Chapter 64 - Chapter 63

A thump that shook the floor and even made me float a few centimeters for a second made me come to a sudden halt. What was that? I looked around. The dungeon had grown wider, making a large circle around me. Is the dungeon shifting? What is this? Maze Runner?

The thump sounded again, this time louder and stronger. It was followed by another, and then another. Footsteps? They got closer and closer until I saw it.

Right before my eyes was a real-life Giant. It had to be at least 12 feet tall. It looked like a human, though it definitely wasn't. The look it gave me was one of hunger. I quickly used observe to find out about my enemy.

Marmaduke

Description: One of the four giants left in the world. Extremely aggressive and powerful. Its attacks consist mostly of stomping and smashing; however, it has the power to wield magic. Magic attacks consist of Rock-Hard Defense, Boulder Toss, and Sinkhole.

Level: 90

Attack: 1,892

Defense: 1,456

Vitality, 2,453

Agility: 10

Magic: 200

Luck: 50

A monster that can use magic? This is the first I've run into one. But its magic is only 200, I easily exceed that!

The Giant let out a roar as it charged at me, making the ground shake with each step. I had to steady myself to keep balance. It reached its arm out to me, attempting to grab me. I jumped, landing on top of its hand. I stabbed my sword into its wrist as I quickly began running up its arm, cutting it open. Once I reached it face, I went for its eyes.

TING!

My sword stabbed into rock and the giant used its other arm to try and grab me. I jumped off, landing on the ground with a tsk.

"That must be your harden skill, huh?" I spoke to it as if it would talk back. Its arm wasn't bleeding any more either. It must have used Harden to from rocks around the cut, keeping it closed and preventing it from bleeding. "Oh, you're a smart one, huh?" I smiled. "This will be interesting!" I ran at it again, going under it as it tried to stomp me. I slashed its Achilles heel, causing it to fall to one knee as I ran around back to the front. It reached out to grab me, but it simply missed. I went to go get on it's arm again, but it swiped at me with its other arm. I barely had time to doge. The only reason I was able to get away from it was I used pyrokinesis on my feet to send me flying back faster.

The giant slammed its hand into the ground, picking up a large boulder. It was obvious the skill was boulder toss and it was going to throw it at me. I was right. It threw the boulder at me. I ran towards it, sliding under it on my knees just as it passed me. I didn't even get on my feet when I tossed my sword like a boomerang, sending it right into the giants' right eye.

It let out a roar as it stabbed into it. It went to pull my sword out, but I wasn't going to let that happen. I ran at it, putting my hand on its left leg, activating pyrokinesis. It set its leg on fire, and it quickly turned its attention to putting the flame out.

While it was doing that, I had climbed up its back using its shirt to get on its neck. I grabbed my sword and activated pyrokinesis. My sword caught fire while still inside its eye, melting its brain from the inside, killing it. I pulled my sword out and jumped to the ground as it fell, lying there dead.

"What! Impossible! You barely even used magic, how are you a mage!?" The voice hissed at me.

"I dunno. I just got lucky."

"Tsk! I'm sick of your cocky attitude, you damned mage! Let's get this over with, for real this time." The floor began shaking and cracking beneath me.

"Oh sh-" the floor crumbled from beneath me and I began falling. It was like I was falling endlessly. I couldn't see anything, not even my own hand.

"So, am I just falling forever?" I called out to the voice.

"Get ready." The voice in my head warned me. I felt a weird sensation, as if I was in danger.

Slowly but surely, a small light appeared below me, getting brighter and larger as I fell closer to it. I was soon able to tell that it was a room.

There was nothing for me to land on, and I would die from this fall surely, unless I timed teleport at the perfect time.

Once I physically was in the room, I activated the ability and a portal appeared below me. I fell through it and landed on the floor of the room with a thump. "OOF!" Teleporting didn't stop my moment much, so hitting the ground still hurt like hell.

I slowly got up and looked around the room, noticing that it looked similar to a colosseum or arena. The entire room was white and there were weapons littered on the ground. Some looked old, others newer.

"Oh, so you know teleport?" The voice sounded irritated. "Well, no matter. All magic users are the same."

"Tsk." I clicked my tongue in annoyance. This voice, whoever they were, was getting to cocky. And it was pissing me off that it kept lumping me in with the other magic users.

The sound of a metal gate opening drew my attention behind me. Sure enough, a gate was opening. And as it opened, a minitour stepped out.

"Have fun, mage, hahahaha." The voice's laugh trailed off like an echo.

The minitour charged at me, It's large sword in hand. This wasn't the first time I dealt with one of these things, but it is the first doing it by myself. Should I try and tire it out? No, that will tire me out even more then I already am. And to be honest, I doubt this was the only monster I would have to fight here.

But thinking about it, magic was extremely effective, especially mine. A bit to effective if I say so. That's why I don't like using it. I used to complain about being weak, and now here I am, probably the most powerful mage in this world. But using my magic ends the fight almost immediately, and that's boring.

No one wants to go into a video game with an insta kill skill. It takes all the fun out of the adventure! But…I am lazy, and I want to get out of this damn dungeon. I've been in here long enough.

The minitour was now a few feet from me when I raised my hand at it. "Burn to nothing!" I said as a large flame exploded from my hand, consuming the minitour. Once the flame died out, nothing was there. Not even ash. "Oh damn. It really did burn to nothing," I said surprised as I inspected my hand. "Is that all you have?" I remarked.

"….I think I understand now…You are the Demon King. Yet you pretend you aren't. No magic user, even the greatest of fire mages, could have burned that monster out of existence like it was nothing."

"Huh? The Demon King?" I tilted my head. "No, I'm not him." I clenched my hand into a fist as it caught fire. "I am the Reaper." The name felt like butter as it came out my mouth. I was starting to like it.

"Reaper? Is that what you call yourself now?"

"What do you mean, now?"

"Tsk. You still act like you don't know? Well, whatever. My pets will end your stupidity." The gate opened once more and two minitours stepped out, followed by a new enemy. A quick scan with observation let me know what it was along with its weakness.

Ogre

Description: A Goblin who has evolved beyond its genetic mutations. It consumes other monsters to gain their power. Legend has it they eat men as well, consuming the mana in their blood.

Level: 99

Attack: 2,956

Defense: 1,896

Vitality: 4,527

Agility: 30

Magic: 0

Luck: 500

Weakness: The head is its weak point. Strike it head and you will kill it. But beware, the Ogre will take a defensive stance, protecting its head, if its life feels threatened. It is also susceptible to poison and illusion magic.

Weakness? Oh, must have leveled observe up more and I can now see the enemies weakness. Oh, that's going to come in handy. But poison and illusions?

As an Arch Mage, I have illusion magic, though I haven't unlocked much of it. Just Cloak. Poison magic is a category, but I have no skill points put invested into it. Although I could easily do so, seeing as how I still have some skill points left over. But I decided against it.
