In the darkness of dawn, Ehren mansion was filled with bone-deep coldness at the moment. The temperature was low, but still, it was the best time for one to train his body if one wishes to be stronger.
For adventurers in this world, it was a common norm to wake up in such an early time. They could either instantly go into the adventurer guild and take some quest, or they could train for some more and increase their proficiency at combat.
For Yoro who was used to waking up around 7 am in the morning in his past life, it was a bit hard for him to adapt. But in the end, he could eventually manage with such a persistent guy stuck together with him.
This annoying person was obviously Chadrac.
Yoro: "so? will you really be able to train me in sword?"
Chad: "Well, at least I need to try before anything, right? Gahaha! "
His big laugh was very loud in the vast yard behind the mansion. Yoro had said it before that the mansion area was very big, and he was now putting it into some uses by doing some training and sparring in this 'devoid of people' area.
Even if Yoro was new in this kind of fantasy world, he instantly knew that one's power was playing a big part here. This was a fantasy world, and he had watched some of them in his past life as a L*rd of The Ring. And one magic element was a very significant factor in it.
Let's take on account of both of his parents. According to Yoro's original memories, they two were a fairly high ranked magician.
This made him come to a conclusion that even a noble like them could not escape such an obligation, and that was exactly what made them special in peasant eyes. It was easy to guess that they surely needed that kind of power to support up their position as a high noble. Or else the other competitor would throw them off from their current position as a marquess.
With this thought in mind, Yoro was determined to live a better life in this world, in this second chance that was directly given by heaven to him.
That's why for now, his goal was set to become stronger!
Chad: "Here, the weight should be suitable for children like you."
Saying that, Chad then threw him a short sword. Looking at its size, Yoro knew that it was not a sword in the first place. But something more like a dagger, but with a slightly longer blade.
Yoro then swung it a couple times, and it was not long before he shook his head in disappointment. Pointing at the sword in his hand, he then said.
"it was too light and short. I want a heavier one with a longer blade."
Chad looked a little taken aback hearing his response. For a kid like Yoro, who had not even reached his 15 years old yet, this one should be more than enough for him. Moreover, Chad knew that his young master was having a slightly weaker body constitution than average kids. It made him a bit worried as to if he was putting some kind of facade of a tough front or not.
But in fact, Yoro was not bluffing when he said the sword was too light. He still vividly remembered the weight of the black sword in his dream, how far it's range could reach, how to make a counter-attack with it, and how he should be using it in a battle.
He could feel it running in his muscle, the familiar feeling of holding a sword, and an unfamiliar feeling of wielding a different one. Yet, Chad grunted as he heard Yoro's comment. His face looked unimpressed. Frowning, he gestured towards the sword in Yoro's hand with his chin. "Then… should I go to the barrack and bring you a whole set of weapons for you to choose?"
Yoro could feel annoyance dripping out of his voice, so he hurriedly waved his hand in denial, frantically trying to prevent Chad from losing his temper. "no no, I think it's okay for today. You can do it tomorrow when we practice again."
Chad frown got deeper. Not because he was annoyed, but because he had an uncertain feeling about this. Yoro was a noble, son of a Marquis. And his father was the head of Ehren household himself, the person who was publicly known as the best mage in the kingdom. Chad was thinking that it would be much better for Yoro to focus solely on his magic lesson rather than learning swordsmanship. And who knows? maybe he could be as great as his father, or even became a better mage in the future..
'haaa… Arnold spoiled his son tad a way too much.' He sighed upon seeing Yoro's confused face. 'I just hope that he will stop in time before it is too late. Before his talent wasted on the wrong interest that wouldn't benefit him in the long run.' thought Chad with a bitter smile.
Arnold had said before that Yoro was a fragile child. Therefore Ehren households would never place him under some big responsibilities, nor appointed him to be one of the Ehren successor candidates. In fact, Chad heard it directly from Arnold himself that he was more prefered for his son's happiness rather than anything right now.
