Chapter 2 - Mesta of Anadoria

Above the tunnels of Mesta far in the ends of the cave city the palace stood under siege by heroes attempting to oust the ruler. He had cast a sacrificial barrier as a power source to incur the wrath a visiting Fae woman. She has lost a friend in front of her eyes causing her to lose her temper against the arch-fiend who ruled Mesta city. In lore it was popular for Anadorian Kings and queens to reign ruthlessly and even a a rare few benevolence became their banner but in this case not even the wolven guardsmen could withstand the might of this fae. The king himself stood in the throne room holding a book in his hands the moment she broke through the ironfasted doors off their hinges. He seemed rather unphased by the large timbers that scattered around him. It would have been a sight to see if he'd remained unnerved by the entrance if not for the last bit of shrapnel aimed directly towards him from chance. The king's grandiose appearance diminished rapidly into a Beowulf's. Large teeth snagged the log shrapnel and pitched it aside with a heavy growl. The form itself lapsed as well from the menacing titan to the aristocratic King. "You're too late Faeling. You can have Mesta or you can tell the others the throne is relinquished."

"Bull-" The fae answered and gathered her power. "You think this is a joke." The king and the fae said together in unison. "You think anyone wants this heap?" The king once again mimicked the woman as she waved an arm towards the priceless decorations. "You'll pay for- How are you doing that?" The furious car's words turned from wrath to realisation of something unusual.

"My dear, have you ever heard of a play? The rules of which the actors and the actresses must not break character?" The king flipped the page and continued to read as if from a script. "It's that book isn't it? Yes my dear. The fae woman begins to cast a spell to destroy the book." The woman's anger surges because she couldn't care less about the monarch's monologue. Anadoria was a beautiful place and she had just lost a treasure more important that him. She fired the blast of power from her palms but the king waa gone afterwards. "This is far from over my dear. When I return with my new generals then all of Anadoria will be mine."

Maddening crackles echoed throughout the palace stones and the woman burned away all the things that could burn. "Monsters!" Monster! You should have never messed with me." She called before leaving the throne room in shambles. She sees with regret the destruction the king's madness has brought to the palace including the injured bodies of the volves that has defended themselves from the breach of the other rioters. Despite her impressive appearance and rage at the king she was just the first of the people coming to storm the palace. On the outside she seemed important to the palace citizens risking their lives to capture her visage in their. curious glances. She returned into the passages back towards the gates and was lost in the crowd of rioters mobbing through the halls. The rioters too saw an empty throne room and a few dared to loot the castle as a mob does when crazed with deep emotions. The incident in the castle was not the only one and the fae herself disappeared and blended back into the city of Mesta as the citizens picked up the pieces of newly broken lives. Such a disaster was not unfamiliar to the great city states of Anadoria which wasted over many things such as resources, fame, dominance, power and powerful usurbers but this itself wasn't on their daily menu either. A shopkeeper lost his daughter and a whole barracks room with solders simply missing. This case was across the board but the towers around the city were somehow the mysterious cause of a terrible spell. The spell towers stationed around the city powered down. The blue light emitted from them still radiated inside the cave city as the city dealt with its situation.
