Chapter 17 - Ch 4 Part 4

Jero Hacter: "I am truly sorry for the way I had to conduct myself back there just now."

Cedren: "It is fine. I knew it had to be done as part of the plan to get me out. Thank you very much for your help."

Jero Hacter: "Not at all, after all, my ties with your village are strong. I come here to buy the women to take back to the mountain villages, so they are freed Though there are a few that cannot ever seem to reintegrate. That is why I stay here in this city; I give them a place to stay."

Cedren: (Shaking his hand with a smile on my face…) "Thank you so much for that. The other girl that was in with me, sold me out to the slavers due to jealousy. She just didn't want to understand our traditions as far as the mating ritual goes, and she didn't want to understand the soul bond at all."

He just stared in silent shock for a moment, with his jaw hanging slightly open as he realized what she had just said, before regaining himself and looked to Nuvaro.

Jero Hacter: "No one is going to follow right?"

Nuvaro: "Yes, the slaver captains second in command was a buffoon and had no idea. They are still under the impression that the dead slaver captain is going to show up soon."

Jero Hacter: "Well that's good, as long as they believe they will show up, then we're good. We already know it is not going to happen. So, we can laugh about it later." Nuvaro: "Agreed, for now, we should get something to eat. Now that I have calmed a little, I'm hungry."

Cedren: "No arguments here, I could eat a whole deer to myself. My love you already know why. They did feed us, just not much."

Nuvaro: (Smiling softly as he looked upon his wife, he squeezed her hand softly.) "I'm very much aware my love. Now let us get you something to eat."

Jero Hacter: "I've been listening to you two, your father didn't say anything. Why so secretive."

Nuvaro: "Because I choose to be. I do not want to be disrespectful. I just want to enjoy getting my wife back for now. I will most definitely let you know in the future as to the cause of our secrecy. We are going to begin heading back to later this evening or early morning. Just depends on what plays out here later today."

Jero Hacter: "Oh that much I do understand. Well shall we get some food then?"

Nuvaro: "Yes lets, we all should be starving at this point."

We all headed to get something to eat. While there we discussed simple things and even made mention of some of the current happenings in the city, meanwhile Nuvaro mentioned things that were happening outside of the city. As their idle chat was ending, he made mention of sending a letter to his father. His father's friend just looked at him with a small nod and mentioned heading to his home when they finished eating. Nuvaro replied with a slight smile and nod of acknowledgment. After around an hour, they all got up and headed towards Jero Hacter's house.

Though it was making it a little difficult due to the exchange earlier, there were vendors left and right trying their best to get their items sold to Nuvaro' s party. Thanks to the outfit provided, no one even realized that Cedren was the one that had been purchased. By late afternoon, they had reached the friends home and he sent out a carrier bird with the message to his father letting him know that they would be leaving soon. Nuvaro then spent around an hour helping his father's friend come up with better plans to rescue most of the females held by the auction house and the best villages to send them to. Hopefully, they would end up with a better life than they had been dealt so far. The only hope Cedren could wish for them was a return to normalcy and the reintroduction of the traditions that so many had forgotten.

And so, it came to pass, the evening hours had fallen upon them. We made our fair wells to his father's friend and headed out of his manor. With their mission completed, there was no need to remain undercover. He looked to his men, who he had dressed back in their uniforms to get ready to head out. Sending a few of them to go and pick up the very cart they took from the slaver captain. What better way to flaunt his overall success in the face of his stupid subordinate? Nuvaro wanted to make damn sure the caravans knew who he was and that nothing like this had better happen again to any mountain villages. He then placed the slaver captains head upon a pike he drove into the top of the cart for everyone to see. Surely this would be enough to make most cringe. And hopefully everyone would step back in horror. This was sure to be an example to stir the very core of the city. After all, the head belonged to one of the most well-known slavers in the city.

Nuvaro: "Alright men. No need to hide anymore. We are going to march right through their city in grand fashion to let them know, no one takes our women and gets away with it."

Troops: "Yes sir! As you say."

Cedren: "Well dear, that was a little much, but I understand where you are coming from. I do not want to see this happen to anyone else from our village. And when we get back, I would like to hold a village meeting concerning it."

Nuvaro: "That's agreeable my love. I do not ever want to see this happen to anyone else's loved ones in the village either. These past few days were hell on me, I don't wish that on anyone else in the village."

Cedren: "Yes. But for now. Home."

Nuvaro: (With a smile on his face that seemed to say it all…) "Yes, my love, we will make it a point to let that set of slavers know their mistake first."

All Cedren could do was shake her head slightly with a soft smile that said "if you really must" then let us get to it. She put on her minimal battle attire and proceeded to follow her mate out the door after saying their goodbyes to his father's friend. And as an added showing on her part, she made no effort to hide her eyes or her arm with the mark. She was going to make sure no one could make a mistake on her status ever again. Especially if that is the way this world worked in the slaver cities.

Cedren: "Then we shall make a showing this slaver city will never forget. Though the slaver guy seemed to treat me okay, I will not allow another member of any mountain tribe to experience this."

Nuvaro just smiled at my words and shook his head in agreement. All his men looking at us both with newfound respect glinting in their eyes. Awaiting whatever orders came from either of us. Their look said they would follow us to hell, and they would be happy to do so.
