I watch out the window as things pass me at blinding speed, although not as fast as Blossom. We are a few hours away from Lycon and it is way out of my view. I see as objects pass by us, plains, a few trees, and some animals that look like wolves with a horn on their head chasing what seems like an elk or deer of some sort.
I hear in the background a click and look behind me to see a box built into the wall open up to serve two glasses of water, circles of runes floating inside. 'That's cool, although kinda expected because of royalty.' I think as I turn back around.
For a moment, I catch a glint of light in a bush and squint, trying to make out what it is. But before I can even react, the cart jolts to a stop causing me to hurriedly grip the seat, I hear a ripping sound as I jolt forward, but stop myself from falling.
In the corner of my eye, I see something shocking happen, my new teacher falling forward, unconscious, the water he was holding spills across the floor. I suddenly hear a glass shatter and look over to see the king passed out in his seat, his water also on the floor.
'What the hell is happening?!' I think as I jump up rushing over to try and wake up my teacher. But I get no response, I put my hand in front of his mouth and heave a sigh of relief before standing up, "At least he is still breathing." I quickly walk over to check the king, just to see he is still breathing as well. I calmly get up look over at the princess, making sure she is alright. Luckily and sadly, she is the only one who had a seatbelt on. Now that I know everyone is safe, I knock on the wall leading to the front of the cart, "What's happening up there?!"
I figured out the driver is up front from the direction the king yelled, it had shocked me the king would yell to the driver but slowly made more sense the more I thought about it since the barrier between the two could be really thick. After a moment, I hear the voice of the driver yell back, "It's an ambush! What is Dreag doing?!"
I glance at the now unconscious orc on the floor and quickly respond, "He is out of commission! Do you have any safety plans?"
I hear the voice again, "Out of commission? Damn it all! Looks like you need to defend!"
'Son of a.....something is wrong with this situation, there has to be.' I think for a moment before yelling back, "Fine, fine! I'll be sure to try and handle this quickly!" I think as I look at the princess again, she has a face of shock and mutters something incomprehensible to herself.
I get down on my hands and knees and look at her, "Listen, I am going to defend you so there is no need to worry, here, hold Winter to make you feel more comfortable." I say as I gently place The blob of slime on her lap.
She stops muttering and looks at me with a worried face as she gently holds Winter, who is now purring, trying to comfort her. "I'm counting on you. Be careful." She says as a flicker of concern flashes in her eyes.
I nod and look at the still shivering knight who somehow stayed conscious, "Ok, you need to stay here and protect her in case I fail, you are the last line of defense to the princess, guard her with your life." I command the knight, who hurriedly nods in response. I walk over to the cart window and see about 30 people in barbaric looking armor running towards us, swords and maces in their hand.
'To think that someone is trying to bring down a king's cart with weapons like that. It's…kinda stupid, but I need to finish this quickly so I can call for help safely.' I think as I stand up and start walking towards the door. But before I leave, I hear a voice shout from the front of the cart.
"Even if you have the ability to kill, don't! We need to capture them alive so they can pay for their crimes! Either that or stall for time until reinforcements arrive!"
'No killing? So you want us to die?' I begin asking myself before eventually complying, 'Fine, no blood. Besides, I don't know if the princess has seen death yet, after all, she looks about...hmmmm...I would say around 7, maybe 8. Although height and growth is a bit different than my world, this is my guess.'
I think as I access my ring and pull out a box, a box as large as my body. I unzip the bag on top, pulling out a folded object with ethereal smoke floating off of it.
I then store the box back in my ring, 'Got no time to equip my armor.' And step out of the cart. The blade unfolds and reveals a massive scythe.
The barbaric people slow a bit, seemingly confused as to why they are fighting a kid. But when they see the scythe, they prepare themselves, the ethereal smoke floating off of it making the hair on their necks stand. I suddenly hear in the group, "He's a weapon mage!"
They suddenly become serious and I sense a hint of bloodlust in the air. 'That's right, think like that and see where it gets you.' I think as I crouch down, getting into a launch position, the scythe stretching out behind me. It's blade glows with the sense of death exuding off of it.
"It's showtime." I say as I bolt forward, slicing downward at one of the men closest to me, his eyes go wide as he jumps back, trying to get away, but to no avail.
'Almost any regular person would see a blur, but these bandits are skilled to be able to see me!' I think shocked. A moment later, the scythe hits him in the skull. I watch as the guy faceplants into the dirt, blood leaking from a fresh wound on his head.
'But not skilled enough.' I stand upright, looking at the bandits reactions, but no one moves, seemingly shocked by the scene. A child had knocked out a member, who has been through danger again and again, always surviving.
'Better take this chance!' I think as I bolt towards a group of them, using the back of my scythe and sweeping at them, causing the group to become my baseball as I hit them, sending them flying into the ground, some hitting trees with many, many groans. I then look over at the rest, trying my best to release a killing intent.
I see many of them turn around to run away, seemingly not wanting to try and take out this cart anymore. I see one larger than the others, his armor clearly better than his fellow raiders. His body has faint wisps of orange energy flowing off of him, although barely noticeable.
'He must be the leader, all the bandit leaders where the best stuff while giving their underlings their scraps.' I bolt forward, but see him stand his ground, holding a shield on his arm and a large sword in his other hand. I take a swing at his head, trying to knock him unconscious, but he brings his shield up at the last second and deflects the attack. His feet sink into the ground as a wave of air is seen under him.
'This man is strong! And his reflexes are insane!' I jump back and look for his shadow when I realize, it's directly under him. 'Damn you noon!' He jumps at me while I'm cursing at the sun, chopping down with his blade.
"Crap!" I blurt as I hurriedly raise my scythe, his blade hitting off the handle. I feel vibrations as his blade makes contact, my weapon willing to slip. 'Oh no you don't!' I grip my scythe with all my might, and push the handle forward, causing him to launch back.
As he floats through the air, stunned, I take my chance. I launch at him, flying through the air before hitting his head with the back of the scythe blade, knocking him out cold. 'It felt like I just hit a rock.' I think as I stare at his limp body for a moment before landing. I begin walking back towards the cart only to see the door open and Dreag walking towards me. I might be mistaken but I thought I seen a little shock in his eyes.
"You pass the test." He says with a hint of surprise in his voice. I laugh, "I knew something was up, you and the king passing out conveniently as we get attacked by bandits. It was hard to believe you would pass out because you are a Divine Beast after all." I fold up the weapon and put it back into the box. He points at it, "What is in that box, I had noticed it yet have no idea what it was, and where did you get that weapon? I have never seen someone use a scythe as a weapon so I can't imagine it's easy to get in the market."
I am shocked at the bombardment of questions, not expecting so many at one time. I quickly calm my mind and look at him with a plain expression printed on my face, "I got the box and the weapon for Christmas, the box holds my armor."
