Chapter 4 - Village

The "clinic" I guess if you could call a renovated stone house a "clinic" was positioned in a town square next to the bakery it was furnished with well made but simple chairs that decorated the waiting room and a pinewood door that led to what Leo figured to be the treatment area or something like it, the waiting room also had a pair of small bookcases that hosted medical novels and various journals but being unable to move on his own or let alone read this was all guesswork.

I really have some luck I can't believe my second chance to see the magic involves me breaking my arm now even if I can memorize any hand movements then I won't be able to exercise them, so much for being an adult in a baby's body if anything I brought more of my bad luck with me then my wits. Now mom won't ever let me be free.

At first the pain from his broken arm overwhelmed Leo's young body but his mind knew pain like that well, give or take an hour or two of panicked crying from him and his parents and they arrived at the clinic with the exception of Keith who waited behind to welcome Zaida from school.

The village clinic was filled with all types from a group of rogues limping in from a recent bar fight to a pregnant woman who looked ready to burst regardless of all the demand the crowd diminished so it was only a few hours before Leo got brought into the workplace of the clinic by a nurse and waved into a small room with a single cot and three chairs, it was strikingly similar to what he would find on earth in the early 20th century.

Lilla herself greeted the pair with a serious expression. *"not six months Jean and I'm already seeing you and the runt again, what the hell happened to him"* Jean withered under Lilla's assault *"Keith fell asleep and dropped him I don't know what happened exactly I just jumped up when I heard him crying out"* as Jean explained Leo's predicament the temperature dropped at least five degrees. *"Jean love when I see that man of yours I am going to break both his stupid legs, dropping a his own child the fool now give me the beast so I can help him"*.

Strange child why do you not cry, you must be a tough guy then Lilla gently picked Leo out of Jeans arms and she realized that the child was not only toughing out a broken arm but the intensity of his expression sent a cold chill down her spine, simply unnatural for an infant.

Leo recognized the healer right away and was waiting for the mock lesson he could receive from her, I don't care broken arm or not I need a head start I can't wait until in older I could lose my edge if that happens I really don't have much to work with.

Lilla began began the diagnostic spell to examine Leo's arm it was broken in two spots but the break was clean enough that a basic restoration spell would be enough, she then expanded the spell into the rest of his body to look for anything that could be detrimental for his health and found that he also suffered from a concussion that if left unchecked could lead to future problems especially with his age.

*"Jean your lucky, had he hit the ground any harder you would be talking to the undertaker by now I suggest keeping the shutters closed for a week from now to cover any side effects he could have, I'm good but the brain is a complex organ and he wont likely be himself if he does experience anything"*

Lilla then made a quick hand sign and Leo was felt himself going into a euphoric state. I wonder why I'm not getting tired this time different spell maybe? Leo thought about the magic he had was being subjected to and the only feeling he could pin down was that it was as if a river was flowing through him and when she used the spell it seemed to pool up for a while before she released it, I'll meditate on this tonight and see if in onto something.

The spell observed from Jeans perspective was more in awe, she never had the talent for magic and her family was always too poor for her to learn anything more from the foundation spell given to children at the age of 6, marrying Keith gave her access to the town library so she was able to pull off something similar to a magical band aid in the healer specialization.

Jean watched as Leo's body emitted a warm glow from the skin and the swelling reduced in his broken arm, the skin looked as if it was filled with snakes. Leo's arm began to reform in perfect shape aside from a small bend in his inner arm, Lilla gave him a tap to the trouble spot and a dull sticking POP! sounded from the limb *"what happened will it be ok Lilla"* Jean looked at her friend for comfort, *"yes ,yes your child is just very strange he healed very quickly for an infant he must be strong"* Lilla then looked Jean in the eyes with a cold face *"I'll need to keep an eye on him he's an interesting case already"*.
