Chapter 2 - Attending His Own Funeral

Claire sat in her leather chair as Anna quickly pressed onto the tablet screen in her hands. A few seconds later the lights of the conference room where dimmed and the proyector screen behind George lit up presenting a large number of documents and pictures.

All the attention was on the screen when again Claire's voice cut through the silence.

"As you all can see, the documents being displayed behind Mr. George are evidence of the illegal transactions he has successfully accomplished throughout the mear year he has been occupying his current position. My secretary has already emailed you all the copies made of the documents, pictures and videos of his unlawful dealings. From using the company's money in prostitution rings and the selling of company secrets, to his investments with drug lords and many other of his sinful endeavors." Claire spoke nonchalantly as she played with her hair.

The room was filled with men that looked more like mannequins than they did men. All of their concentration was on the screen that showed image after image of their chairman placing money in strip dancer thongs, shaking hands with well known and feared drug lords among other things. His signature and face was on everything presented. There was no denying the evidence shown.

Suddenly the lights where brightened again and the only voice that had been heard for the last fifteen minutes spoke again.

"Now then gentlemen, as you can see we have much to do in order to catch up with all the time and money wasted in by our chairman's hands this past year. I have already taken action in regards to those inside the company that knowingly and willingly played roles in Mr. George's unexcusable dealings as well as informed the police of his ventures with the underworld. Now the only thing to do is select a new chairman." Her indifference made it clear to the men in the room that she was a force not to be reckoned with.

The gentle smile she had as she broke the news to the board of directors was as if she was commenting about the nice weather. In the past thirty minutes nobody could have suspected that the CEO would not only slap the chairman twice, but also provide enough evidence to cause his immediate resignment and expulsion out of the company. All while playing with her hair as if nothing.

George was at a loss for words. He didn't have time to process what was happening. He had been emailed to come to the company for an urgent meeting with the board of directors but had never suspected that in actuality it was an invitation to attend what it appeared to be his own funeral!

"You think this little presentation of yours will work!?" He yelled as soon as he gained a bit of his composure. His eyes held such fury that it could without a doubt make anybody tremble. But the person responsible for such anger wasn't just anybody.

'You can still fix this. Remain calm. You can talk your way out of it like you always do.' He reassured himself as he started walking towards the woman that had the nerve to publicize his secrets in order to intimidate her from a closer distance. 'She's just a stupid woman that got too confident after father died. Just scare her like always.'

"You obviously don't know who you're messing with you piece of shit!! How dare you spew these lies!! Apparently I haven't shown you what I'm capable of you low life whore!!" George ranted as he closed the distance between them.

Just as he reached out to grab her wrist in order to drag her out of the chair, another strong hand grasped his own wrist. Within a matter of seconds he was face down on the floor with his arm twisted onto his back and a knee pressing down on his shoulders.

'What the fuck just happened!?' He shouted in his inner thoughts as he struggled to move.

"Mr. Chairman I suggest you do not approach the CEO in such a menacing manner again. Her security detail is quite meticulous when it comes to those they allow to be around her. Now please remain silent as the meeting is still in session." Anna instructed him as she stood next to her boss.

Yet again the rest of the board members where nervously watching in silence as the mysterious man that had appeared from nowhere restrained their chairman on the floor. Nobody saw where he had come from. He was so quick in his movements that not a single person would have doubted if they were told that he materialized out of thin air.

The mysterious man was dressed in black from head to toe and the only thing you could see where his dark green menacing eyes since the rest of his face was covered.

George was about to retaliate when he suddenly felt a small blade being discreetly pressed against his neck. "I suggest you follow the young lady's orders. My patience has been a little thin lately and I'm just aching to wash my hands with some fresh blood." The man pressing against his back whispered low enough to be heard by only them causing chills to run throughout George's whole body. The bloodlust he felt was too real to even attempt calling it a bluff. He immediately stilled on the floor.

Just then a message popped up on Anna's tablet. Once she saw what it was about she quickly turned to her boss and showed her the contents of it.

"Gentlemen." Claire said as she looked at the rest of the men that had been sitting in silence since the beginning of the meeting. "It seems that I'm needed elsewhere to deal with an urgent matter. I suggest we skip the protocol and immediately choose a successor for the position. We have already wasted too much time dealing with this pathetic situation as it is. I nominate Erick Thompson for the chairman's position."

All eyes fell on the man that sat in the middle of one of the sides of the oval table. He was in his late fifties with salt and pepper hair and noticeable age markings on his face. He was the typical grandfather figure that everybody respected and trusted. He had worked in the company as the Vice President up until his forced retirement a year ago due to George deeming him to no longer be useful. He had been invited to the meeting as an honorable guest. His face was one of surprised and confused as to what was happening.

It was a wise choice indeed to nominate him. Erick was without a doubt one of the most knowledgeable and respected men within the business world. One by one all of the members present regained their composure and agreed with the nomination. As no one objected, it was decided that Eric Thompson was elected to be the new chairman for Flinn Corporation.