But Chad didn't think that was a right thing for him.
"well alright, Chad. Let's get started" Yoro's words brought Chad back to his senses. Yet he was gawked once again upon the spectacle in front of him.
Yoro got into a stance, and not just a normal stance, he got into a perfect one without any opening at all. 'Is he learnt it from the book yesterday?' He thought while also got into a stance himself. 'But one stance wouldn't be perfect with just reading alone…'
If you wanted an opening-less stance, one would need a teacher or mentor to correct where you put less power and put too much power, and where one should relax or place his legs an inch too far. The strange part was the fact that Yoro never got any sword teacher before, and Chad was already working for Arnold even before Yoro was born.
Chad: "alright, you can start." He said after shaking any disturbing thought off his head.
Yoro's eyes gleamed with a mysterious light in them, a very subtle change in this dim environment. Instantly, Yoro's legs pushed the ground hard, and with his light body, he reached where Chad stood within a mere seconds. In a flash, his sword attacked Chad's chest with a vicious manner, aiming for his weak point without hesitation even in the slightest bit.
Chad was impressed when he saw Yoro's speed. But in Chad's eyes, it was not fast enough to make him unable to respond. Chad blocked it easily as his face turned into sneer.
Chad: "just this much? you don't even make me take a step back!" He mocked Yoro while disregarding the fact that his opponent was just an 11 years old brat and he was an advanced-rank swordsman
But to his surprise, Yoro came up with another attack right at the next moment, brutally aiming where his neck was located.
Chad's obviously blocked his strike, but his lips were twitching when he was faced with another and another attack from him. Initially, Chad intended to only block Yoro's attack, wanting to exhaust himself until he was tired from all the failed attacks.
Because as a swordsman and close-quarter combatant, he already honed the most essential skill that needed to raise your skill into another level, and mastered it enough to step into his current rank as an advanced-rank swordsman.
And that skill called precognition.
The longer you battle and the more experience you had, the more developed your muscle memory would be. And in the end, he could immediately respond and counter if one made any kind of movement from looking at his body alone.
This was just showing how skilled he was in a close-quarter battle.
Chad: 'but this brat…'
This brat was unexpectedly attacking with the intention to kill him!
Moreover, his way of handling the sword was superb. It was a surprise to know that this was actually his first time in dealing with such a weapon!
How did he do that!?
The only thing that lacked from Yoro was his unpolished style and the lack of strength behind his strike. But other than that, his attack already very goo- no, his attack was very amazing considering this was his first time in using sword
When he mused these thoughts in his head, Yoro launched another attack towards him. Chad raised his sword in the last second to block it as before. But then the unexpected happened!
In Chad's eyes, Yoro's body muscle suddenly relaxed before it contracted again as he delivered the attack. Which means-
Chad: 'It's a feint!'
The sword's trajectories suddenly changed as it was about to touch Chad's blade, and it turned at Chad's vital point. Taken by surprise, Chad unintentionally counter the attack on his own, delivering an attack that pushed the attacking sword back.
Chad was a robust man that was filled with muscle, and his strength as an advanced-rank swordsman was by no means small. Right when he did that, Yoro wasn't getting pushed back, but outright flung backwards some meters away in a beautiful arc.
Both of them were taken by surprise, and both only came out from their stupor when a cracking sound from Yoro's fall was made. It should be said that forcefully flung and dropped to the hard ground was quite a painful experience.
Chad: "s-sorry, young master! Are you okay?"
Chad hurriedly approached and helped him over. Luckily, it was only some small bruise and not broken spines or some sort. Yet, Chad said it was enough for today. He said that they would continue again tomorrow much to Yoro's dismay. But seeing things going, it might be more of a reason for Chad's excusing himself rather than Yoro's injuries.
Well, perhaps it was quite irrelevant compared to the thing that appeared in his vision.
