Chapter 6 - A Moron Thing

"Why would I take a bus when I drive here." Harmony said. Violet started to panic. She should have asked her to take her to the bus circle first. Violet got scared and then she started to get mad. How the hell was she supposed to get home now. Looking up at the sky the clouds looked like they were going to break open at any moment and let a flood fall to earth.

"Get in." she said from the other side of the car. Which brought Violet's train of thought back to the dilemma at hand.

"Huh?" Violet said. Not thinking that she heard her right.

"I said get in, do you want a ride or not? At this point you will be walking in a storm in about 5 minuets. So do you want a ride?" Harmony said as she got in the blue car in front of her. It looked like Violet didn't really have any other choice. All of the busses were probably gone by now, and she knew she had to get to her house. Violet got in the car when Harmony unlocked the door. Violet looked out the window mentally kicking herself for being so empty headed.

"Lighten up, I'm not going to kill you or anything." Harmony said. Starting up the car and pulling out of the school parking lot. "I don't just give people rides home. I was just caught up in our conversation that I completely forgot about the bus. Until we hit the parking lot and there was no way we could have made it to the opposite end of the school in that short amount of time. I'm sorry." she said almost out of breath.

Violet took a deep breath and tried to relaxed. It was the truth that she was enjoying the company as well, and the thought of the busses had slipped her mind. Violet felt an uneasiness in her stomach. She knew it had nothing to do with Harmony, she was just being friendly. It had to do with her and her stupid rule about not making friends to only abandon them. When she had to inevitably had to move to another new home.

"So where are we going." she asked holding her phone, and opening the navigation app. Violet gave her the address which come to find out wasn't too far from the school. They buckled up and pulled out of the school parking lot.

On the trip Harmony and Violet talked about their interests and found out that they did actually have a lot more in common that she had originally thought. Harmony, like her, had to move a lot over the past two years due to her parents jobs. Which made it hard to forge bonds with people. They had very close taste in music, which their preferences where both quite random. Both of their parents were seldom around, and they both had a high interest in crime shows and serial killer documentaries. They were talking so much that once again they forgot about the destination and wound up going right past it. Violet nor Harmony had any clue until the GPS's robot voice said "make a U-Turn here."

They both cracked up laughing as Harmony pulled a U-turn and started heading back in the direction they had came. As they got closer to Violets house she began gathering up her items and began digging threw her backpack. Violet rummaged until she found what she was looking for.

"Your destination is on the left." the robot voice said. "Is this it?" Harmony asked coming to a stop in front of the drive way. "Yup this is it" Violet said gathering up everything that she had pulled out of her bag.

"Do you mind if I save you address into my phone, I promise that I won't stalk you." Harmony asked. Violet just shrugged.

"Sure, but you CANNOT tell anyone where I live." Violet said. Harmony just smiled and clicked the little save button on her phone screen. Putting her phone down she pulled all the way into the drive way.

Violet saw her mothers big black hummer in the drive way and smiled that she was home. Maybe tonight they could spend some time together, before her mom had to leave again. Making Violet house sit involuntarily.

As Harmony put the car in park Violet put a five dollar bill in her cup holder and told her thank you for the ride. Harmony kept insisting that she didn't want the money but Violet explained that it was a moral thing, which Harmony retorted with, "No it was a moron thing." They just looked at each other and started laughing again.
