*BAM*
His bedroom door then slammed close by that perverted girl. Well damn, what kind of servant entered his master bedroom without knocking?
Yoro: 'haven't she been taught to have some manner? what a stupid encounter.' Yoro thought while did not wanting to admit that it was also his own fault too for not locking the door
Yoro: "How shameful" He murmured while quickly pulling his pants back up. But even so, his face was still red from embarrassment after he was being seen in such condition.
He still had some dignity after all.
After he finished examining his body, he realized he was alone in this room. So he took a freedom to look around the room he was in….before he realized how fancy the room was. The wall was white clean with golden linings like a newly made room. The bed is big... way too big for people of his age. No, it's even bigger than what people had in the modern world of the 21st century….it was unexpectedly soft too.
On the left side of the room, a window to the outside can be seen. He took a glimpse of the outside place and what greeted him thre was a colourful scenery. It was a very vast green yard adorned with flowers in many variants here and there plus the addition of a fountain in the centre of it. Whoever designed this scenery, he/she surely put a lot of thought and effort to make it be like this.
Back to the room, there were shelves on the right side of him, filled with books regardless of it being an old or new one, written in unfamiliar and yet, familiar words at the same time. Walking towards it, he then took one of the books randomly and opened it.
*Knock knock*
???: "Excuse me young master, have you done?" Came a muffled sound from behind the door. And without taking off his eyes from the book, he said:
Yoro: "You can enter now" As he had expected, from behind the door, appeared a girl from before. Her age is around 14, with brown hair that fell to her hips and round lovely eyes. Her posture is firm and elegant at the same time. Her lips are red as a cherry and baby fat still could be seen from her cheeks. Overall, Yoro could put her in 'above average' category girl, and it could already be predicted that she would be a fine lady in the future.
Yoro: "What do you want from me, Cecilia?"
When he took a glimpse of her face, which was still red from shame, all the memory about her resurfaced back into his mind. His eyes then placed back to the book he was reading, while his hands started flipping the pages of the book and his ears were listening.
Her name is Cecilia, and she was assigned to be his personal servant roughly 18 months ago. He didn't know the details of her origin and never bothered to even ask. Yoro's original seemed to be a quiet boy type. And he only accepted her as his personal maid over the fact that he couldn't do every single thing by himself.
Cecilia regained her composure back and was about to open her mouth and begin explaining her reason to come here….. just to see her young master throwing the book in his hand to the wall with a crumpled face.
Silence reigned the room for a good while, and both of them had the same condition of shock, but due to different reasons.
Yoro: "I-I am sorry, please continue," he said with a bitter expression as he picked the book back from the floor to put it back on the shelf where it belonged.
Cecilia: "You sure you okay, young master?" Cecilia said with concern.
But Yoro just nodded his head as an answer, leaving her no choice but to accept it. Then like a cue, she started explaining why she was here, while Yoro was hearing her explanation attentively.
* * *
Yoro: "A dinner?" he inquired with a confused expression.
Cecilia nodded as a response and started detailing the event, which would be held later in this mansion. "Yes, Lord Ehren will be arrived tonight from the regular meeting of the eastern territory"
Yoro: "my father...huh..." he murmured the new name under his breath. An image of a man from the sea of memories came to his mind. The middle-aged man who was supposed to be his father in this world.
Yoro: "Wait, what time is it now?" Now Yoro found it strange for her to tell him this just after waking up, so he looked outside and realized the sun was already quite high in the sky.
Cecilia: "It's just about five minutes after the 9th bell rang"
Yoro: 'what? How about my breakfast?' he thought with furrowed eyebrows
Cecilia: "Sorry for not waking you up beforehand, but I know that young master has…. slightly some issues. So the head maid already notify me in advance to not wake you up if young master not wake up before the 9th bell,"
Yoro: 'issue?....ah….'
While thinking those, another piece of memories about the original occupant of this body came to his mind
The previous owner, or Yoro could say the Yoro's original, was actually a boy with an abnormally weak body.
But rather than a weak body, the accurate term should be a weak soul in a strong body.
