"FATHER!"
Sylvia yelled and stood up abruptly after finally registering the last words her father had said. Her face was beet red and she couldn't look at Kain. She was incredibly embarrassed, not about being engaged to Kain, but the fact that her father had trumpeted it in front of all these people.
Nobody could know that Sylvia was just putting up a front. Deep in her heart, she was jumping up and down in happiness. She knew that she had feelings bordering on love for Kain, but she was struggling for a way to jump start the relationship. Especially since Kain had three lovers already.
Sylvia was about to go crazy because it didn't seem like Kain was going to make a move, even after she tempted him to take her by force. Wasn't the guy supposed to take initiative in these kinds of matters?
Now that she thought about it, she started to worry. What if Kain refused? The thought almost brought her to tears as her heartbeat quickened. All of a sudden, she felt a weight press down on her heart the longer the silence went on.
"I will gladly be your son-in-law as I feel like I already love Sylvia. However, I can only accept the engagement if you allow my other lovers to join the ceremony as my other brides. I have yet to ask them, but I am sure they would be willing." said Kain.
Sylvia was bursting with joy upon hearing Kain's reply and almost forgot to pretend to be angry about the whole situation. However, Tyrin turned her world upside down with his next words.
"Who said you are getting engaged to Sylvia? Do you think she is my only daughter?" said a stern-faced Tyrin.
Everyone in the room was stunned by the revelation. Kain's mouth was hanging open and his eyes were about to pop out from the shock. Sylvia had a sister?
The others leaders were even more shocked because they had known Tyrin for a long time. Since when did he have another daughter? Did he secretly bed another woman and sire a daughter and kept it secret all this time?
Sylvia fell down to her knees. Just as people were about to break the silence, Tyrin broke out into a grin.
"I am just jesting with you. Sylvia is my one and only daughter. Kain, you were asking for this because you shocked me with your request to marry others during my only daughter's wedding. Now we are even." said Tyrin.
Sylvia growled in anger and pounced towards her father. Tyrin immediately fled from her and led a merry chase around the round table.
Everyone couldn't help but chuckle at the scene. No one was more relieved than Kain. It looked like Tyrin would be quite the interesting father-in-law. He couldn't help but grin at Tyrin's antics.
Just as Sylvia was about to reach Tyrin, he came to a dead stop and pointed an accusing finger at her.
"You deserved this too! The fact that you kept Kain hidden from me all this time made me angry. I should have spanked your butt raw, but I held back so you should hold back as well!"
Before Sylvia could blow her top at Tyrin's insinuation that she could have been spanked at her age, Tyrin rushed back to his seat and acted as if nothing out of the ordinary had happened. Tyrin once more assumed an austere presence.
"Ahem, so Kain let's set the date of the wedding. I'll agree to your request to bring your other lovers to get married. How about two months from now?" asked Tyrin.
Sylvia slipped back into her seat. She didn't want to cause a ruckus when her wedding details were getting finalized.
"Two months from now should be fine. Before we go into details, I think we should follow the proper protocol. Give me a moment."
Kain scanned his pocket dimension through the mounds and mounds of treasure. He finally found a sparkling diamond ring. Even to his untrained eye, he knew it was worth a lot. Kain would look for other rings for his other girls, but he couldn't keep Sylvia waiting. After retrieving the ring, he walked over to the seated Sylvia and got down on one knee in front of her.
"Sylvia, I haven't known you for very long and it is crazy that we reached this point. I want you to know that you probably saved my life the first time I met you. I think that was the moment when I started having feelings for you. I don't know how you feel about me, but I am more than willing to marry you. Will you marry me?" asked Kain.
Sylvia didn't even look at the ring and leaned forward to give Kain a deep kiss. When she broke away to catch her breath, Kain couldn't help but smile.
"Does this mean.." started Kain.
"Yes…I will marry you, Kain." said Sylvia.
"Get a room you two!"
Of course, that could only be Barton. He was part jesting, part serious when he made the comment. Of course, Barton was happy for his brother, but why did he get to bag all the pretty ones?
The others broke out in applause for the newly engaged couple. Kain placed the ring on Sylvia's ring finger. Only then did he return to his seat with a smile on his face.
Marissa smiled at her soon to be nephew-in-law.
Elsa couldn't hide the jealousy in her eyes, but still applauded along with the others. She hadn't said a word since her earlier outburst.
Kara and Lana were conversing furiously between one another telepathically. They were envious of Sylvia, but the majority of their conversation revolved around the deadline of two months. They would have to become Kain's lovers before the wedding date or they would miss the boat and be left out of the 'wives' club.
Kain took out a 150x and a 100x enhance orb and floated it over to Tyrin. He was incredibly thankful to Tyrin for being the matchmaker.
"To my father-in-law to be, I offer this as part of the dowry. I have other things to give you in private once the meeting is over."
Of course, Kain didn't forget to send another pair of similar strength enhance orbs to Aleria, who was stunned upon receiving them. A few seconds passed by, before it dawned on her what this meant.
"You…you are in that kind of relationship with my daughter? asked Aleria.
"Yes, Talia is one of the lovers I mentioned. I have yet to propose to her, but I am sure she will be beyond happy to be my wife. I also have something to give to you in private as well." replied Kain.
Kain turned to Tyrin once more.
"I will take you up on your offer to learn the things you mentioned earlier. However, those who are close to me must also be given the same opportunity." said Kain.
"Of course, that should be easy to arrange. I take this to mean that you will be joining us in our fight?" asked Tyrin.
"If the military is as corrupt as they sound like, I would fight even if I had no allies. So yes, I will join your alliance. Now that we have all gotten what we came for, let's end this meeting." said Kain.
Kain sensed that his girls were waking up and preparing to come downstairs. He needed to be the first to explain to them how he got engaged. There was no way he would let them be disappointed or come to some kind of misunderstanding.
Kain signaled his brothers, Aleria, and Tyrin to stay behind for a bit. He grabbed Sylvia by the arm and moved to go upstairs, however, his girls already came out and hurried towards Kain when they saw him.
No one had left yet as they all just stood up. When they looked at the girls with slightly disheveled hair and saw the occasional yawn break out across their faces, everyone could guess why they were so sleepy. It was quite obvious since they all just came out of a bedroom.
The girls were about to show affection to Kain, but then they saw the many guests so they held themselves back.
Aleria's eyes were twitching when she observed the state of her daughter. She could tell that Talia was absolutely smitten with Kain. Her mother's intuition was telling her that her daughter was no longer a virgin.
Thinking that her daughter would be engaged with Kain shortly, she let the matter slide. However, when she was about to speak up, she sensed the immense power flowing off from Talia.
"Talia…how did you get so powerful? This…is impossible!" cried out Aleria.
The others were alerted by her exclamation and they all observed the three girls. They realized that all three of them seemed far stronger than Genji-tier.
Elsa, who had kept quiet since her last outburst, couldn't help herself.
"What kind of sorcery is this? All three are beyond Genji!"
