"Hey, you know the code." He ran towards you the time he saw you walk along the school grounds.
It's the midterm exam period and everyone was feeling anxious on the upcoming tests. Although you spent the whole week reviewing in the library, you were still quite nervous, unlike Taehyung who only crammed the night before and spent the past week in the computer shop and comic store.
"Left kick for the first number. Right for the second. Fingers for the multiple choice." He continued explaining.
"I get it dimwit. But you're on your own when it comes to computation. That's what you get for not reviewing." You answered back not looking at him.
You are both childhood friends. Although he has these bad habits, you can't do anything but to spoil him.
The bell rang and the exam papers were distributed.
By the time the teacher turned her back to go to the teacher's table, Taehyung immediately kicked your chair signalling an answer for number 1.
You looked at him with crossed brows. Who in the world would immediately cheat the moment he holds the test paper! He should read the questions first!
You shook your head telling him you won't give an answer.
A few minutes later, he signalled an answer for number 12. It was a computation problem with multiple choices.
By this time, you know, either he doesn't know how to solve the question or just too lazy to compute for the answer.
You raised your third finger, signalling a letter C answer for the question.
The cheating pattern continued every 5 minutes with the kicking of the chair breaking the silence in the room. This was noticed by the teacher and approched the both of you.
"You. Both of you. Are you cheating?" She slammed both of her hands on Tae's table.
The class was startled at the sudden sound in the room.
Tae, who was pretending on solving on a scrap paper, looked at the teacher calmly and shook his head.
"No ma'am." He answered.
"Then what's with the kicking of chairs?" The teacher's voice was still a pitch higher than her normal tone.
"I'm sorry ma'am but it's a mannerism I usually do when I'm feeling anxious during exams." He said showing his puppy eyes.
"Yes ma'am and since we are childhood friends, I'm already used to it so it doesn't bother me." You backed him up.
"Okay but please keep the noise down, you are not the only students taking the exams. And if I caught the both of you cheating, you'll immediately fail the course. Do you understand?" Her hands were already on her waist while talking to you.
You both nodded and the class continued on the exam.
After the exam, Tae immediately approached you, putting his arms around your shoulder.
"You are and will always be the best bestfriend!" He remarked pinching your cheeks as you walked down the stairs.
"Bitch you better study for the next exam or I won't help you for real." You slapped his arm removing it from your shoulder.
"Where do you want to eat? My treat." he said confindently walking with his hands in his pockets.
This guy. Really. Why does he look so calm. You were almost caught cheating. Exams are still ongoing. He didn't even study a thing. And now he wants to eat. How does he have so much time in his hands?
While munching on a cheese burger and reading your notes, he suddenly talked.
"If I aced the math exam, you have to do me a favor." He said looking nervous.
"What do you mean by ace?" You said, only giving him a glimpse, returning your gaze back to your notebook.
"Top. Number 1. Ace." He answered back.
You looked at him questioning then burst out laughing.
"How would you ace it if you didn't even study? You kept on asking the answers every 5 minutes." You said, still laughing.
"Yah, if I really ace it, you have to do the favor. Okay? No backing out."
"Okay. Whatever." You brushed him off and continued reviewing.
Math was the only subject you were both classmates on, so the other exams for you was quiet.
After the exams, results were out and you rushed to the bulletin to see the results.
"Wha - what? How did that happen?" You stuttered as you saw the results in Math subject.
You ranked 2nd in your whole department. Taehyung? Well, he really ACED it. He ranked 1.
You immediately rummaged for your phone in your backpack and called him.
"Results are in?" He said as the call went through.
"How?" That was the only word you said.
"Well, I only studied math." He said with little giggles.
"Bitch! And you were asking althroughout the exam." You whispered-yelled preventing the other students to hear your conversation.
"Just." He laughed.
"So about the favor." He continued.
"Well, I always wanted to ask you this but I don't have the courage to tell you face to face. It may sound so coward asking you this on the phone but, can you be my girlfriend?" He said.
"Acing the Math was the deciding factor whether I'd ask you this or not so - " You cut his monologue.
"Where are you now?" You were looking around then run towards the school lobby, with your heavy breathing being heard on the other side of the line.
"Now?" He said. The sound of a pushed back chair and fallen backpack was heard.
"I'm in the class-" You cut the call and run to your classroom. You saw him outside the room and he started panicking when he saw you approaching him.
"What did you want to ask again?" You said, with looks both confused and overwhelmed at the same time.
"I - I. Can yo - you be my ..." The last words were a murmur. Although they were words from a whisper, you can make them out and you were sure about it. You smiled but you continued teasing him.
"What? I didn't hear you well."
He took a deep breath and talked, loud enough for the whole hallway to hear.
"CAN YOU BE MY GIRLFRIEND?" He shouted and ran back inside the classroom.
You giggled and followed him. He was already slumped in his table, shy at what he did.
You lowered to his ear and whispered.
"You don't have to shout you, dummy. It has always been a yes."
