Chapter 13 - The Reality

Evening came when Lander stopped reading the book he got from the elderly man, "How unrespectful of me, I didn't even ask the name of the elderly man."

He then prepared food for the three of them and slept afterward.

Morning came when Lander did his usual routine: running, juggling, martial arts, and image training. After that, he again prepared food for the three of them.

When Yan Yan woke up, Lander immediately called her to go running and she would only stop if he said so. Lander also told her that she wouldn't be having food or water if she ever stopped. He was acting like a strict coach. Then he pointed to her the track she would be running, it was the area around the cave.

Hearing that, Yan Yan became scared. She didn't know why, but every time she heard the command of Lander, she would deliberately get scared. It was as if, Lander's command was the highest law she had to follow. And so she did what Lander told her.

Seeing Yan Yan being cooperative, Lander smiled, "She's a good girl!"

Then he saw Grey on the side watching Yan Yan running around, "Grey, go and accompany Yan Yan running. Remember, only if I say stop should you stop. If not, then you won't be eating until tomorrow."

"I will follow Master's command." Grey willingly replied. Then it joined Yan Yan running around the cave.

After that, Lander went under a big tree. He sat down and continued his reading. When lunch came, Lander would still go and prepare food for the three of them. And he stopped them from running.

Yan Yan was exhausted after an hour of running. She was scared that Lander would get mad at her so she persevered. Not less than an hour when she felt the fatigue weakened her but she continued. After two hours, she limped down from exhaustion. She can't continue.

Grey, on the other hand, became exhausted after two hours of running. This cub wolf has more endurance than Yan Yan even though it is only a year and a half old. Still, after three hours he also limped down out of fatigue.

While reading, Lander would glance at the two from time to time. He saw how Yan Yan persevered despite her exhaustion. He appreciated her. When he saw that she limped down after 2 hours of running to jogging until she was just walking, he was shocked. He never imagined that a ten-year-old girl would be able to persevere at such a degree. That perseverance also delighted him, "She was just like me when I trained under my master."

Although he said that she couldn't stop until he said so, he never intended to make her starve or suffer at the very beginning of her training. It was just a test for her to check her mentality and endurance. And for him? Yan Yan passed with flying colors.

As for Grey, he was also astounded when he had more endurance than Yan Yan despite having just been born a year and a half.

After they had eaten, Lander told them to go and rest and enjoy the rest of the afternoon as he went back to his position and continued reading.

The evening came when he went back to Sunny Village to buy food for them. He also purchased fresh meats, vegetables, fruits, seasonings, and booze that would last for three days so he wouldn't be running back to the village every day. After buying the things they need, Lander has only a gold coin left. As for the money he gave to Yan Yan, only nine silvers left after he told her to give him the remaining bronze coins and one silver.

The next morning, Lander did his usual training, cooked food for them, and instructed the two to continue running while he would just continue reading.

This scenario lasted for three days when Lander finished reading the book and was digesting the knowledge he just received.

As he has expected, the story about the outcasts has another story. It was the story that came from the first batch of the outcasts.

According to the book, the outcasts were the people chosen by two gods the God of Hunting and Fore and the Goddess of the Forest to subdue an evil force trying to conquer humanity.

These chosen one's duty was to eradicate the evil force with their own lives and stop them from conquering the humanities.

After a decade of constant fighting, these chosen ones were able to fend off the evil force temporarily but they were receiving a minimal supply of food from the other humans who weren't part of the battle. So they prayed to the two gods to send them supplies of food.

The two gods became angry at these chosen ones. The two gods think that because they were the chosen ones then they can just ask for their help. So these two gods sent them thunders to punish them and a lot of these chosen ones were hit and died. Only a thousand were left when the evil force started attacking them again.

Left with no other choice, the chosen ones chose to retreat and hide in the mountains. There, they started to build and regain their footing to continue to fend off the evil force. But the lack of supply was their greatest enemy so they decided to half their force, one was for guarding and the other for hunting.

It was then that the chosen ones felt the wrath of the two gods because they destroyed an entire mountain especially a forest to make it their camp. And the other reason was that they hunted all the beasts in that forest and slayed them for food, especially the golden lambs.

According to Young Master Brokko, these chosen ones were punished for killing a golden lamb but according to the book, there was a herd of golden lambs slayed for food supplies.

But the reason for having the tattoo or the curse was not because of destroying the forest or slaying the golden lambs. It was because these chosen ones were betrayed by the gods who sent them to war and the people whose role was just to supply them with food so they chose to betray humanity for their survival. They gave the golden lambs to the evil force in exchange for their lives and they also destroyed the forest to showcase their defiance against the two gods.

There was also another reason why these chosen ones betrayed humanity. The two gods had chosen another batch of humans called the Holy Ones, in case the chosen ones were able to survive the war they should kill the survivors so that they wouldn't attract the attention of the other races to invade humanities or take the side of the evil force and gang up every human being on this world.

Everything was planned. It was a major conspiracy. The chosen ones were only able to learn everything when one of the Holy Ones was the daughter of one of the chosen ones. She escaped and sought her father and told him everything.

Then the father told these to the other chosen ones. A lot of them didn't believe and ignored him. But when they were about to go back and seek help from other humans, these Holy Ones surrounded them and attacked them without hesitation.

Out of thousands, only twenty-three survived including the father of one of the Holy Ones. Those who didn't believe him at first sacrificed themselves for him and his group to escape after learning the whole truth. Because of this, they were able to move out and hide with heavy injuries. But when they woke up, they found each of them had a similar tattoo, also they weren't able to practice magic and if anyone tried to cast magic, they would be hit by lightning.

The Holy Ones chased them at the end of the continents, but these chosen ones were able to survive because one of them would remain to stall or sacrifice their life for the others to escape. Unexpectedly, one of the chosen ones who stalled the Holy Ones touched one of them and when the next day came, this Holy One also received the tattoo of the outcasts and when he tried casting magic, he was struck by lightning.

Upon learning this, the Holy Ones prayed for the two gods for their help and they were given the Blessed Water and how to create it. But when the chosen ones realized that they could spread this curse to others by just touching, they immediately hid their tattoos went into a civilization, and started touching everyone they met.

Then the era of the outcasts flourished or so they thought. But it became their doom when the two gods appeared and started killing those outcasts. Then these outcasts begged for their lives and told them to be the slaves of the Holy Ones and they were spared.

The instigator of this touching virus of the outcasts who was the father of one of the Holy Ones has long fled and gone missing and everyone said he died. Some said he had hidden himself and others thought he was captured but no one knew what happened, even the two gods were unaware of his location.

The daughter of this chosen one, on the other hand never joined the crusade of killing the chosen ones. Instead, she chose to run away too. And nobody knew what happened to her also.

Upon learning this, Lander clenched his fists and wanted to confront these two gods and the Holy Ones. How could these gods just throw away the lives of innocent people? They were there to be the vanguard of a war but they are being treated miserably. Lander became pissed and he swore to himself that he will never bow down to these Holy Ones whether they have a moral or not. And he would also bear his fangs against the two gods. Even if the ones written in the book were authentic or not, his instinct told him that it was real.

These two gods were unreasonable. The chosen ones treated them with respect but they pushed them to their end committing the greatest sin-betraying humanity.
