"Keagan is okay for now. I've managed to get rid of the bullet. Thankfully, the femoral artery wasn't affected."
Fred heaved a sigh of relief. Keagan is fine. He's alive and well. Maybe not that well but he's okay.
Keagan chuckled. "This is the first time you are very concerned for my well-being."
Fred looked confusingly at Keagan. "What do you mean? I've always been worried for you!"
"Look, I don't want to explain what happened to my pizza again," Keagan answered seriously.
"Oh god, Keagan! When will you stop this? So much torture for a stolen pizza!" Fred groaned. Keagan laughed loudly.
"Since you're able to laugh that loud, I'm gonna go. I have a date waiting for me. And this girl is quite a catch," the doctor interrupted.
"Make sure you don't strain your leg so much."
"Wait, does that mean, I won't be able to go on any crusade for a while?" Keagan cried out sadly.
"Unfortunately," the doctor said as he picked up his medical box and headed to the room door.
"I guess this is also a good thing. K, your health is not something to be trifled with. Use this resting period to replenish your health," Fred commented. Keagan placed both his palms on his face. "Noo, my time is very limited! I need to enjoy every bit of it!"
Fred sighed. "I think you have enough fun to last you for a lifetime. How about we go on a holiday to Hawaii? Enjoy the sun and warmth? Listen to the sound of nature. Maybe even have a coconut milkshake while we're at it."
Keagan wiggled his eyebrows. "That sounds like a plan!"
Fred smiled.
Keagan seemed lost in his thoughts. He looked up and asked. "Where is the woman who shot me?"
"I've brought her back to interrogate her. She's in the basement."
"Tsk, Fred... You've been bringing a lot of women home nowadays. Have you become a playboy? That is a very bad habit." Keagan reprimanded.
"I will not hesitate to slap you if you utter a word again."
"Hahaha, just kidding! What are you planning to do with her?"
"No idea. I'm leaving her to you."
"Hmm, what shall I do?" Keagan thought.
.
.
.
"WAKE UP WOMAN!"
The woman immediately jolted up from her slumber.
"Who are you?"
Keagan scoffed. "Huh, I didn't know my mask was that effective."
The woman gasped in horror.
"You're K?"
"The one and only!" Keagan grinned.
The woman backed up.
"Why are you afraid of me? It's not like I would do something bad to you. And if you recall, you were the one who injured me. Not the other way around," Keagan chuckled as he toyed with his pocket knife in his hand.
"Uh, I d-didn't mean to shoot you. I was doing it out of self-protection," the woman mumbled.
"Before we go into all of that, how shall I address you? It feels awfully weird to call a woman 'woman'. It's like naming a teddy bear 'toy bear'."
"Um, I'm Sarah," the woman muttered.
"Okay, Sarah. I have a proposal to make with you," Keagan took a seat.
There was a five second silence.
"Gosh, Sarah. Aren't you curious?"
"Not really."
Keagan snickered. "You will be once I tell you that this proposal is your only option of living."
"It doesn't matter whether I live or die here."
"Now, now. Don't be so negative, Sarah."
"No, seriously."
"Well, just hear me out, okay?"
Sarah looked at Keagan with suspicion.
"Fine."
"Excellent choice! Good job, Sarah! You won't regret this at all."
"Just explain your ridiculous idea to me already."
"Alright, alright. Don't be so hasty!" Keagan rebuked.
"How about you join my team? We'll have lots of fun together!"
Sarah was stunned.
"Are you psychotic? You want me to join you? Do you know how absurd that sounds?" Sarah shouted out loud.
"Geez, Sarah. For a petite woman, you've got one loud voice!" Keagan said as he rubbed his ears.
"No, I refuse!"
"Why? It'll be fun!"
"This is not some fun game. You're not supposed to be going around and robbing random places."
"How would you know? You've never tried it out before."
"Just let me... think about it first, alright?"
"What's there to think about? It's either a yes or no!"Keagan blurted.
"What are the consequences if I choose no?"
"Then, you die," Keagan said as he straightened his hair.
"D-die?" Sarah shivered.
"You've seen my face! What else am I supposed to do? I can't risk you telling everyone about me!" Keagan remarked.
"But I-"
"Just make up your mind already, Sarah!" Keagan barked.
"OKAY FINE!" Sarah shrieked.
"Yay! A woman in the team!" Keagan joyfully said.
"Now, untie me! My arms and legs are getting numb."
Keagan stood up and did a 90° bow. "Yes, milady. I'm at your service."
