It was dark outside as the rain poured viciously. Even though it was well past working hours, a single office at the top of the sky scrapper building was lit. The melody of the rain drowned out the typical typing sound that always accompanied the office.
It was a modern styled office with hints of metal and wood work here and there giving it a very masculine vibe. Overseeing the city since it was the last floor in the whole office building.
Behind the desk comfortably sitting on his leather chair was Aiden Villan, typing on his computer. He had dark bags under his light hazel eyes that had long lost any sign of joy or happiness. He brushed his hand through his dark brown hair as he sighed for what seemed to be the thousand time that day. Leaning back into the chair while closing his eyes he rested for a few seconds before the red light on a small box on top of his desk indicated him that somebody was waiting at the door to be let in.
"Of course. Why would I even think that I could close my eyes for a couple seconds of peace." He muttered to himself as he pressed the button under his desk telling the person outside that he could enter.
In came his right hand man Jacob. With long strides his personal assistant walked towards Aiden's desk with a cup of coffee in one hand and his tablet in the other.
Jacob was 6'0" tall and had a lean body. His eyes were a shade of brown that matched with his also brown hair. His face had a few freckles here and there that made him seem much younger then he actually was. The fact was that he and his boss where both 30 years old, yet between the too he seemed to look like the junior. Not to mention that Aiden was taller by two inches and was much more toned. Making their age seem even further apart.
"I believe you should see this Boss." Jacob said as he placed the coffee on the desk. He then proceeded to turn on the tv hanging on the wall to their side. After tapping onto his tablet's screen, multiple images came up on the flat screen.
"What we're looking at is the downfall of George Flinn Maverick the now ex-chairman of Flinn Corporation." While the images continued to change on the screen, Jacob shivered with the rooms sudden drop in temperature. Looking at his boss, he noticed that his face had darkened. His lifeless eyes were now filled with rage.
"Who's responsible for this?" Aiden asked as he stood up to stand closer to the screen and analyze all that he was seeing. He couldn't believe the amount.
"Claire Collins sir." His assistant answered.
"Flinn Corporation's CEO?" Aiden's eyes widened as the name surprised him.
"Yes sir. According to our resources she not only provided the police department with all the evidence that we're seeing, but she also publicly dethroned him from the position during a board meeting right before she had him arrested. But apparently he escaped while being transported." Jacob explained as images of the escape aftermath showed up on the screen.
"Apparently? Did he escape or not?" Aiden asked as he saw the blood of police officers corpses staining the street.
"Well sir, at first glance it seemed like he had orchestrated his own escape. But after further investigation, our team discovered that it wasn't his own doing. We have reason to believe it was the Phoenix Clan that either helped him or kidnapped him. The reason is still unknown." Jacob then searched through the contents of the images being displayed and selected the ones that showed George shaking hands with the Phoenix Clan's leader amongst other pictures. "All of what you are seeing was actually given to the media by Flinn Corporation's own rep team sir."
"You're meaning to tell me that the team that you personally assembled wasn't able to find enough evidence in the time frame I had ordered, but the newly-appointed CEO of the most unproblematic company in the country who managed to outshine my highly-skilled and trained spies, did so just to put her own chairman behind bars?" Aiden husky voice was laced with disbelief.
"It seems so sir. I apologize for my incompetence."He bowed his head slightly. Although Jacob couldn't see his boss's face, he could feel the dominant and spine-chilling sensation that his voice emanated.
"Cut the crap. If anybody is incompetent it's my team of dogs whose noses apparently need to be retrained after being unable to sniff that rat out." As he turned around and walked back to his desk he slapped the back of Jacob's head. "Quit it with the bowing already it's creeping me out."
"But sir, you had specifically told me to have this matter settled in private. Now the news of his collaborations with the underworld are more than publicized! It's the trending rage!" He said as he pouted like a little kid.
Jacob was never one to show his emotions easily. That is unless he was with his life long friend Aiden. Even though he had a reputation of being as cold and aloof as his boss all throughout the business world, his true personality always seeped through when it was just the two of them.
"What's done is done. I'm not gonna lose any sleep over a piece of shit like George and neither should you. Don't get me wrong. I am pissed that his torture is gonna be delayed, but all this just made me realize how much my private team needs to step up it's game."
"But sir-"
"I don't like repeating myself Jacob." He didn't let him finish since he knew he would only whine about being useless or some other nonsense that would irritate him. "Now suck it up and go to the base to kick those idiots asses. I'm not having anybody one up me again. Have a report on the Phoenix Clan, Flinn Corporation and Claire Collins on my desk by tomorrow morning. Consider it your punishment." As he said that he began to walk towards the door with Jacob right behind him.
"Yes sir. I'll make sure they're black and blue by sunrise and have that on your desk first thing in the morning." Jacob smiled as he went inside the private elevator. He was happy he would get to spar with some of his boss's personally trained men. He had been stressed lately due to all the extra hours he had to work and finally the perfect outlet to destress had appeared.
"A sadist as always huh? Stay away from me. I don't wanna catch those weirdo germs of yours." Aiden said to his secretary as he walked to his all black Lamborghini Veneno Roadster once the elevator door opened on the sub level garage floor. He opened the door to slide into the drivers seat and a couple of seconds later, he was speeding off.
"Hey thats not true! I'm not a sadist!" Jacob was left without the chance to properly defend himself as his boss was quick to leave him behind. He pouted while he got into his own car and started to drive towards the base and do as Aiden had instructed.
