"Yeah, sure," I shrugged off her distain towards speaking to me with a rude reply.
You couldn't hurt my feelings, sorry. Many people have tried and forced conversations with me before, I've built up a tolerance to the pain I feel at seeing how hard it is for them.
Her shoulders slumped and I won the battle, though I couldn't help but feel bad at the sad face she made. She must have really tried her best to be kind, I guess I can reward her for at least trying.
"Is it a promise?" I mumbled softly. "I don't want some random Elf showing me around." Her face went back to a smile as she looked at me.
"Yeah! It's a promise." She put her pinky out.
Seriously? A pinky promise? That's so childish.
But I humored her and stuck my pinky out. She wrapped hers around mine and smiled brightly.
I averted my eyes from that innocent smile only to rest my gaze on the mayor, who also had a huge smile across his face. I gave him a look that said "What?"
Two gazes from behind me that gave off murderous intent were burning a hole in my head. I quickly turned around to find the source, only to see Sora and Rubellia smiling at me. The blood lust stares were gone as well.
Hmm, maybe I cleared a flag and know they were in love with me? Could it be they were jealous that I was speaking to this girl? I did save them after all... Hah, if only it were that easy. Sadly, life isn't an anime.
Must've just been my imagination.
The trip back to the capital was much faster than the walk to the Elf village, mostly due to the fact that the mayor, who had told us his name was Luisham, had given us a carriage ride back home, with the ride paid for and everything. They, being the trio, tried to deny the offer, stating we could pay for it our self. I was against that, but had kept silent.
Either way, Luisham wouldn't have it, saying it was the least he could do for eliminating the threat that apposed his village. So in the end, he had paid for us.
The trio thanked the carriage driver as we stepped out and back into the capital. It was just as busy as last time I was here, and I quickly found himself getting sick over the large crowd that soon engulfed us.
"You okay?" It was Han who spoke. He had a slightly amused look on his face.
Of course I wasn't okay. I was terrified of crowds. I always felt like all eyes were on me, silently judging. Social events that included a lot of people have never been my thing. It's why I dropped out of high school my third year.
"Let's get to the blacksmith," was all I replied with. "We have the money now, so let's go get y'all some better gear." They all agreed with me and we made our to the store. Three seconds later....
"Kichirou! Get off the ground!" Sora was yelling at me. It turns out that walking with two beautiful girls close to me caused eyes to cast my way. And those eyes saw right through me.
Stop judging me!!
I was cradled up against a wall, holding my knees.
"Kichirou, I swear that if you don't get up right now, I'll stare you to death!" She used my own fear against me. It was effective...sort of...
"W-What? Having a beautiful girl staring at me would kill me! But she's beautiful, so is it really a bad thing? But for a girl like her to stare at a guy like me could only mean one thing. She's thinking bad things about me. Stop sta-" Sora slapped me.
"S-Shut up! Don't just go calling a girl beautiful, especially if you're saying it like that! Like some kind of perverted masochist." Her face was red as she spoke. It was obvious I had made her mad. So I quickly apologized.
"S-Sorry..." I looked at the ground. "I didn't mean to come off as a weirdo..."
Being a loner meant you were used to being alone, but that also meant you know how to get people to get off your back. If they tried speaking to you, you ignored them. If that didn't work just give them a dirty look that said to go away. That always worked if the latter didn't.
The other thing was apologizing. Loners are always the first to apologize, because if you don't apologize, weather you're in the right or wrong, it drags out the conversation and can even draw more hostility.
"More like a pervert," she muttered.
"Not you too!'
"Too?"
Rubellia and Sora spoke at the same time. They gave me looks of confusion, all to which I ignored. I didn't want to talk about my experience with Ellie and how she also called me a pervert. And with her sick imagination she'll twist the reality of what actually happened and actually make me seem like a pervert.
"Kichi?" A new voice spoke from behind me.
Her accent was strong and sounded extremely country, or as it was called in this world, Tarnatian, which I found quite ironic. It sounded like tarnation, which was country slang. Of course the voice belonged to none other than Ellie.
Kichi? Is she referring to me?
"Oh, hey, Ellie." I turned around with an awkward smile.
"Ya came back sooner than I would'a thought. Did'cha miss me that bad?" She blinked her eyes slowly. I assumed that was her attempt at seduction, so I karate chopped her head as a reply. It was a soft chop, but still hard enough for her to have to grab her head. "OWIE!"
Judging from the look she was giving me, that karate chop was the last thing she expected. She probably thought that her womanly charm surely would have swayed my heart. But honestly, I actually found seduction attempts to be unattractive, which is why it hadn't affected me in the slightest.
"What was that fer?" She looked at me with tears in her eyes. "I thought ya woulda' fell for me if I did that."
"So that was you trying to seduce me!" My face became a gloomy color of blue as I filched back in shock.
"Whaaaa! I wan't tryna' seduce ya! I was just activatin' yer natural male predatory instinct!"
"The hell does that mean?!" A vein budged on my forehead.
This girl really got under my skin. She always branded me as some kind of perverted weirdo.
"I thought every male had that instinct ta deflower a girl when she does somethin' that triggers the males-"
"Shut it!" I put my hand over her mouth, stopping her from finishing the sentence. The only thing I saw was her eyes looking up at me in a...seductive way?
I immediately withdrew my hand and took a few steps back, not liking the look in her eyes.
"Oh, Kichi. I didn' know ya were inta stuff like that." She blushed as she swayed left to right.
"What is wrong with y—" Four holes being burned into the back of my head caused me to freeze mid-sentence. It was the same murderous gazes that I had felt at the Elf village.
I quickly turned around only to have the murderous gazes vanish and to lay eyes on Rubellia and Sora, who were smiling quite forcefully.
Don't tell me they do like me?
Nah, impossible.
"So, Kichi, care to tell us who exactly this is?"
