Chapter 7 - Status Reveal

2years later.

The night before my 7th birthday.

"Sleep early today, tomorrow we will see our baby's status..." From the last few days, my mom had been boasting how wonderful my stats would be.

Mom had told me earlier that the future of the person is decided by their job. If a person got a king job then he won't be the king but would be highly respected. Job-specific skills could be learned. The rarer the job, the better skill would be. She also told me that it doesn't matter how many monsters we kill before 7 years, the initial level will be 1 but the initial stats can differ according to the hard work you had put in those 7 years.

But in this world, there was a major difference. Unlike my previous world where there was no level limit, people here had a level limit. The higher the limit, the more talent you were. In some rare cases, people could break through their limits to increase their max level. Rare jobs especially had a higher level limit.

I felt a sudden chill down my spine.

(Although I have cheat skills, I don't have a job which is the most important part. How can I tell this to mom who had been expecting great things from me? How would she feel when she sees my stats. Will she hate me? Blame me? Scorn me? I don't know We will wait till tomorrow and see.)

But I couldn't sleep. The night ended faster than expected. Mom had woken up early to prepare various things. They had even called a priest for better luck or something. I came down after getting ready. Everyone was waiting for me in the living hall. The priest had already arrived. Even Sherry and parent were there.

Everyone's eyes were glittering with expectations. Dad wanted me to be a swordsman while mom wanted me to be a wizard but what was I. Jobless

I sat in the middle. Not a word was spoken.

I took a deep word and said.

'Status'

β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”-

The god had told me that the skill which I had selected are hidden until I want the others to see.

That meant that the titles, innates skills and passive traits were not visible.

I once read in a book that normally people have stats in single digits and rarely, people cross 10. It was unheard of a person getting stats points at the beginning. My Int was insanely high due to the magic boost and the technique I used to increase mana.

But the job was the biggest problem.

Before I could speak my mom started to break down.

Busting into tears she said "how can this be...

how can my son not have a job... how..how?"

Everyone looked at me with pitiful eyes. I couldn't bear it. I rushed outside to the forest.

I couldn't stop crying. After getting tired, I leaned against a tree and thought (why do I feel so sad. I never felt like this in my previous life. Even when I was dying I didn't feel like this. But why now. Was it so wrong to not choose a job? Is it so wrong that they look at me like that.)

I didn't know.

I didn't want to know.

I hated seeing my mom like that.

(How can I face them after this. What will I tell them.)

Being tired I had fallen asleep. When I woke up it was already night.

(Should I return or not? Will they send me away)

At last, I decided to return

(If they throw me away then that's all I mattered to them. Nothing more, nothing less)

When I entered the house, I could see mom and dad still sitting there, Sherry, her parents, and the priest had already gone back.

As I entered they looked at me but I couldn't bear to look them in the eye. I ran upstairs into my room and locked it.

Crying and thinking what to do for the next two days, Neither did I come out of the room nor did I eat anything. I didn't even attend Sherry's status revealing the next day. Sometimes mom and dad tried to talk and left my food at the door but I didn't respond.

(But now I have decided to tell them everything that had happened till now.)
