The couple got off their horses, Bethlehem riding a white one and Nathaniel a brown, in front of the village's gate. Village of Saina was the biggest village within Maneerla and was home to the sanguine vampires. A place somewhat safer to humans than the rest of the kingdom.
"The hunters you requested have arrived!" Nathaniel yelled out. One of the guards on the other side of the gates called back, "State your names!" "Bethlehem and Nathaniel Salvador!" answered back.
The wooden gates covered in moss opened slowly. The village ahead was nothing like you've seen before. It was incredibly beautiful. There was a fountain slapped in the middle of the village with shops and houses circling it.
Mountains were visible behind the village and a stunning horizon up ahead. Children were running around playing a game of ball and other play wrestling each other. It felt homely. Nathaniel watched with a gentle smile as Bethlehem's face lit up.
They proceeded to walk further into the village, people were starting to gather round and look at them. In the midst of the crowd, an old short man wearing a long brown robe with golden linings over a burgundy cassock.
He held onto a cane and slowly walked up to the couple, a small, sorrow filled smile placed on his aging face. Bethlehem could somewhat tell that this old man was far from senile, so that meant easier communication was in reach.
"Yer must be the individuals sent by Count Romanov, right?" His voice is dry and flaky. He was wheezing every word out. "Yes we are. We're her to look into the hydra case." reported blandly. A look of disquietude was on the civilians' faces. Children's grins now replaced with a look of anguish and turmoil.
The couple glanced at each other, befuddled by the sudden look on the villagers faces. Bethlehem then conjured the memory of how the villagers were when entering the village.
They were cheerful and calm, almost as if a giant sinister creature wasn't disrupting their flow of life. The villagers vehemently stared as Bethlehem stepped forward towards the chief. "Where exactly is the hydra so we can finish the job? " She asked zealously.
The chief hopped on to one foot then the other. He turned around walking off much to the couple's confusion. He snapped his fingers and a group of men started rushing towards them.
" Bethlehem! " Nathaniel shrieked.