Yoro recalled when he was nine years old, the moment when his mana pool matured. At that time, he underwent a test of mana aptitude led by his father, a normal custom in this world to test wheter their offspring had the talent to take the path of mage or fighter… or maybe neither. For a normal person, this kind of thing would require them to pay a sum of money they reserved for years to the church. But Yoro was a noble, and this thing would cost even less than his monthly allowance.
And when it was done, the results were actually amazing. His father labelled him as a genius in magic even more than his talented first brother, and he had a bright future ahead of him as a mage.
But before the news could even go out, it took them less than soon to realize there was something wrong with him. His soul, or more precisely the mental consciousness that played a pivotal point in controlling the mana, was actually very weak and unstable.
The consequences was that he couldn't control that big amount of mana residing in his body, not even in the slightest, and he could only let his mana grow even bigger and bigger as the time passed, bringing more harm than benefit to himself.
It was predicted that his lifespan would be greatly reduced, and he couldn't possibly live more than 20 years more.
That was the turning point of his happy and colourfull life. Slowly, the gazes of reverence turned into pity. The noble who would definitely get a nice and comfy life even without mana then labelled as pitifuly short-spanned and useless noble. Fortunately, the fact of his so-called monstrous talent was buried deep down as a secret to prevent things steered into worse kinds of situations.
Not only that, his father and mother started to spoil him much after that point of time, and also encouraged him to chase after happiness more than his responsibility as a noble. His brother, one of the handful people who knew about his secret talent, was also willing to take the burden of being the next head of the family and discard his dream to become a great mage and wander in the world.
Yoro realized that this time…..he actually had a very good and loving family who were willing to take care of him around
And so it was the original version of his biggest wish, to not make trouble around for his family and make them happy with as much effort as he could.
Sadly for him, it only could last as long as couple of hours ago
Sooner than any of his family and acquaintances initially expected, he was dead this morning, at his current age of 11 years old. It is also the reason why he didn't wake up to take breakfast when he usually could wake up by himself.
It was also the time when Yoro from earth took over his body and turned to his own, which now he could see and use to move around like it was his in the first place.
Remembering this, Yoro bore a grateful feeling and also a pity to the original him that wasn't by all means small.
It was because he knew he lived as a burden for his family, but couldn't do anything to change that cruel fact. While he was passively avoiding his parents and brother throughout these years, the family he couldn't face the most was his brother.
Yoro: 'So please don't worry. For I promise…. no, I vow that I will give the family you adore so much the happiness you desperately want to give..' When he did this, he could finally feel that some weight that was straining his heart, the lingering feeling of the former Yoro, finaly gone.
Yoro: "rest in peace, me" Murmured Yoro to himself.
Cecilia: "Hmm? You said something young master?" Cecilia's question brought him back to his senses.
Yoro: "Ah no, I am just talking to myself" he denied it with a straight face.
After thinking for himself for quite a while, he then realized that Cecilia was still standing there, waiting patiently for his further order.
Yoro: "I will get prepared. Cecilia, could you heat up my breakfast while I am at it? You can notify me when it is ready."
But contrary to what he expected, Cecilia didn't immediately go off and stood still in her place in her place instead. Her expression was decorated with a mixture of surprise and confusion for a moment. Yoro realized this so he asked her what's wrong
Cecilia: "n-no, it's just somehow….your highness talking more than usual." She said before she hurriedly denied it herself when she saw Yoro gave an odd expression as a response.
Cecilia: "i-its must be my imagination. Please excuse me, your highness." she said as she bowed her head and left.
Yoro, who was being left alone in the room, furrowed his eyebrows in thought due to her words just now. Previously, he thought he could move freely, that he considered himself as a bookworm who was mostly inconspicuous to others.
Yoro: "But it seems I have to be careful when she is around…."
But what he didn't know was when all those monologues were happening, Someone was leaning behind the door to his bedroom overhearing what he said.
Still with an odd expression on her face, she finally moved from there and went to prepare some breakfast like she had ordered to.
