The rest of the day went pretty smoothly. Between Sam and Marcus Violet made it to all her classes, which it seemed to her as if they all shared the same class schedule. The only class that they did not have together was the last one, for Violet that was art.
Violet used the weird little map that the girl had given her earlier that day to find the classroom. Walking in Violet knew that she was in the right spot. When the intoxicating smell of paraffin wax assaulted her senses. For the first time all day she finally started to relax some. This was the only class Violet actually got to choose, and she was more than ecstatic to pick it. When they offered. It seemed to her for most people art was just a lazy class, but Violet actually enjoyed it. It gave her time to express herself. She quickly found a seat by a window, and waited eagerly for the class to start.
"Violet right? " rang a familiar voice from right next to her followed by the loud sound of a scraping chair. Looking next to her, Violet saw the gothic cheerleader, Harmony, Violet thought she said her name was. She plopped down next to her. "You didn't strike me as The Artsy type." She said with a slight chuckle. Violet thought, " she doesn't seem to weird I guess it couldn't hurt.", and she wanted to enjoy the time in this class. So being friendly to her table mate didn't appear to tamper with her rules about maintaining distance.
"And you didn't seem like the athletic type, but hey I guess we're both full of surprises huh? " Violet retorted with a small smile on her face.
"So you can talk and carry on a normal conversation. I mean I can understand why you're shy your brand new and this is your first day, but don't worry not everyone here is a dumb hillbilly." She said with a light touch humor in her voice.
"Y'all really got me fooled then, but you're right it's not all too bad. " Violet said picking back at Harmony. For the first time in a long time Violet actually felt like she was getting out of her shell. "I mean I am in my favorite class I guess that's what had relaxed me to the point where I am willing to talk to Harmony." she rationalized to herself
"What is this class like, I mean how is the teacher? " Violet asked out of curiosity. Internally praying it was actually a teacher that enjoyed the curricular.
"Miss Blu, is a really cool teacher she's not stuck up or anything if that's what you're wondering, but she doesn't go for forgery whenever it comes to class assignments. She expects you to use your imagination and actually come up with something original which is where a lot of the people that attend this class fall short. " Harmony said, "Please tell me you're not one of those people."
"No I'm not a printing press." Violet said rolling her eyes in a joking manner. "I actually enjoy expressing myself that's why I decided to take this class it seemed like the only one that I would excel at with my natural talent. "
"Well that's good to hear, I don't get to hear that from any students anymore, I think the last one I heard it from was Miss Love who is sitting right there next to you. " came a mysterious yet honey like voice. Violet couldn't help but jump from the sudden intrusion in the conversation. "I guess I wasn't as relaxed as I thought I was." she thought to herself.
"I do apologize I didn't mean to startle you, and who are you? I don't recognize your face." Violet turned around to give the woman behind her, her full attention. Though the site she was greeted with was not what she was expecting. Miss Blu's look reminded her of what you would see in a children's book if you were to describe an art teacher. Right down to the tacky dress and rainbow striped hair with the paint brushes holding it up in a messy bun. The image before her brought a child like wonder to her mind.
"I'm Violet, Violet Summers I'm new here it's my first day. " Violet said trying to hide her expression of amusement towards the short woman in front of her. Her art teacher was walking dose of serotonin.
"What a pretty name, Violet, it is very nice to meet you and a fun little fact that is one of my favorite colors. " she said as she walked away making her way to the desk at the front of the room.
Calling the class to order, she informed the class of what we were having that day was what she called a free day at the end of day where they were to turn in what they had worked on while in class and would be graded on such. So Violet quietly begin to draw and allowed her mind to wander and wonder.
Today had been a lot to take in, but at this point she was glad that it was almost over. As he sat there lost in thought. Violet guessed that she had completely missed the bell ringing for them to go home, because Harmony was basically calling her name like a mantra.
"Hey, did you hear me its time to go." she said sounding highly amused. Violet quickly packed up her things and turned in her paper to the teacher and ran out. Trying to figure out where to catch the bus at. Violet ran up behind Harmony, getting her attention right away.
"Hey do you know how to get to the busses?" Violet asked the girl completely lost and too tired to search for it on the map.
"Yeah." she said with a half smile on her face. Relief washed over Violet and she followed her. They talked along the way and Violet found out that Harmony wasn't as odd as she seemed. But Violet had to keep herself in check, she couldn't allow herself to get attached it always made the moving harder. Violet had followed her to the parking lot in front of the school.
"Umm this isn't the bus area." she said looking at Harmony. Stating the obvious.
