked at a lying body of a canine, headless, a realization struck the monster that it itself was already dead. And it was true, because soon enough, darkness then took over the whole of it's vision.
The hunter, which should be about 20 meters away earlier, was now standing beside the corpse. No one knew when she moved, nor one could answer such a question. What was more surprising was the fact that there was no weapon in her hand, yet it was red, dripping blood like bloody hell. If inspected closely, one would realize that her nails were very long, and sharp. Enough to kill a Vile Grey in one slash of those.
The girl stood beside the prey she had hunted. Her appearance was beautiful, consisting of black glossy hair and lovely lips. Her body was just perfect, everything was curved in the right proportion to make any man ogleeing them with hungry eyes. Inside her eye socket, there were two orbs of slit-pupil eyes. it's colour was red, as if it was tinted with a blood-like paint… no, maybe her eyes were actually painted with an actual blood itself, looking like it could suck one soul right from their body. And yet, one wouldn't be able to help themselves but to gasp and hold their breath at this cold, yet charming beauty. And honestly, her wild appearances only made her more charming than the term 'dangerous.'
But if a random human could see her appearances right now, one would scream on top of one's lungs and run away as fast as one can, if possible, call for help, from adventurers, from paladin, from local authorities, anyone who could hunt this monster down.
Because with just one glance, one could instantly tell she wasn't a human.
She was a vampire, a high vampire.
The girl crouched, and with a mixed expression of disgust and annoyance, she bit on the monster's neck, gulping it's blood like there was no tomorrow. She didn't do this because she wanted to. She did this because her blood bag, the marquis son was still awake this night, She had been holding her thirst for a week. Usually, it was just a simple matter of checking his bedroom, entering his bedroom, then sucked some blood and did a little of healing, before leaving the bedroom. Easy.
But since that strange day since Arnold's second son woke up, something had been holding herself from sucking him dry. It was very familiar feeling, yet distant. A very close tie, yet very thin. She had been holding herself, and as a result, her thirst had already peaked off way too much for her. Too much that she didn't even bother with dirty blood from a monster, and there was no guarantee that Yoro's strange aura wouldn't stop her in the following night.
If Yoro had seen this girl, he would have been surprised. It was because she was none other but his personal maid. Her clothes were the maid one, and her face was his servant one. The only striking difference was her black hair, and blood coloured eyes… maybe her bloody appearances also included.
But all in all, it wouldn't even take him more than a second to recognize her identity.
Because this beauty, this monster, this vampire, or whatever one would call her,
She was his personal maid, Cecilia.
