Chapter 35 - Her stubbornness

I reached the dungeon in a rush. Her presence was strong in the dungeon. I blasted through the floors. When I reached the 12th floor, I could feel that she was somewhere around. I searched the floor. When I was searching, I came around a dark narrow tunnel. I used light magic to make a ball of light and illuminated the area.

I walked slowly. As I went inside, I saw blood on the floor. I called out for Sherry.

No response.

I went further to see a body which was burst into smithers. It looked like minced meat. I was startled when I tried to touch it.

The flesh moved. I presumed it as an illusion and tried to touch it again.

It moved again.

A hole appeared in the flesh. It resembled a mouth.

"Z...za...ck"

(What did that just call my name? Wait a minute. Can this be Sherry? She is immortal, after all.)

As far as I remember, if the undead is supplied with the master's mana, it will regenerate faster. I poured my mana into the flesh. The pieces of flesh started to come together. The blood also retracted back to it. It started forming a body. Soon, it had completely regenerated. As I had suspected, it was Sherry.

"What happened?" I asked her with a straight face.

She was reluctant to answer.

"You are going home. I don't want you to follow me on the journey."I took her hand and teleported in front of her house.

"but..."

"If you can't even trust me to tell me what happened, then I can't trust you either." I forcefully dragged her to the house.

We were about to enter when She stopped me and said, " I will tell you."

"speak," we teleport to our room.

"In the morning, when I said that I was ill, I was lying. I thought that when you were out, I would level up and impress you. I had already discussed it with Sara-san. After you were gone, I meet up with them, outside the dungeon. We started diving and easily cleared 11 floors."

She looked up at me. There was no change of expression.

She continued, "when we were on the 12th floor, we saw across a tunnel. Sara and Rick said that there might be a treasure at the end. I walked in first, and they followed behind me. When I reached the end, I saw dynamite attached to the wall. It blasted before I could even respond. Next thing, I saw was you were healing me."

"Then what happened to Rick and Sara."

"That...they might have gone to look for your help."

"Then what about your weapon."

"That might have been destroyed in the blast."

"There is no way a weapon made of top material by a master blacksmith be destroyed by a little dynamite." I was getting agitated.

"See this." I took out the flier which I got when I was running. She froze when she saw the flier. I knew that deep down she knew what had happened, but she couldn't accept it.

"This isn't true right." She looked at me desperately. I didn't speak anything. Her hands were shaking.

"They might have done it for a reason. They are good people, they saved my life after all."

I was suspicious of those people from the beginning. I knew that something was wrong with them, but I never would have thought they were such vile people. The mask which we wore had a tracker attached to it. I teleported to the area where the tracker was.

There was a small hut in the middle of the forest. Outside the hut, there was a table and chairs made of wood. 15 people were sitting there, drinking and playing cards. Their attire proved that were bandits.

After watching them for a few seconds, we saw Sara and Rick coming from the other side of the forest. They joined the bandits. They had Sherry's weapon and mask in their hand. Other equipment was most likely destroyed as they were made of cheaper metals.

On seeing that, there was no way that Sherry could deny the truth. I charged at them. Sherry might have tried to say something but I paid her no heed.

Boiling in rage, it didn't even take me a minute to slaughter them all.

Only Rick and Sara were left, who struck with fear.

Realizing that they had messed with the wrong person, they fell on their knees and begged for mercy.

Sherry came to me and tried to say something, but I stopped her.

"Kill them," I said, handing her the sword.
