We were finally dismissed for lunch. Oh, thank goodness. If I had to endure that any longer I would throw myself out the window.
But, now I'm facing a new challenge. I don't even know where the cafeteria is!
I grabbed onto Millie, "Millie. What do I usually do at this time?"
She turned her head in confusion, "What do you mean? You eat."
Curse this bland side character. "Of course. But, I meant, where and how."
"Oh. Well you go to the cafeteria and get a meal."
"I see. And what do you do?"
"I also go to the cafeteria and eat there."
"Wonderful! I shall follow you then."
She furrowed her brow, "You've been acting really different recently."
"Oh?"
F*ck. Have I been too reckless lately? They won't lock me up for being crazy... Right?
"Yes. Usually you wait to go until everyone gets food and then you disappear."
Ah. Mouse-chan returns. Really, Seri. Couldn't you have been a more likable character?
I reached my hand around her shoulder and smiled at her fondly, "This is a new me. I wish to eat lunch with you now."
"R-really?"
I nodded, "Of course! You are just such an amazing person! I would be so happy to accompany you."
She smiled and looked down blushing, "O-okay."
I followed Millie into the cafeteria and was amazed. It didn't look anything like a cafeteria, but rather a 5 star restaurant that I wouldn't be able to afford to eat at even if I sold my organs!!! It was so dazzling I had to shield my eyes. I wonder if they'd notice if I swiped something.
As we waited in line, I heard excited girl screams. Well, since this is a stereotypical romance novel I know exactly what that would be. I turned around to see William and Dante walk over. William glanced at me and quickly turned away.
Was he just avoiding my gaze?! Little bastard. YOU were the one that ratted me out today you f*cking snitch.
Dante also noticed the tension and gave his usual fake smile. He walked over to me with William following reluctantly behind him.
"Oh! Miss Seri. Lovely to see you again."
I tried to refrain from showing my disgust, "Oh yeah. You too Dante."
Gag.
He chuckled, "I heard from William about your feat in the classroom this morning."
I glanced at William who still refused to look at me. He looked like he was pissed off.
I raised an eyebrow, "Huh? What feat?"
"You solved a question that is advanced for your age."
"Huh? Advanced?"
William joined in with an irritated tone, "Don't act stupid. That question is something we learn in my grade."
Really? Now I see how I messed up. I just assumed we were learning it because he gave it to me to answer. Now I see that teacher really didn't expect me to answer. Somehow I feel even more pissed off at him.
Dante burst into laughter, "Ahahaha! She really didn't know!"
Uck. I really don't like him.
I smiled at him sweetly, "Anyway, why are you still standing here?"
Dante answered still maintaining his fake nice act, "Because we are in line to get our food."
I pointed at the girls behind them, "Then go to the back of the line. You cut in front of those girls."
"Aw. How cold." Dante turned to the girls behind them, "Ladies, is it all right for me to cut in front of you?"
They all squealed in delight.
He turned back to me, "There you go."
God, why are you trying to get me killed so early?
I ignored them and turned back to Millie who stood gaping at them. I tapped her chin.
"Millie. If you don't close your mouth a fly will go in."
She shut her mouth and blushed, "Yes."
I could hear Dante snicker behind me. Fine. I will just ignore him. When we got to the counter I felt my mouth water. They had dishes set out for people to decide which one they wanted. How much money does this school have?!
There was lobster, shrimp, caviar, steak, and so much more expensive dishes I couldn't even pronounce.
The lunch lady spoke, "Name?"
"Le- Ahem. Seri."
"What set?"
"Set B please."
After me and Millie got our meals, I followed her. She smiled bashfully at me, "Where would you like to sit?"
I shrugged, "Wherever you want." Since I'm not sure if there's assigned seating.
She beamed, "Let's eat outside on the patio!"
"Alright."
"That's a great idea!"
I heard Dante's voice behind me and turned in disgust. He smiled back at me.
Universe, get this crazy boy away from me.
He smiled at me, "Can we sit with you as well?"
"No." I said.
"Yes!" Millie said.
I hung my head.
Seri- 0. Dante- 1.
"Why are we going to sit with them?" William asked clearly upset by the idea.
I joined him, "Yes! Why?"
Dante chuckled, "Because she is interesting."
He looked at me with shimmering gold eyes. Although he tried to look warm and friendly, it had traces of unfriendliness and coldness. One would notice if they looked hard enough. It was clear this was just an act.
NOOO! Universe! I will destroy you for this!!! Fine. I will just ignore him. Ignore him Seri. You got this.
We all sat down and I could hear the chatter around us. Sure enough they were gossiping. After all, the two boys usually ate by themselves. But today they were eating with two bland girls.
Seri. I promise I will make you beautiful. So beautiful that all of the girls will die from envy.
I looked at Millie, "How long do we have for lunch?"
"Why are you asking her that, shouldn't you know?" William said staring me down.
I glared back, "Did I ask you? No. Now shut up."
William dropped his food from his fork and Dante burst into laughter. I ignored them.
I looked at Millie and smiled sweetly, "Millie?"
"Um, well we usually have a break between lunch and our next class."
"Good. Now I assume we have a library?" She nodded, "Could you take me there after lunch?"
William's irritated voice spoke again, "You don't even know where the library is?"
I looked back at William, "Stop eavesdropping on our conversation."
"Eavesdropping?! You're speaking in full volume right in front of me!"
"And what's your point?"
He was rendered speechless. No one has ever spoke to him like that before.
Tsk. I guess I will have to take it upon myself to make sure he is disciplined.
Dante spoke, "Me and William usually go after lunch. You both could come with us."
Ugh. Denied.
I looked at Millie who looked like she would faint from happiness. I hung my head in defeat, "Fine."
I turned back to my food. I looked at my plate drooling. Ah! They even give you a cake! I bit into it and smiled.
Ah, I love cake. I had to give it up in my previous life. But now, I've been blessed with a small body! Bring on all the cake!
William frowned at me, "Hey. Don't eat your cake first. Eat your lunch."
I rolled my eyes at William, "Yes, mother."
"Wha-" William tried to protest but was drowned out by Dante's laughter.
Oh yeah! I forgot I had another motive today. Hmm. I wonder where I could find those at. I stared at Dante thinking deeply.
He noticed my stare and smiled, "What is it?"
I cleared my throat, "Where would they keep matches at this school?"
He blinked in confusion at me, "Um. Probably in the janitors closet?"
I nodded. Of course he would know.
William looked curious, "Wait! Why do you want to know that?"
"Don't worry your pretty little head William."
I'm starting to realize that the character description in the original novel was not accurate.
William's not cold and aloof. He's annoying and nosy.
And Dante's not warm and friendly!
