We stood at the edge of the forest.
Before going in, I had a quick idea.
'System, could you open up the [Lucky Draw]' I asked The System.
[Of course, Host] The System answered me.
A screen came up showing three options now, [Daily Draw], [Draw] and, [Draw All].
That was new...
I quickly chose [Daily Draw], knowing that it was the... well, daily option.
It got... a Magikarp [1 Star].
...Really?
You know what, nevermind. It's time to hunt.
"Now, it's time to go and hunt!" I said with a forced grin as the three of us marched into the forest, ready to hunt for large amounts of meat.
We entered the forest and walked around for a while, looking for something big enough to feed Luffy and Ace's ravenous stomachs.
Eventually, we found it... or, well... a whole group of "it"
"It" being a large pride of giant lions, who we caught the attention of as they were eating a large tiger.
They looked like slightly smaller versions of Richie, Mohji's giant pet lion.
And they were angry.
I froze in fear at the lions, unable to move a muscle.
The largest lion of the pride leaped at us, only for Luffy to knock it away into a tree.
The rest of the pride, after recovering from their shock at the largest lion getting instantly beaten, quickly pounced at the three of us.
Ace managed to beat half of them mid-air, while Luffy took out the other half.
I just stood there in fear.
...I couldn't do anything.
I-I was going about this all wrong.
Relying on my Summons... that weren't even here.
I could've used the swordsmanship abilities on myself... could've given myself one of the... admittedly less powerful Devil Fruits. But they were still Devil Fruits, I could've made them work.
I need to get stronger.
So I won't freeze in fear again.
If Luffy and Ace weren't strong enough, they could have died... I could have died.
I didn't want to die again...
I don't want anyone I love to die.
I think I know of the best way to get stronger.
Monkey D. Garp, my grandfather.
I should get Grandpa Garp to train me... what was I doing, wasting ten years of my new life? I could have been so much more powerful than I am... if I didn't wait for the system.
We returned to Dadan's House, carrying a pride of dead lions on our backs, Ace and Luffy looked absolutely ecstatic.
I, meanwhile had a new goal in mind.
To become the strongest there ever was, and not allow anyone of my family... or myself to get hurt.
Which is why, when I walked up to Grandpa Garp, I asked something that nobody expected me to.
"Grandpa. I want you to train me"
