Chapter 31 - [Chapter 31] Royal Letter

He leans down and kisses her forehead, "You can sleep till breakfast but you have to get up by then, our kingdom needs both, their king and queen." She lazily nods, sleeps sweet embrace taking over her again as she falls back to rest. He gets back up and leaves the bedroom, the two knights waiting outside covered in full black armor, magic gems on the back and lines that branch out from it, seemingly breath with mana.

When the king walks out, one of them nods to the other and starts walking behind the king, guarding him to the king's dining room. As they are walking, he hears a door open and sees his son walk out. His son is about 5'1ft fall with dark red hair about ear length, him being eleven years old with such a short stature definitely does not help with his attitude.

"Morning dad." "Morning Jack. How did you sleep?" He says, quick to respond.

"I slept fine dad. What's for breakfast?"

"I don't know, I was going there myself to find out."

"Mind if I come with you dad?"

"What kind of question is that Jack, of course you can!" He says a bit louder.

They are both walking down the hall, talking about different topics and such, the knight close behind them, when a young girl walks out of a room. She is about 4'10ft tall with red hair. She walks out wearing a white and black dress with frills on the bottom the emblem of the kingdom on the right side of her chest.

She sees them and walks up, her face smooth and elegant, a smile is on it. "Morning dad, morning brother." She says as she curtsies slightly.

"How did you guys sleep?"

"We slept well Aurora, thank you, how about you?"

Her eyes spark, "I slept great thank you! But I had a strange dream...."

"A strange dream? How about you tell us about it during breakfast?" He says while he motions for her to follow them. She smiles a bit more and hurries to walk beside them. They walk down long halls filled with red and black colors. Gold items, magical weapons, animal trophies, and portraits fill the hall, showcasing power.

They eventually get to a set of double doors that is larger than the rest by a foot or two. They walk in to see a room with a beautiful granite white and black table in the middle, the walls have paintings of various magical beasts from what looks like a massive lion with a mane of water to a dragon, breathing fire into the sky, black fire.

They sit down in seats respectfully and as they do, a few butlers and maids walk out with tons of food, from bacon to a form of bread. They set up the table and when they finish, the king waves over the head butler and maid and thank them which they just bow to in response and leave.

The princess grabs her fork with her webbed hand and starts to eat. 'It has been a ten years since she was born and I still can't believe that she is one of the divine beasts.' He thinks while he looks up at one of the paintings. The painting has a depiction of a blue wolf, covered with scales, trails of gas flow off of its body. 'Will she really have the ability to change into that?' He looks over at his daughter, she is smiling while eating a form of French toast, the golden brown bread covered in syrup now having a hole in it. 'My own innocent daughter? Having to fight? I can't imagine!'

He shakes his head and starts to eat while still thinking, the topic still there. 'Anyway, she has the abilities of a divine beast, so I will have to get her trained by our older divine beast.' He stares at the paintings, each one showing a different divine beast. All of a sudden, he is awoken back to reality by a frantic knock on the door.

A guard at the door reaches over and opens the door, a messenger runs in, sweat pouring over his face. "My king! My king! I have received very urgent news!" He says as he runs around the table and stops beside the king, catching his breath.

"What is it?" The king asks, his face and voice having a slight puzzlement.

"We received *huff* a letter from the outskirts of our kingdom, we thought it was just a normal *huff* letter, so we set it aside. Earlier today, a mage found and read the letter and then yelled for me to bring *huff* it to you no matter the circumstances." He says between breathes, handing the king the letter, the seal on it broken.

The king grabs the letter and starts to read it. 'To whom ever this may concern, I am the mayor of Lycon writing on request if Mr. Johnson about a strange reaction with an ability stone. Supposedly, he was testing his newly adopted son's affinities when the darkness stone cracked and darkness flowed from it. We wanted to know if this reaction was considered normal or rarer. If you have any ideas about it's peculiar reaction, please let us know. From, Gorag.'

He stops eating and gets up abruptly, sending the chair flying backwards. He looks at the messenger, his face as hard as stone, "Get me an escort straight to Lycon and notify Dreag that he will come along." The messenger nods then runs out. Telling a butler to start packing his luggage. The king then looks over at his daughter, "You need to come along with me as well." She looks over at her dad, worry on her face, "Why do you need me to come with father? What is wrong?" He hands over the letter and she reads it, her face worried at first, then excited, "You found another divine beast?! I will get myself ready for the trip!" She says as she takes her napkin, cleans her mouth off, and starts running back to her room, followed suite by a knight.

His son looks at him, envy written on his face, "You found another divine beast? I want to come along!"

"I'm sorry, but I cannot allow that. I need you here with your mother, in my absence I need my heir to keep the kingdom in check because your mother is very busy already."

"Why are you going now anyway?"

His father looks at him, his face serious, but slowly calming down.
