"Took you guys long enough!" Sarah groaned.
"I had to save a damsel in distress. The damsel was wandering around like a confused duckling!"
Keagan clenched his fists. "Duckling? Who gave you the permission to belittle my dignity?"
"Tch, you self-centered dumbo. Who said I was talking about you?" Bob muttered as he walked away.
"I have never been so offended in my life," Keagan feigned annoyance.
"What were you doing to the guy you were eyeing?"
"I just greeted him. Nothing much," Keagan shrugged.
"I thought you said you aren't gay. Why did you blatantly call that dude sexy?"
Keagan looked at Sarah confusingly. "Who said anything about the guy being sexy?"
"Who else were you referring to?" Sarah asked as she drew a pattern on the sand using her fingers.
"It's not about him. I was talking about how sexy his wallet is," Keagan replied as he pulled out a leather wallet from his pocket.
Sarah looked at the wallet with her eyes bulged.
Did Keagan, pickpocket? In broad daylight?
"What the hell were you thinking? You could have been caught!" Sarah whisper-yelled.
"But, I didn't. And that's all it matters. His wallet is very classy and it's also the wallet I wanted but never got."
"So, you thought that stealing it is a good idea?"
"Of course. I have plenty of experience in stealing."
"What if he realizes that his wallet is gone? He saw your face so I think it shouldn't be a problem for him to track you. Right?" Sarah asked worriedly.
"I told him my fake name. Plus, he's gonna have a hard time cracking through the security wall Bob made for me online."
"Security wall?"
"Yeah, I think that's what it's called. I'm no IT guy so it may be incorrect."
Sarah scoffed. "Just because you have the so-called security wall, it doesn't mean you can just steal things like that! Who do you think you are?"
Keagan stuffed the wallet back into his pocket before staring coldly at Sarah.
"I think you know very well that me stealing people's items isn't exactly unusual. Look, Sarah. I'm letting this slide only because you joined us about 3 days ago. If I ever hear you saying things like that again, I will instruct Fred to tie you up and leave you to rot in our basement. Understand?"
Sarah bit her lips and nodded her head slightly. "Understood."
Keagan grunted in response and looked up to the sky. The sun shone brightly with silver clouds hanging by its sides,
"It's such a beautiful day to be at the beach." Keagan reached his hands up to the sky.
...
"Oof, finally! I get to rest!" Keagan murmured as he jumped onto his bed.
The four of them decided to retire to their hotel early before eating dinner.
Keagan stretched his arms before digging into his pocket. He took out the wallet he stole and started examining it. The exterior design had a familiar tinge of gold and was old-fashioned. Unlike all the newest designs of wallets, this particular one was flimsy and ponderous. It was a wallet which no one would want in this materialistic modern world. And on that wallet, there was an alphabet 'H' carved extravagantly. He opened it and surprisingly, the wallet was generously roomy.
Keagan smiled and placed the wallet beside him.
"Who knew your products are still being used, daddy," Keagan whispered to no one in particular.
He smiled bitterly as a tear escaped his eye.
***FLASHBACK***
"Daddy, play with me!" the little boy whined.
"Hold on, buddy. I still got some work to do. How about you go play with Albert instead?" a middle-aged man replied. He bent down to the boy's level and caressed the boy's head.
"Albert is boring. He doesn't like playing with cars. All he cares about is his weird Science experiments," the young boy complained.
The man let out a low chuckle. "I see. How about mommy?"
"Mommy said she's busy. She hardly has time for me anymore," the boy pouted.
"No, no. Mommy always has time for you. It just seems like today is a busy day for all of us. I tell you what, how about you accompany me to finish my work and after I'm done, we can play soccer together."
"Okay, daddy!"
The man lifted the boy onto his lap.
"Wow, daddy! Your drawings are so pretty!"
"Aww, thanks bud!" the man fawned.
"Allison told me that she likes boys who can draw. Can you teach me how to draw, daddy? So Allison will talk to me like she does to her friends."
The man frowned. "This girl, Allison isn't talking to you?"
"No. She said that I'm a boy whose parents don't really care about. So she refused to talk to me," the boy answered as his voice became smaller.
"What? Why would she say that?" the man asked with concern laced in his words.
"Because everybody's parents will pick them up after school except me."
The man sighed as he ruffled the boy's hair. "You were bottling all of this and didn't bother to inform me?"
The boy remained quiet.
"Keagan, if someone tells you something like that again, just run over to daddy and I'll beat that person up for you, okay?" the man asked softly.
"No, don't beat people up! My teacher said it's not good to fight!"
"Huh, weird. My teacher told me to always give a piece of my mind to the person who attacked me," the man chuckled as he cradled the boy.
"Daddy's teacher is a bad teacher," the boy nitpicked, causing the man to erupt into fits of laughter.
"I promise to come pick you up after school, okay? I'll make sure to finish my work super fast and take you to eat ice cream afterwards," the man said as he placed a kiss onto the boy's forehead.
"Okay, daddy! You have to make a pinky promise!"
"Okay." The man held out his pinky and wrapped it around the boy's small pinky.
"Pinky promises are meant to be kept, okay daddy?" The man nodded his head affirmatively. The boy smiled and hugged the man tightly.
"I love you daddy."
