Chapter 12 - I spy a sexy...

"Let's go to the beach!" Bob cheerfully said.

"Uhm, don't you want to check in to our hotel first? And maybe get rid of this damn jet lag?" Sarah asked.

"A hotel?"

"Yeah, you know. The place where people stay on vacation?"

"Oh shit."

"Oh please don't tell me you didn't forget to book a hotel room for us!" Sarah exclaimed.

Keagan looked at Bob expectantly. "I bet he did. He has a memory span of a goldfish."

"Prftttt, what? Of course I booked a hotel room. I'm not some forgetful person who just booked flight tickets and completely forgot about shelter. Like c'mon, what do you guys think I am?"

"A forgetful person. With a cherry of hypocrisy on top," Keagan snorted.

"Okay, okay. Stop rubbing it in me. How about we go to the beach first? That should give me enough time to book a hotel room," Bob suggested.

"Oh, you'd better book one. Or else, I will skin you alive and then use your skin as my blanket tonight," Fred muttered.

Bob grinned as he held out his hand.

"Taxi!"

...

"Woah, there are so many people here!"

The gang is currently standing at the entrance of Kahanamoku Beach.

A golden blanket outlines the silvery sea, creating the picture perfect image. The golden medallion of a sun was perched high in the sky, blazing like Titan's fiery wheel. The sun beat down on the calm ocean as a gust of wind forced itself past them.

"What are you guys waiting for? Let's go and have some fun!" Fred cheered as he removed his shirt and ran towards the ocean.

Keagan remained rooted at his spot. His eyes were trailing a young man. The man's face tells of a lean body beneath his wintry garb and his expression is serious but not unkind. He has that salt 'n' pepper look to his hair, against his still youthful skin.

"Keagan, why are you checking that dude out? I thought you didn't swing that way," Sarah whispered into Keagan's ear.

"Of course, I don't. I just find him mesmerizing and-," Keagan smirked.

"And?"

"Sexy."

Keagan patted Sarah's shoulder. "You go find us an empty spot. I'm about to approach him."

"Hey, wait! What do you mean-" Sarah called out when Bob shrieked.

"I managed to book four rooms!"

...

"Hey."

The man turned around, confusion written all over his face. "Uhm, hi?"

"The name's Evan. I feel like we've met before," Keagan smiled sweetly.

"Uh, I think you've mistaken. I don't know a person called Evan."

Keagan smugged. "I saw you yesterday."

"Strange. I don't remember stepping out of my house yesterday."

"Oh, don't lie. I saw you on a date with a girl who's hella hot."

"A girl? Me?" the man scoffed.

"Yes."

"Dude, I'm gay. Why the heck will I go on a date with a girl?"

"Oh, my bad. My eyes are playing tricks on me lately."

"O-okay?"

Keagan rushed forward to hug the man.

"What the fvck are you doing?" the man furiously asked as he pushed Keagan away.

"Every time I fight with my siblings, my mom would ask us to hug it out. So, I randomly did it."

"Just stay far away from me, weirdo!" the man barked in anger.

"Oh, okay. I'll just leave," Keagan said as he turned around and walked away.

Keagan took out his mobile phone and dialed Sarah's number.

"Hello?"

"Keagan! Where are you?"

"I should be asking you that. Did you find a spot?"

"Yeah, under a coconut tree."

"You know, there's at least ten coconut trees here. Which one is it? Billy? Martin? Joel? Heck, do these trees even have names?"

"Maybe some lunatic actually named them. Anyway, just look for a woman under a red polka dot umbrella. We're next to her."

"Gotcha."

Keagan huffed and began his search for the woman under a red polka dot umbrella.

"Does your umbrella have polka dots?" Keagan asked.

"Uhh, no?"

"Darn"

Keagan asked a few more women and unfortunately, no one had a polka dot umbrella.

"You know, it would save you time if you used your eyes to actually look whether the umbrella has polka dots," the last woman he asked suggested.

"Oh, silly me!" Keagan scoffed.

He looked and looked and looked.

Just as he was about to give up, something caught his eyes.

A red polka dot umbrella!

He ran towards the umbrella like a child running after an ice cream truck.

"UMBRELLA WITH RED POLKA DOTS! HOW I YEARNED FOR YOU!" Keagan yelled.

"What do you mean?" a manly voice said behind the umbrella.

"Wait a minute, y-you're not a woman? How can this possibly be? Why aren't you a woman? Whyyyyy?" Keagan wailed in despair.

"What's wrong with being a man?" the manly voice asked again.

"Everything. Everything is wrong! How could you be a man? I was so excited and then, you turned out to be a man? My heart can't take this!"

"Sorry for making your heart break but I suggest you leave me alone," the man deadpanned.

"Ughhh, I've gotta go back to searching again!"

Keagan stomped his feet.

"Why can't Sarah choose a better spot? Why must it be specifically next to the woman under a red polka dot umbrella? Why couldn't she choose the spot next to a purple umbrella or a blue one? There were plenty of them! Why is she so picky? Oh, hey Bob! Seriously-" Keagan stopped at his tracks.

"Bob??"

Bob was flirting with a blonde woman. "Oh, hey Keagan!"

"Holy cheese rings. It's really you! Oh my savior, please take this homeless man with you!" Keagan said as he did a kowtow.

"Woah, woah. Keagan you're acting weird. C'mon, let's go meet Sarah," Bob stopped Keagan. He winked at the blonde woman and mouthed 'call me'.

Bob pulled Keagan and started walking to the opposite direction.

"So, you're lost?"

"On normal occasions, I would tear that smug look off your pretty face. But since you've saved my life, I will let this slide."

"I never thought the almighty Keagan would bow down at my feet. I feel accomplished. If I die today, I have no regrets."

"I blame my lack of sense of direction. And one more time you flash that smirk at me, I will fulfill your wish of dying."
