Chapter 16 - Ch 4 Part 3

Nuvaro: "Please take a look at her on the left and give me your honest opinion?"

Jero Hacter: (Looking straight at Kale the Slaver…) "Can you please take the one to the left side of the cage out please so I may look at her more closely?"

Kale the Slaver: "Of course sir, right away! You're the best appraiser in town, anyone would be a fool not to listen to your opinion."

Nuvaro had asked a few of his men to block him from the other girl's view. Did not want her to blow the whole undercover operation. They did as they were told and became like a barricade wall to block him from being seen. Kale the Slaver walked to the back of the cage, taking out his key and opened it. He reached in and grabbed the chain connected to Cedren' s wrist. Just as he was about to drag her out roughly, a light tap on his shoulder caused him to pause momentarily, he then realized, the one man was the best appraiser in the city, any damage would result in a low price. He then helped her out as if she were made of glass, closing the door behind her. He relocked the back and walked her over to the waiting men as he awaited what they had to say. Nuvaro then looked to his father's friend as he tried his best to keep his front up.

Nuvaro: "Well now you are the expert, give me your appraisal opinion before I decide."

Jero Hacter: "With pleasure."

He began his false task of appraising Cedren and did the normal livestock check. He wanted the false check to look as normal as possible. Though he seemed to notice it was hard on Nuvaro to watch his wife be checked like a piece of meat. After a short time, he walked over to Nuvaro and gave his opinion. The two men then turned to the slaver as they proceeded with their plan.

Jero Hacter: "Well I have done my job as an appraiser, what is your asking price?"

Kale the Slaver: "I am asking two thousand a piece or thirty-five hundred for the pair."

Jero Hacter: "Well she appears to be worth that price sir."

Nuvaro: "I will trust your judgement. If you believe the price is fair. I will take this one here. She will serve my families purpose well."

Kale the Slaver: "The pair would be cheaper, are you sure?"

Nuvaro: "I will definitely take this one. I do not need the other one."

Kale the Slaver: "That is great. How do you intend to pay sir?"

Nuvaro: (Reaching into his clothes, he pulled out a good-sized money purse. Still burning internally with silent rage, he began pouring part of its contents into his hand.) "This money pouch contains jewels and gold nuggets of good size portions. Here is my trade. My family only buys the best-looking ones."

As Kale the Slavers hands begin to fill with precious stones and gold nuggets, he could not help but widen his eyes as to what he was seeing, he was being given far more wealth than he had ever known in one handful. One of his underlings, had finally woke up and realized that a sale was taking place and was getting more excited than he should have been. Kale the Slaver looked at him, with a scolding stare that said get back to work and start busting camp or else. The underling jolted and turned on his heel and began to work as the sale was finishing up. Once payment was checked again and stored, he handed him a receipt and the usual slave collar of purchase. It was a simple collar that had "Owned" burned into the leather.

The fury Nuvaro was still trying to suppress was glinting in his eyes but did his best to maintain his front. Though, through all this, he was surprised that Krista did not even stir through all the noise and talking. Transaction completed; he led his wife out in the fashion he had seen other owners using. Moving quickly, they sped up so they could meet up with the others near the fountain. They had managed to get far enough out of clear sight when Krista had woken up all the way and realized that Cedren was no longer in the cage with her. She began shouting demanding to know where her cage mate had gone to. Looking extremely irritated Kale the Slaver opened the peephole on the cage to address her.

Kale the Slaver: "I do not know exactly why you are freaking out over the loss of your cage mate, but we are in a slave market. What did you think was going to happen?"

Krista: "What!!!! How could she have been sold already? Why? Why? Why? Am I truly that unworthy? Was I even looked at by anyone? What the hell?"

Kale the Slaver: "Wow, this is truly a strange thing to hear coming from a breeding stock female. And to answer your question, the man that came looking at the cages this morning did not want anything to do with you even after I offered such a fair bargain. He only wanted to look at the female that was with you."

Krista: "What do you mean he never even bothered to look at me? You can't be serious, I am good looking, with no flaws on my body, aside from the nail you guys pulled off putting me in here." "He must not have brought enough money; he will be back for me.

Kale the Slaver: (Looking at Krista, he blinked several times in disbelief; he was having a hard time with how she was acting. He had never come across anyone who was not even registering the fact that they were in a slave market. He was utterly stunned, almost at a total loss for words.) "You do realize you are going to be put up for auction later this evening, right?"

She looked up at the slaver and flopped back against the cage wondering how Cedren could be sold off so quick, and worse yet, that she had slept right through it and did not see who got her. Kale the Slaver just shrugged his shoulders, closing the peephole as he prepared to head into the auction house. Meanwhile, Nuvaro had no idea that his purchase was going to attract the attention of so many other merchants once they found out how he paid. But that was of little consequence to him at this point, he had his wife back that is all that mattered. One of his men then came up to him after reaching the fountain with garments for Cedren to wear that said noble woman.

Cedren: (Still doing her best to keep her head slightly downward.) "Thank you so much, is there someplace to put these on now?"

Nuvaro: "I believe there is a changing area around here somewhere. There would have to be. We will look for one. After all, there are females getting sold here all the time."

After scanning the area, they found what appeared to be a freshen up room for the women. Cedren went in and put on the garments that were handed to her and came out to greet Nuvaro after she had freshened up completely. After all, she had not had a proper bath in days. The washing basin provided was better than nothing. So, she did her best to freshen up. The whole time thinking it would be nice to have a full bath. But for now, this would do, it would have to. After about ten minutes, she came out of the washroom area and walked back toward Nuvaro.

Cedren: "I am so glad you found me; I don't know what I would have done if they had gone past this place."

Nuvaro: (Leaning in, he softly growls as he sniffs her neck, pulling her hair to the side to see if the mark he placed was still there. He softly touched the fading mark with his fingers as he kissed her cheek.) "I would have followed you no matter where you went, I am just glad you managed to keep your marks hidden and your eyes."

Cedren: "Well thankfully they were too damned busy with fighting me into the cage to notice anything specific about me. But those three days in that cage were awful. I do not want to ever go through that again."

Leaning down, with his forehead against hers, it was almost as if he were crying at the thought of her being in there all those days. He pulled her close to himself, hugging her so tightly it almost hurt. He then raised his head with a look to his men that said be on guard now for anything. A short while later, the rest of his troops and his father's allies showed up at the meeting place near the fountain. His father's friend raised an eyebrow once he caught sight of how Cedren looked in formal wear. He was almost speechless at the mere sight.
